What DO you like doing in the heat?

As a change from the threads moaning about the heat, let's have one about the things we like doing, or are looking forward to. No moaning about downsides allowed, there are many other threads for that! Grin

Some of mine are:

Being barefoot in the garden.
Relaxing in the paddling pool. (We have an adult-sized one!)
Swimming outdoors - I'm especially fond of Hampstead ponds.

Staying inside in the air conditioning and surfing the internet.

I loathe the heat.

sonlypuppyfat · 18/06/2017 03:16

Nothing, I hate the heat and I hate the summer

Scrumpernickel · 18/06/2017 03:27

I love all the seasons. When it's warm I like;

Eating outdoors (food always tastes better outdoors)

Walking barefoot on grass and sand

Flaunting my toes in sandals

Fruit Pastille ice pops

The feel of sun on my skin (in the UK it's something you feel so rarely)

Sleeping with just a sheet covering me

Avoiding all the bores who wang on about how hot it is and how they can't wait for Autumn.

Having an alcoholic drink during the day just because it's warm

Sunglasses (although to be fair I wear them year round)

Swimming in the sea

PicaPauAmarelo · 18/06/2017 03:28

It's winter where I am so I'm looking forward to going in the pool again and thunderstorms. Summer thunderstorms are amazing.

Scrumpernickel · 18/06/2017 03:32

Ice in your drink instantly melting.

It's England not the Equator.

EsmesBees · 18/06/2017 03:36

I love sitting in the sun, getting a tan, reading, drinking extremely cold Pimm's. Unfortunately, I have a three week old and a toddler, so most of the time is spent with small, hot, cranky people attached to me in the shade.

Nquartz · 18/06/2017 07:25

Drying washing outside, not having to spend ages thinking what to do/where to go (park/garden/splashpad) not setting foot in soft play! Wearing flip flops, feet finally warm enough, sitting in the garden with our neighbours while the DDs play.
The only thing I dislike is seemingly constant sun cream application on DD

startwig1982 · 18/06/2017 07:56

Sitting under a tree reading. Brilliant yesterday with the kids playing in the paddling pool and being able to relax under the tree.

ForalltheSaints · 18/06/2017 07:58

Watching cricket. Remembering the large hat and plenty of water and suncream.

WashBasketsAreUs · 18/06/2017 10:27

I love the summer when we actually get one! I grew up in Australia and pretty much in the summer you could guarantee it would be hot and not rain. The thing about UK summers is that at some point it will rain! I hate rain.

ginghamstarfish · 18/06/2017 13:24

Whinging about it. Hate it, not being able to wear proper clothes, hate being sweaty, not being able to sleep properly. Roll on Autumn I say!

Iamastonished · 18/06/2017 19:51

What do you mean by not wearing proper clothes? What's wrong with a summer dress and some sandals? Or a skirt and short sleeve too, or cropped trousers and short sleeved top?

What a ridiculous comment.

ShelaghTurner · 18/06/2017 19:57

Maybe not everyone suits sleeveless and cropped?

LostMyLunchMoney · 18/06/2017 20:21

Driving is no longer a chore - but an opportunity to spend time in the air con. Traffic jams a bonus.Grin

OhSoggyBiscuit · 18/06/2017 20:33

Going outside at 6am when the day is new and it's cooler outside.
Long summer evenings
Stopping and watching bumblebees gather on flowers or a patch of lavender.

Camomila · 18/06/2017 20:45

Eating ice cream
Having picnics
Swimming

DH and I shared a pimms slushy today. It was lovely, we should we have got one each.

Tomorrow DS and I are off to our nearest park with a paddling pool :)

I love the cooler morning before the heat, drinkingmy tea in the garden

Watering my pots in the evening, feeling the mist on my hot feet

Fluffyears · 18/06/2017 21:46

Love sunshine but my weekend has been ruined by hay fever. Damn you fucking pollen🤧😭. I have tried every medication and remedy going 😫.

INeedANameChange · 18/06/2017 22:12
