To hate men walking around with shirts off

It's really not lovely, is it?

AIBU to want them to cover up? So common.

Same Maisy but this site is just funny sometimes.

"Of course you can go topless, how can anybody be offended by breasts?!"
"Oh no, don't want to see topless men, it's disgusting and low class"
"Everybody is beautiful, nobody should be ashamed of their bodies, wear what you like"
"Yuck no, I don't want to see some disgusting beer belly"

I've seen it a few times on here now. Makes no sense.
Not saying anybody in particular, just how threads generally go.

Similar uterus. I consider myself comfortable with nudity, will happily get changed in communal changing etc. (Including mixed sex changing abroad)

I don't want to see half naked individuals when I'm going about my day to day business.

Katinkka · 19/06/2017 23:11

It's uncouth.

NoLoveofMine · 19/06/2017 23:12

Except Foniks you're just picking and choosing a handful of comments to suit the point you're trying to make and ignoring countless others, such as the one within the last few minutes saying they see no issue with men with their tops off but think women dressed in certain ways are "inappropriately clad". It's baffling how desperate some are to claim some kind of double standard, when it's women who are judged on appearance and choice of attire constantly no matter the weather.

brasty · 19/06/2017 23:15

Totally awful. Cover up. I really can't stand this.

brasty · 19/06/2017 23:17

I don't care if women go topless on the beach or pool. But in restaurants, cafes, pubs, shops, streets, put your top on. And it is only EVER men who do this.

Foniks · 19/06/2017 23:24

NoLove no, I haven't said every single person does it. Literally said I've seen it a few times, not that its the only thing I see, and said nobody in particular.
And where have I disputed that women are judged daily? Doesn't make it ok for women to then judge and people just ignore it happening. How do two wrongs make a right? We'd be upset if decent men didn't say anything about other men judging, so why not the other way round? Of course neither are ok, why should I not mention it?

Unless the same poster made all the comments you allude to it's meaningless to quote them all. Women are judged daily on choice of attire no matter the season. Commented on, harassed in the street, leered at. A few people saying they'd rather not see men with no top whatsoever is not "the other way round" from the judgment women and girls get constantly on appearance. "The other way round" would be what people said on women walking around with no tops on.

NoLoveofMine · 19/06/2017 23:36

And behold my post comes just after misogynist tripe.

Nikitasol · 19/06/2017 23:36

I loathe it. Public manspreading

Notknownatthisaddress · 19/06/2017 23:39

For you @noloveofmine

To hate men walking around with shirts off
sysysysref · 19/06/2017 23:40

I can't bear it. Why do English men have to take their tops off whilst men all over the rest of the world manage to keep theirs on? It's so unecessary - on the Bach, in the garden, fine. Wandering round Tesco, getting on the bus, not fine

PaulAnkaTheDog · 19/06/2017 23:47

Taps aff!

(I may just repeat that a few time throughout the course of this thread)

HappenedForAReisling · 20/06/2017 00:10

A lot of fit men around here walk around shirtless. Every single one I've seen has put a shirt on before entering a shop or any kind of public building. I love summer

Morphene · 20/06/2017 00:18

Either men and women should be able to go topless whenever, or neither.

Horribly sexist otherwise.

I'd lean towards tops off for everyone!

Down with body shaming!

bluegreenyellow · 20/06/2017 01:05

yuck yuck yuck dont want to see some fat man waddling around with no shirt

CheeseMcCheeserson · 20/06/2017 01:23

If on a beach or by a pool I give zero craps who has a top on as it's expected in that situation. On the street, on a bus, in shops etc wear a top that covers your nipples and shorts/skirt that covers your arse. I give zero shits what size you are, I really don't need to see it.

VestalVirgin · 20/06/2017 01:57

People told a woman that of course she can go topless at a pool.

Town centre is different. People should wear clothes there. All people.

I am another person who definitely doesn't want to sit next to a half naked man on the bus.

Either he looks bad, in which case it is disgusting, or he looks good, in which case it is embarrassing.

Considering how close people are squeezed together in public transport ... no, really, common sense.

clearwaters · 20/06/2017 07:20

It has nothing to do with how he looks.

Which is why it isn't sexist as I NEVER see women doing this!

OP posts:
Bananamanfan · 20/06/2017 07:34

I hate it! Topless on a bus is really rude, especially when it's so hot. Extremely arrogant to wedge your sweaty naked body next to a stranger. Even McDonalds used to have a sign saying "tops must be worn, no rollerskates" Grin

BitchQueen90 · 20/06/2017 07:43

I hate it too. At the beach/in the garden/ etc fine. Not walking around the local town centre. Same as I don't want to see women in bikini tops or with bum cheeks hanging out their shorts when I'm doing my shopping. There's a time and a place.

Ohyesiam · 20/06/2017 16:28

I've always worked with bodies, from nursing to movement therapist, so I'm quite laid back about bodies. I don't mind a bare torso, ( though would be better of we could do it too, obviously), but for some reason I get riled if they are sunburnt. Makes me want to shout " put it away you foolish man ".
