It's just one M, and it would make more sense

Someone needs to put a bit of brown tape on the top of the 'O' and make it Rubin

Why? Hmm

Cock Robin Woods
Cock Rubin Woods = Cock Rubbing Woods

Oohh - now I get it! (dur)

A sign for Hutton Roof used to be Button Moon for years and years. I haven't passed that way in a long time but I hope it still is!

Funny enough and obviously meant to start a thread with similar things, which it has.

Loving the number of people who are obviously "too intelligent" to find humour and take more pleasure from pointing out they have a piece of knowledge that they assume others don't have than just having a bit of a lighthearted giggle.

There's a little village called Jump, in Barnsley.
On the 'Welcome to Jump' sign at the entrance to the village, some wag had written underneath, Welcome to Hell'.

There is a lane near where I grew up with small lay-bys to allow cars to pass. When I was about 10 they formalised these by putting "Passing Place" signs in. For 30 years I have wanted to stop, add an extra "i" and hang a plastic fish under the sign.

The is a road by me called Cockle dicks lane by me makes me laugh every time I pass it.

ErrolTheDragon · 19/06/2017 11:07

Oh yes - last time we passed by there (en route to Rotten Row which wasn't rotten at all Smile) I was wondering about the origins. Probably just where a cockler called Dick lived, I suppose?

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 19/06/2017 11:28

In central Oxford there is a Ship Street and a Turl Street.
No prizes for guessing the regular alterations.

BikeRunSki · 19/06/2017 11:33

Near Newcastle University there is a Saint Thomas Street. The sign says St Thomas St. This confuses overseas students almost constantly.

When I saw one of these on the M6 I sorely wished for a red marker pen :)

Laiste I'll see what I can do! (Or not cos I'm too much of a wimp to do anything on such a busy road!)
