To be really annoyed about people complaining about the weather?

I work in a kitchen, which is a hot environment generally but is especially hot with the current weather so I do get it.

However, I am getting SO sick of all my collegues moaning CONSTANTLY about the weather. Yes, I know, its hot. I got the memo. I used my eyes and looked outside. I can also feel that it is hot. It won't get any cooler if you whinge about it for 8hrs straight. Just shut up already!

To be fair, it was 35 degrees in there today and we were all dripping with sweat, and that was with the extractor fans/air con etc going so that's as good as its going to get. I know it isn't comfortable but fgs just deal with it or get a different job, I don't think I can cope with another 3 months of the whinging about it being too hot I'm secretly quite enjoying all the heat as we very rarely get any in our part of the country, its nice to have a real summer for a change!

Aibu?? Or just a heartless bitch? Grin

To be honest I'm glad of the weather. I'm shit at small talk (which I have to do at work on a daily/hourly basis) so it gives me a good excuse. I don't even care if people are thinking "fuck sake I have eyes, I have skin, I know it's hot" I'm just grateful they nod and smile politely

Nanny0gg · 21/06/2017 23:24

It's hideous. It drains me of energy, it stops me sleeping - and I don't sleep that well at the best of times. I still have to carry on helping with DGC but it's so hot I feel ill.

So I will bloody well carry on moaning.

MetalMidget · 21/06/2017 23:28

I always used to love hot weather, but now I have a baby. Not being able to get his nursery below 28 degrees despite fans, wet towels and bowls of ice is upsetting. :(

MycatsaPirate · 21/06/2017 23:29

The thing is that this type of heat brings out the 'but it's hotter here in America/Australia/Portugal' type comments which always makes me itch a bit because your countries are used to it and pretty much every building has air conditioning!

I have been reduced to going to Asda every day just to lie in the fridge section - yes people are annoyed that I'm lying on the butter etc but fuck it, you have to take the relief from it where you can :o

I am lucky that I'm not working but the house is a sauna, the garden is a sun trap and this evening I had to go and sit in a very hot school hall for 90 minutes listening to children murder pieces of music on instruments (just to hear my DD sing in the choir for 5 minutes at the end).

We went to the beach this evening and it was bloody lovely. Cool breeze and lovely water. Lovely cool water.

Tomorrow I will be sitting in a field for an hour watching sports day. Then I'm going back to Asda to clear out the fridge section for another lie down.

And what really pisses me off is people still leaving their dogs in cars in this heat.

My DD is a trainee paramedic and got a call out today on her placement to a baby trapped in a car - poor mum had put keys in ignition then put baby in the car seat, by the time she had walked back round to the drivers side the car had automatically locked. Baby was in for 20 minutes max and was nearly unconscious. Mum was distraught. Thankfully baby is now fine but 20 minutes! That's how long it takes to render a baby/toddler/dog unconscious!

To those struggling to sleep, open your loft hatch. It helps lift the heat from upstairs into the roof area. Open all windows and leave curtains closed during the day. Wet towels in front of open windows and fans. Strip your babies down to nappy only and remove all bedding.

And pregnant ladies, I feel your pain. I went through a heatwave at my due date with DD1 and it was just awful. Don't do anything. At all. Just sit in a bath of tepid water and mumsnet from your phone.

PenSylvester · 21/06/2017 23:44

Yab a tiny bit u. I understand in general, but the weather has triggered my autoimmune illness and all my joints keep locking up. I'll complain as much as I like Grin

FidgetSpinner · 21/06/2017 23:47

My ASD dcs really struggle in this heat and it plays havoc with their sleep routine so they are tired and very tetchy and a flipping nightmare so I'll moan all I like ta.

CousinCharlotte · 22/06/2017 00:05

I'm type 1 diabetic and this weather has a big impact on my ability to control my diabetes. I had 3 hypos today Sad

TwatteryFlowers · 22/06/2017 00:20

I'll moan as much as I like. I hate it when it's too hot. I hate being sweaty and sticky. I hate not being able to sleep. I hate feeling groggy. I hate feeling hungry but not actually fancying anything to eat. I hate being itchy. I hate having hayfever with sinus pain and runny, swollen eyes. Roll on autumn when it's much cooler. I love sunny autumn and winter days where you can enjoy the nice weather without all the associated discomfort.

MonkeyPieMama · 22/06/2017 00:43

I'm in hell in this heat. Anything above 20°c and I'm so unbelievably uncomfortable. I won't apologise for it. I moan constantly!!

madein1995 · 22/06/2017 00:59

i hate it. When youre on holiday its nice - lounging on a sunbed all day, pool if youre hot, nice. Going to work/cooking/everyday life in this heat is crap. Ive had the fan in my room on highest setting and still too hot at night. Dog is managing well considering, but tomight and last night she was outside til gone half 10 and was cooler and we had to carry her in for bed. Feel for the poor children, especially babies and toddlers. We just arent used to it. Weve not got air con, and its dofferdnt when youre on holiday. No worries, relaxing, pool, sea etc . Most people work and that takes the fun out of it. A day at tge beach would be fun and i wouldnt moan. As ive been stuck in work (supermarket so nice and cool admittedly), at home (and roasting) or in bed (and uncomfy) and unable to enjoy it, i will moan

YABU, people can complain if they want chill out

beachdream · 22/06/2017 08:40

Yanbu it's only ever a few days at a time. I'm down south and it appears it's over already!

I like it but I get that people don't - nevertheless moaning doesn't make it go away.

SharkiraSharkira · 22/06/2017 11:15

Tbf there are people who moan about the heat who real issues that is exacerbated by it, pregnant women, babies etc. It's my work people specifically that annoy me with the moaning as they have CHOSEN to work in an environment which is WELL known for being hot generally let alone in a heatwave. Wtf did they expect in the summer time?!

The temperature has dropped significantly since yesterday but the moaning continues..
