mallamloll · 20/06/2017 12:22

To get her car insured to as it costs too much at her house.

How do I reply to this?

OP posts:
Sirzy · 20/06/2017 12:22

"No because it is illegal and will invalidate your insurance"

boggedoff · 20/06/2017 12:23

By saying no :)

Wolfiefan · 20/06/2017 12:23

It's fraud. No.

Butterymuffin · 20/06/2017 12:24

No, the insurance won't be valid anyway as said above, and then it may cause problems for you getting insurance further on.

araiwa · 20/06/2017 12:25

It would be just as effective and cheaper if she just didnt buy insurance at all

mallamloll · 20/06/2017 12:25

I can't just reply saying its fraud so what good reasons can I give her

OP posts:
kaytee87 · 20/06/2017 12:26

Fraud isn't a good enough reason?

araiwa · 20/06/2017 12:26

Fraud is the best reason you can give her

kaytee87 · 20/06/2017 12:26

There's no point in her doing this as she might as well not be insured, she won't be covered should anything happen.

Aridane · 20/06/2017 12:26

Er, just say 'no'

Reow · 20/06/2017 12:27

It's illegal.

Writerwannabe83 · 20/06/2017 12:27

I can't just reply saying its fraud so what good reasons can I give her?

Yes you can - because it's the truth. Why can't you say it??

It's a bloody good reason to say no!

onlyjustme · 20/06/2017 12:27

How is "fraud" not a good enough reason????
Confused

PickAChew · 20/06/2017 12:28

Fraud is a very good reason.

And no is a complete sentence.

Zebra31 · 20/06/2017 12:29

But it is fraud and it's easy to discover. It's a material fact that n eds to be disclosed. Insurers have access to DVLA and a whole host of other data so if something occurred they could turn a claim down and cancel your friends policy from inception.

Just say no it's fraudulent.

paxillin · 20/06/2017 12:29

Yes, you can. If it comes out, you are in trouble as well. Just tell her you are not comfortable with it. Costs £1000 to be caught.

mallamloll · 20/06/2017 12:30

When you get insurance it runs through credit checks and they may see your address is different plus it will be different on your licence so if you have an accident you will get your licence removed from you . Not sure if it affects me because I let you use it so I'm not sure if we should.

That's what I've said

OP posts:
Oldgranny · 20/06/2017 12:31

NEVER !

ThePinkOcelot · 20/06/2017 12:32

Just tell her she wouldn't be insured! That's true as well!!

OneFlewOverTheDodosNest · 20/06/2017 12:32

Well if you can't outright say that it's fraud can you point out the impact of the fraud - i.e. that if she has an accident then when the insurance company investigates they'll discover that she lied about her address and she won't be covered. (And probably will get in trouble for fraud)

PaperdollCartoon · 20/06/2017 12:32

The insurance wouldn't be valid, it's illegal, why do you need to pussy foot around it? 'Not sure if we should'?! There's no we. Say 'no I'm not letting you use my address to break the law'

Loopytiles · 20/06/2017 12:33

"Not sure if we should"!

You have some issues with assertiveness OP.

specialsubject · 20/06/2017 12:34

It is fraud. If she can't afford to insure the car legally then she can't have a car. Tough, welcome to real life.

Uninsured drivers end up in far worse financial trouble. If you find out that she is driving uninsured, report her.

Zebra31 · 20/06/2017 12:35

When you get insurance it runs through credit checks

That's not correct. They don't run credit checks. Your friend is entering into a contractual agreement with an insurer. If your friend lie, it's fraudulent. Just tell her it's fraud.

2littlemoos · 20/06/2017 12:36

Sorry but it's not worth the risk.
