Is it me, or does this weather just make many people such arses?

As in: competition in nearly every garden as to who can have the smelliest smokiest BBQ,

who can play ntheir loud trash ''music'' the loudest- even taking their giant loudspeakers to the middle of the garden. and its all a mash of drum n bass, Bollywood, (C)rap, offensive lyrics etc. whole street shaking like that scene in jurrasic park when the t-rex is approaching.

who can stay out the longest, as in, all bloody night even though the law says theres not supposed to be excessive noise after 11pm? ( and no one can complain as the police/noise enforcement people CBA)

the ones who go down the local pubs and come back shouting like football chanting at all hours of the day and night throwing beer cans and peeing and shitting in peoples front gardens?-yes, its happened.

the mobile ''music'' boxes in souped up crap cars?

dog walking and letting dogs shit everywhere at all hours of day and barking dogs through the night?

mowing lawns/cutting hedges with those trimmer things that are loud at stupid o clock in the morning and stupider o clock at night?

those awful trampolines and lay-zee-spa things that kids and adults MUST use at the same stupid o clock times?

and I guess someone will say this is England, its rare we get such hot weather, once in a while is okay....crap! its every single time the sun dares to show its face, been over a month already, and will go on till mid sept or so

I pray for rain- (My best Victor Meldrew yet!)

I'm not even bothering to try to put the DC to bed as there would be no point. The music outside is so loud it penetrates through the windows so they wouldn't be able to sleep anyway. And why is it that those who blast noise have no taste?

Am with you titteroftwit.

steff13 · 17/06/2017 22:13

Do British people still refer to Fahrenheit these days? I though it was just an American thing.

I used Fahrenheit because I'm American. Most other people on here use Celsius.

titteroftwit. exactly.

Have wished for many many years we could live in the Northenmost part of Scotland.

Am more thAN happy to swap with anyone therew anting 32 degrees in the SE, the hottest place in the UK.

ad no, it doesn't ease, weve had hot summers for the past 4 years. This summer seems to be the worst.

and yes, last nights million parties didn't finish (most of them) till about 4am, and therew as one still going till 12 noon today!

and the reason the council/police CBA is because it happens every year, it happens so many times they have no control over them anymore and don't listen to complaints as the neighbours then do something different to piss us all off to make more noise in any way they can.

Police and council don't bother with much round here, that's a fact.

poor DC is so grumpy today as she couldn't sleep a wink last night due to the heat and noise. shes been sleeping since after lunch and is still asleep now (all the feckwits must be asleep now, wish I was antisocial and had a massive sound system and give them a taste of their own medicine!)

On another thread and topic I read about German rules about 'quiet times'
[QUIET TIME (Ruhezeit): Quiet time is from 8 p.m. until 7 a.m. and all day Sundays and holidays. A little quiet snoring is allowed, but house and garden appliances and machinery are off limits. No midnight clothes washing or Sunday afternoon lawn mowing.]

Oh what I would give to have this rule . I would even give up my love for midnight washing and darked on clothes just as long as everyone else abided by the same laws.

toffeeboffin · 19/06/2017 02:01

I've spent the entire day indoors with the air conditioning. Bliss.

Well, we went to the the market this morning but was home by 10am.

toffeeboffin · 19/06/2017 02:03

These German rules sound alright.

Are they official too? Or everyone in Germany behaves anyway and just does as the rules say without the police / deutsch polizie?

AcrossthePond55 · 19/06/2017 02:37

High of 104f here today, overnight low is expected to be around 80. Tomorrow's high predicted to be 106. Fuck me it's hot! And expected to be in triple digits all week.

We're planning on heading up to the Sierras on Tuesday to get out of the heat.

Heat makes all of us 'tetchy'.

bakedbeansandtuna · 19/06/2017 03:30

It's the constant noise and the fact that it seems to give people a free pass to be as noisy and selfish as possible. I like summer - but I don't like how it makes some folk behave.

SomeOtherFuckers · 19/06/2017 04:15

I'm a bar maid ... soooo many more fights, drunk people being rowdy, vomitters, people expecting us to stay open past licence, people sneaking in their own drinks and leches when it's hot like this.

Someone vomited onto the bar/me/into someone else's pint the other day.

Oh well at least I have meetings 9-5pm tommorrow HmmSad

SomeOtherFuckers · 19/06/2017 04:17

Oh and I was inside all day today and still got a mozzie bite on my arse Angry

SomeOtherFuckers · 19/06/2017 04:18

Plus everyone's moody here when it's hot vs abroad because nowhere has aircon and when they do you're dressed for heat so you're shivering

dudsville · 19/06/2017 08:40

People can be dicks. As pp say, not only is there the correlation between heat and crime, people can also act like their in Ibiza.

TheSnowFairy · 19/06/2017 08:53

Downside: hayfever

Upside: having to get an entire new summer wardrobe for work

TwatteryFlowers · 19/06/2017 10:08

Where I used to live (on a corner of a street, in the middle of a rough estate, opposite an off-licence) I used to hope for rain. The teens who used to hang around outside the shop harassing anyone who came in or out to buy them booze, getting drunk, bouncing their ball, kicking the crap out of my fence, pissing against my car (that was parked in my drive), fighting and generally being a nuisance would go and find a bus shelter when it rained. I loved it!

I think people get arsey when they have to be in close proximity to other people in hot weather. Sitting here in my cool, east-facing living room with the fan on I feel fine. Yesterday, at a car show that was a lot more popular than expected, I lost my temper with a man who actually moved me out of the way when I was at the till buying my wine. I was half way through a transaction and it was as though he thought I would just cancel it and let him have his turn. If I hadn't have been so hot and bothered I wouldn't have said anything.

thetemptationofchocolate · 19/06/2017 11:54

I am on the verge of doing violence to the men who are cutting hedges outside my office window. They have been doing it for four hours. I think I'd be justified, wouldn't I?

RortyCrankle · 19/06/2017 11:57

I'm obviously fortunate not to experience what you describe, OP. On the other hand, being partially deaf probably helps Grin

QuiQuaiQuod · 19/06/2017 14:37

Rorty Me and DC are deaf in one ear each, that's how loud these wers are!

Katedotness1963 · 19/06/2017 15:01

I'd much rather be back home in the north of Scotland where I see they were expecting a high of 16 instead of here were the high is expected to be over 30 all week.

TrinityTaylor · 19/06/2017 15:21

Tbh it sounds like you live in a bit of a "choice" area!! And I live in a not massively popular inner suburb of Manchester! We get the odd speaker playing Stormzy at full volume complete with swearing but that's usually coming from my teenage dd sunbathing out in the car park Grin

TrinityTaylor · 19/06/2017 15:21

Please note my above post is light hearted don't hate me haha
