Surely, these should warrant some serious types of social service input, yes?

She didn't need food to nourish the baby in her womb, her love was enough to make him grow. What drivel.

MrsTerryPratchett · 15/06/2017 15:43

It's clearly utter bollocks. But even if it wasn't, you cannot legislate what women do with their own bodies during pregnancy. You just can't. And I say that as someone who works with very young mums and their sometimes substance-impacted babies.

Topseyt · 15/06/2017 15:45

I had to Google to see what it was too.

The answer is that it is a load of utter bollocks.

luckylucky24 · 15/06/2017 15:47

It says they don't expect the kids to abstain so they are eating.
Pretty sure it said she didn't eat at all during her first pregnancy.

“With my first child, I practised a Breatharian pregnancy. Hunger was a foreign sensation to me so I fully lived on light and ate nothing.

Breatharian by day, seefood eater by night...

NomDePlumeReloaded · 15/06/2017 15:54

Sorry, you lost me at 'midwives. Not medically oriented nurse midwives'

So what you are saying is you have no medical training? She poo poos medical midwifery and medical intervention and then asked what the benefits of her snake oil agenda are, immediately points to 'medical benefits' for the foetus. People like this are fucking dangerous.

sparechange · 15/06/2017 15:55

It's rubbish. They eat.

Every time there has been an attempt by researchers or a tv programme to film them 24/7, they've given up after a few days

This Morning used to have some mad american woman who claimed to be a Breatherian bar the occasional glass of orange juice. She made some appalling comments about how people could have survived the Houlocaust if they had embraced the breatharian life, and then back peddled saying the air would have been too toxic in the death camps

They filmed her, and for a couple of days, she lived her breatharian life. And then she was hospitalised.

When they called her out on it, she blamed the toxic fumes from the camera equipment or something

They are all frauds

I remember reading an article about a breatharian years ago. She was some sort of instructor in it, but swore blind she ate literally nothing. The journalist reported that she had a discussion about some flights within earshot of him and ordered the vegetarian in flight meal and then told him "I'm not actually going to EAT it" when she realised he heard Hmm

CoralDreamscapes · 15/06/2017 15:57

"But even if it wasn't, you cannot legislate what women do with their own bodies during pregnancy."

No you can't, but you can use (and it is used currently) the attitudes that women display during pregnancy to instigate a safeguarding case / review - this happens sometimes in the cases of addiction and mental health.

Hunger was a foreign sensation to me so I fully lived on light and ate nothing.

Is she full of chlorophyll, or something?

StealthPolarBear · 15/06/2017 16:09

:D pick

StealthPolarBear · 15/06/2017 16:10

And op I definitely see what you mean about ss involvement but I'd argue it's delusion related rather than diet

NeedsAsockamnesty · 15/06/2017 16:16

Delusion my arse.

It's a con plain and simple.

YoloSwaggins · 15/06/2017 16:18

Absolute BS, they made it up to get in the paper.

If they actually weren't eating, they'd be emaciated/dead.

If "breatharianism" was a thing, then there's be no starving Ethiopians.

Tazerface · 15/06/2017 16:20

What a pair of tits. Nice, round healthy ones, sustained with actual food.

Obvious liars are obvious.

stopfuckingshoutingatme · 15/06/2017 16:23

My gran was always overweight - on the days she ate, she ATE. Lol

that made me Grin, so what's the point then!!!

Venusflytwat · 15/06/2017 16:32

Breatharians are liars or dead. So this silly fool is a liar.

Butteredparsnip1ps · 15/06/2017 16:43

Bless. They've got their name in the papers and everything!

TheWeeBabySeamus1 · 15/06/2017 16:48

What a load of bollocks. If they didn't eat they'd be skeletal, they look like they're normal weight to me.

It pisses me off though - what about people all over the world that die from starvation? Is that their own fault for not being "connected to the universe"?

LaurieFairyCake · 15/06/2017 16:56

Or they could be deluded.

If you ate a highly calorific meal every couple of days you could look like her. I'm trying to think of whatever the highest calorie meal is to eat every couple of days and maintain weight.

BluePancakes · 15/06/2017 17:02

It's bollocks. I suffered with HG I my first pregnancy, where at my worst I could only keep down a single plain hula-hoop and single sip of water. In my first trimester alone, I lost 3 stone. Luckily for DD1 I was fat had plenty of reserves for her to feed on, so though I needed extra scans as she was small for dates, she was perfectly healthy (and now at 9yo she's still petite and still healthy). In the HG community women often need to be hospitalised for rehydration and there have been cases where women have unfortunately died, despite medical intervention.

Kpo58 · 15/06/2017 17:05

I suggest that the Breatharians go on Secret Eaters as they are obviously in denial over what they eat.
