To wish that someone would discover my secrit?

We have magnetic letters on our fridge, which my brother bought me just before we last went on holiday, in memory of the previous holiday which had magnetic letters on the fridge, where we indulged in a childish game of editing the other person's words by as few letters as possible. The best bit was when he wrote "homophobic nutter" and I changed it to "homophonic butter". Anyway...

The letters went on holiday, and came home and now they live on the fridge. For a while, we were changing the writing several times a day, now it can be weeks before inspiration strikes.

A few months ago I was doing some colouring with a child, and came home with a picture of an octopus, which I proceeded to put on the fridge, stuck there with the letters "octapus" (it's a cheap set - only one of each letter). Later, I decided to write the word "secrit" behind the picture - it's now stuck on at the corners with other magnets, with a small but I think noticable bulge where "secrit" is written.

That was about a month ago, and no one's seen it! I keep checking, because I'm sure if someone found it, they would change it to notify me they'd seen it, but no one has! Sad

So, AIBU to wish that someone would discover my "secrit"?

And whilst I'm waiting, what are the similarly silly things your family does?

Many years ago, when my sibling was in the first throes of teendom, it was decided that they could have their bedroom redecorated.
A smart grey & red theme was chosen: grey walls & door, with red woodwork.
Dad I I spattered red paint up one wall, scrawled "Jack woz ere", then papered over it.
I wonder if the people who bought the house some 20 years later redecorated, and if they found our bad taste joke.

We don't have any secret stuff going on nowadays, but dying to know what your "secret" is .....

GetTheGoodLookingGuy · 18/06/2017 20:47

The word "secrit" (not enough letters to spell it properly, because there's only one of each letter) written in magnetic letters behind a picture on the fridge, MrsExpo

My sister and I have been sending the same handful of (fucking annoying) confetti to each other in cards for a decade.

Not every card, just once every 18 months or so, a lovely card, brim-full with annoying confetti that the recipient then has to painstakingly collect, store and re-send when the other one will least expect it.

We use fake handwriting on the envelope.

MatchsticksForMyEyes · 18/06/2017 20:53

I do the last two of yours Nellie. I also do the "Hello tired!" etc to the kids at work.
Once my stepdaughters asked me for ice cream at the zoo and I jokingly said they'd have to say "Please, O fabulous one!" So they did Blush

MrsExpo · 18/06/2017 20:55

.... I get that, but what is it? ..... (as we'll never be able to move the picture to reveal it ourselves ..... Smile)

It's just the word "secrit" written in fridge magnets behind a picture on the fridge.
I don't think op has an actual secret

My mum has a small blackboard in her kitchen.
A few months back I was drying up dishes after a Sunday lunch, and I drew a small but perfectly formed penis on the board.
She didn't notice for WEEKS! I'd actually forgotten about it when she text me to ask me if I knew anything about it. She didn't suspect me initially as I'd not had any opportunity for a while.

Whenever the DC ask what's for tea I answer with earwigs on toast. They now ask 'what's really for tea' - I still answer earwigs on toast.

ExH and I used to add fake entries to the household calendar. Things like Fri 24 June, National Wear No Pants Day; Sunday 6th August, All Husbands Must Wear Bobblehats Today; Mon 9th October, Buy Harrietschulenberg A Big Present Today.

He still adds things now and again when he visits and I pencil stuff in his work diary when he leaves it unattended.

I don't get it.....

liquidrevolution · 18/06/2017 21:15

Thats a good idea harriet

My parents have a set of otnamental houses with the letters for 'merry christmas' on. Its a tradition that us kids rearrange them to spell rude words. Sadly its only once a year.

allegretto · 18/06/2017 21:15

When two of us fold big sheets or tablecloths, we have to curtsey to each other each time we meet in the middle.

Supersoaryflappypigeon · 18/06/2017 21:15

Any mention of tractors :

"I used to be a fan of tractors..."

gwenneh · 18/06/2017 21:18

We do the same thing with the letters from our kids' toys.

Only we have two sets, so the writing can get quite complex!

SheDoneAlreadyDoneHadHerses · 18/06/2017 21:18

DP voices our cat. She tends to ask me about treats, meat food products, and tell me about all the boy cats she's been shagging.

Livedandlearned · 18/06/2017 21:18

My friends and I used to send each other Christmas and birthday cards from made up people and sometimes real people. We've gone too far once or twice but that just adds to the fun.

I hope we never grow up.

RB68 · 18/06/2017 21:18

Our family always has weird names for slightly odd things - so the shed at the bottom of a garden which was a bit fancy became the swiss chalet at my sisters and their randomly oversized kitchen cupboard that was really deep became the pokey hole. Our two veg beame "the graves" and we randomly rename roads and places after stuff that makes no sense so a rd locally has a house on it called witsend and we call it witsend rd or the rd to witsend

MarklahMarklah · 18/06/2017 21:19

This has reminded me of something DH & I used to do. Every so often, we'd have bananas & cream for a pudding. For some reason, we devised a little tune to which the words, "bananas and cream" had to be sung. No singing, no pudding!

RB68 · 18/06/2017 21:19

oh and we voice the dog...often

viques · 18/06/2017 21:20

When I buy a present for a certain family member they always have a reference to a certain animal (not saying for outing purposes) could be on the card, or wrapping paper, could be part of the present - last time it was a foldable parachute silk shopping bag with the animal on. I keep my eye out through the year for little bits and pieces, it's amazing what you can find.

Been going on for quite a few years now, birthday and Christmas......
