To be really annoyed about people complaining about the weather?

I work in a kitchen, which is a hot environment generally but is especially hot with the current weather so I do get it.

However, I am getting SO sick of all my collegues moaning CONSTANTLY about the weather. Yes, I know, its hot. I got the memo. I used my eyes and looked outside. I can also feel that it is hot. It won't get any cooler if you whinge about it for 8hrs straight. Just shut up already!

To be fair, it was 35 degrees in there today and we were all dripping with sweat, and that was with the extractor fans/air con etc going so that's as good as its going to get. I know it isn't comfortable but fgs just deal with it or get a different job, I don't think I can cope with another 3 months of the whinging about it being too hot I'm secretly quite enjoying all the heat as we very rarely get any in our part of the country, its nice to have a real summer for a change!

Aibu?? Or just a heartless bitch? Grin

English people sure do love a good old moan

Fixed that for you Wink

MissionItsPossible · 21/06/2017 16:32

By the way is FTFY an acronym already? If it's not it should be. I am officially proposing it as an idea.

derxa · 21/06/2017 16:34

Well it's very pleasantly warm and cloudy here in the Scottish Borders.

Have a chronic illness that renders me heat intolerant so the last few days have made me faint and dizzy and completely dysfunctional. It's been fun. Confused Not all of us can just get on with it. I'd love to be able to.

kali110 · 21/06/2017 16:35

Yabu, people moan about the weather for different reasons.
I worked in a cafe so boiling hot machines and then kitchen and still moaned about the weather!
I get migraines when its too hot. Confused
The hot weather is also horrendous for my poor pets.
I hate hot weather.

Sallystyle · 21/06/2017 16:36

I only get mildly annoyed when people moan about the heat because I feel shit all winter and I have to put up with it for months. I can't stand any cold. It makes me feel crappy. I hate the weather from October to late spring.

They only have to put up with hot weather for a couple of weeks, so I unreasonably wish I had their problem of struggling with the weather for a few weeks instead of most of the bloody year Grin

However, with my reasonable hat on this heat genuinely sucks for some people. My son who worked in a hot kitchen at 30c moaned and I wouldn't have wanted to do his job in that heat either to be fair. It was also hard when I worked on the top floor of the hospital on my feet for 12.5 hours and not getting a chance to sit down except for my break.

MissHavishamsleftdaffodil · 21/06/2017 16:37

(And sorry, yes I know it's a complete pita when you're having a casual thread and someone mentions a serious issue, not meaning to be a wet blanket, but I've been swallowing down the desire to yell 'bully for you!!!!!' and throw ice cubes at the computer on so many of these threads the last few days!)

EdmundCleverClogs · 21/06/2017 16:38

I have seen/heard more people moaning about the people apparently moaning about the weather, than those who are apparently causing a need for endless 'stop moaning/I love hot weather' threads.

Hot weather in the U.K. is shit. It's like asking someone not to moan for being locked in a bloody sauna for a week - it's the same level of unbearable, muggy environment that no one would choose to put themselves in for a prolonged period. Yet because we only get to 'enjoy' this sticky, insomnia inducing weather for a couple of weeks a year, apparently we're meant to be grateful for it and stop moaning Hmm. Well I for one will moan until the day the UK is 100 shades of grey and drizzle all year around!

MissHavishamsleftdaffodil · 21/06/2017 16:38

U2 if it's any consolation to you, the same condition will mean I feel utterly shit through the cold/wet/rainy seasons too. Wink

LarrytheCucumber · 21/06/2017 16:38

I am irritated however that our postmen have made several delivery errors recentlyGrin and blamed it on the hot weather

sexcauldron · 21/06/2017 16:43

I'm 28 weeks pregnant with twins and really fucking hot. If I want to complain I will.

Sallystyle · 21/06/2017 16:44

It has been very hot here again today. It wasn't meant to be but it is, thankfully.

Redredredrose · 21/06/2017 16:52

I don't think I can cope with another 3 months of the whinging about it being too hot

Don't worry about that - this really won't last another 3 months!

TheSconeOfStone · 21/06/2017 17:05

Huge amounts of moaning here in Devon. We're not used to hot weather in these parts. We're usually cold and grey while the south east bakes. I wasn't moaning on the beach at the weekend. Trying to get the kids to sleep is less fun.

Iamastonished · 21/06/2017 22:47

This is our weather forecast for the next few days Sad

Another pregnant moaner here. I usually love this kind of heat but it can fuck right off at the moment.

I feel very unwell in the heat. Loads of people I know whinge all the time when it is cold. Atleast when it is cold you can put on more layers or put the heating on. I cant go to work naked when I am too hot. It may not be anywhere near as hot as some countries but we are not as used to it here.

So OP I think you are being very unreasonable.

Meatbadger · 21/06/2017 23:06

I can cope with the daytime but it's the nights that I like to moan about. Two sweaty little children who demand covers even though they've got heat rash and wake up in the night wanting to come into bed with me. Just a few degrees cooler please and I'll be happy Grin

IHateUncleJamie · 21/06/2017 23:06

I usually prefer warmth as cold weather makes my chronic pain even worse. However the heat has done for me today. I must admit to having had a tiny moan too as my poor teenage dd has had heat exhaustion and I've been worried about her.

brexitstolemyfuture · 21/06/2017 23:08

Yanbu I said the same and I was flamed with "babies are dieng because of the heat"...

Unihorn · 21/06/2017 23:10

I'm on maternity leave from my job in a hot restaurant/kitchen and am now wondering why I was always envious of people with the day off enjoying the sun when I was at work in the heat. I would rather be sweating stood at the grill than trying to pacify a screaming, uncomfortable baby who won't sleep in a 31 degree room! I've spent the 'heatwave" indoors trying to keep cool.

TheSnorkMaidenReturns · 21/06/2017 23:13

I can't bear this heat. It's made me ill since I was a child. I can't do anything.

I never go on holiday anywhere hot.

I may be moaning but I am consistent Grin.

Iamastonished · 21/06/2017 23:13

Heartoverheadhouse I will be back in my jeans and jumpers at those temperatures. Currently wearing a loos linen shift dress that I love.

RightOnTheEdge · 21/06/2017 23:17

I think comparing it to a holiday in a hot country isn't really fair.
On holiday you can relax by the pool/sea reading a book and drinking a nice cool drink.
That's a big difference to having to work, cook, do housework etc
