It's just one M, and it would make more sense

😂 nice one.

Wellmeetontheledge · 17/06/2017 16:55

There is a road near me called 'Chrismas road'.
I always wonder if it is meant to to be called that.

thatwouldbeanecumenicalmatter · 17/06/2017 16:56

My 6 year old would get the Hammer time one 😁

Ratonastick · 17/06/2017 16:57

Some years ago one of the farmers near me put up a homemade sign to say MUD after the tractors dragged muck onto the road. Within days someone had put up a second one saying SHOWADDYWADDY. Made the national papers!

FruBayerischOla · 17/06/2017 17:02

A friend told me that on the Council grit bin in his road, someone had used a Sharpie and written the word TRUE before the word GRIT!

nocoolnamesleft · 17/06/2017 17:16

If the little village of Bothel ever gains an extra "r", and a dodgy reputation, it won't have anything to do with me, because I can resist temptation.

Papafran · 17/06/2017 17:20

Construction is not the same as mending though? Or is there a special meaning that I am missing?

PelvicFloorClenchReminder · 17/06/2017 17:24

There's a Polstain Crescent near us - people keep changing the l to an o. Makes me giggle.

I am a grown up. Honest I am.

PoloStar · 17/06/2017 17:27

papafran it's a joke.... not to be taken too literally Smile

YolandiFuckinVisser · 17/06/2017 17:28

I used to live near a road called The Lunt. Guess what that was amended to on a regular basis!

ginswinger · 17/06/2017 17:29

My local mosque has a huge sign in the car park saying 'Clamps in Use'
I really want to add the word 'nipple' but I suspect they have CCTV.
Can't blame them really.

BalloonSlayer · 17/06/2017 17:57

My elderly mum was displeased that someone had taken a pen to a sign reading Hill House Road. They had added a t at the start and inserted a little r to turn it into Thrill House Road.

"Wouldn't have happened in my day," she grumbled. "When i was young we'd have added an S at the front and crossed the ls to turn them into ts - then you'd have Shitt House Road."

She went to bed muttering about what the youth of today are coming to.

Coffeethrowtrampbitch · 17/06/2017 18:03

My sister lives in a street called Dick's Park.

There used to be a field inhabited by a horse called Richard there, hence the name.

The sign is vandalised on a regular basis to remove the apostrophe and s!

Papafran · 17/06/2017 18:07

Yeah, I did get that... But I thought maybe I missed something because it doesn't make much sense. But anyway... I would definitely get the Stopcock Inside thing that someone mentioned upthread and would find it pretty funny.

zebbadeedooda · 17/06/2017 18:11

I don't understand how Construction Mends is funny. Is it a play on words? Double meaning?Confused

TiredMumToTwo · 17/06/2017 18:14

I used to drive into Crewe every day for work & somebody had altered the "CREWE" sign with an S & D to read "SCREWED", I always thought it was quite poetic as the place has a really miserable look about it.

Mrsemcgregor · 17/06/2017 18:17

I lived near a estuary where there was a public hard.

The sign of course was graffitied to say "public hard on" Grin

Also lived near Anker Close, that regularly has a rogue W

LemonyFresh · 17/06/2017 18:17

Doggy that's better than the xenophobic 'Creweski' signs I see around Crewe

FatLittleWombat · 17/06/2017 18:20

I don't get the construction mends either. Why is it funny?

namechange20050 · 17/06/2017 18:22

Another one not understanding why 'construction mends' is funny. Can someone explain?

WunWun · 17/06/2017 18:28

I drove past a sign for Shilbottle once which had had the first l crossed.

VerityHabitat · 17/06/2017 18:28

It's just kind of funny, not laugh out loud funny.

TheMeaningOfLifeIs42 · 17/06/2017 18:45

Waves to pelvicfloorclenchreminder as you live in the same village as me :)

HibiscusIsland · 17/06/2017 18:57

Can someone explain Construction Mends to those of us who don't understand.

zebbadeedooda · 17/06/2017 19:00

Construction Bends
Construction Sends
Construction Lends
Construction Friends
Construction Fends

Are these meant to be funny too?

Confused
