To be considering leaving my washing outside all night??

Just got in from work and have a busy day tomorrow. Aibu to consider doing a couple of loads of laundry this evening then hanging them out to dry overnight and either bring them in tomorrow morning if they are dry or after work if they aren't?
My garden is fully enclosed and there are no rumours of underwear thieves around (wouldn't want my big granny pants anyway!!).
I honestly don't know if this is a wrong thing to do or not after reading something on here about laundry getting 'the dark' (and not really knowing what that is)??

YABU. Birds sit on the washing line as soon as they wake up & poo on the clothes.

WatchingFromTheWings · 19/06/2017 19:16

Im doing all my washing this evening and hanging it out for the night!

Clalpolly · 19/06/2017 19:17

I am toying with the idea of letting my stuff get darked on. Sadly the fear has overtaken me and I must get it in.

Clalpolly · 19/06/2017 19:24

My dh has come to my rescue. Btw, he very much enjoys the concept of darked on and spider willies. And knew someone from childhood who had similar ideas.
But he needs one of the shirts currently on the line.
Maybe tomorrow we can wash stuff with a view to getting it darked on.

Violetcharlotte · 19/06/2017 19:24

Do you know, I was just thinking the same.. do I risk getting it DARKED ON?!

bellabasset · 19/06/2017 19:24

Left the duvet out overnight. Okay if no-one is having a BBQ or outside fire in a chimnea, just be careful leaving coloured clothes as they fade in the sunlight during the day at this time of year.

fuzzywuzzy · 19/06/2017 19:25

I did it last night as I ran several washes and hung out last wash before bedtime. Was all dry in the morning, do it, I can finally see the bottom of my wash basket.

Firenight · 19/06/2017 19:27

I put two loads out last night after getting home at 8 and putting them through. Dry and ready to put away this morning. It's logical this time of year.

GherkinSnatch · 19/06/2017 19:28

Well now that I know about spider willies, I can't get the image of a spider rubbing it's willy over your washing under the cloak of darkness out of my head.

Hotfootit · 19/06/2017 19:29

Very often after dark is the only time I have to hang out a wash. I'm an obsessive met office watcher so I can be sure it won't rain on my washing in the next 24 hours (or more). And if it does rain I usually leave it out til it dries again (is that bad?)

NC4now · 19/06/2017 19:29

The morning sun cancels out the darking. I love my washing sunned on in the morning.

Mrsemcgregor · 19/06/2017 19:40

My washing is getting sunsetted on right now, it will be darker on before I go to bed though.

But I will get it in so it won't get red dawned on.

AGnu · 19/06/2017 19:43

Usually we tumble dry everything but yesterday I told DH we were not putting it on in this weather. I hung up the wash in the evening, feeling v MN-ish at the thought of it getting darked on, only for DH to bring it in as soon as it got dark! I was not impressed! He's away at the weekend so I'm really hoping the weather will be good enough to hang the washing overnight. I'll take a photo to text to him so he will know about the spider willies but not be able to do anything about it!

dementedma · 19/06/2017 19:46

Two full lines of washing out tonight. This far north there is no darkening at all at this time of year. A gloaming maybe or a dusky twilight around 1o'clock, but the darkness has been banished.

RiversrunWoodville · 19/06/2017 19:49

My washing is regularly darked on and so far no trace of anything connected to spiders or willies Grin

RandomUsernameHere · 19/06/2017 19:54

Hotfootit I've done that too

mygorgeousmilo · 19/06/2017 19:56

I've been hanging mine out deliberately overnight the last couple of weeks. Doesn't get dried to a crisp and I have time to fold and put away before I leave in the morning. Do it

GingerLucy · 19/06/2017 19:57

I do it all the time, I work 12 hour shifts so if I know it is going to be nice, like tonight, the laundry h as been pegged out and will stay out there until tommorow

MaddeningtheUnhelpful · 19/06/2017 20:04

Hanging my washing out at 10.30 this morning, two spiders attacked me. One got my eye, the other my cleavage... I fear spiders willy waggle on them whether it's night or day Confused

P1nkP0ppy · 19/06/2017 20:06

How the heck are adders going to slither their bums over it FanaticalFox ? To my knowledge they can't climb 🙂
At least being darker on is preferable to bird poo or fly spots on the washing.

Fortybingowings · 19/06/2017 20:08

The cats might climb up and pee on it Grin
Mine is going on the line when the cycle finishes in half an hour

StrongerThanIThought76 · 19/06/2017 20:12

I'm just about to hang mine out, spider willies are the only ones my bed sheets will be seeing for a bit!!

Saladd0dger · 19/06/2017 20:13

I have been doing this all week. In fact Iv been that lazy screaming baby Iv just folded it into piles and leave it on the chairs to

SabineUndine · 19/06/2017 20:13

I leave mine out for days at a time!

elephantoverthehill · 19/06/2017 20:32

Beware the acid rain! Oh 50 years out of date
