Not posting this to start a massive politics debate I'm just interested in the above question.

I voted labour, I put something about it on social media and a few older people have commented saying I obviously don't have "brains or life experience as them" & "young ones voting labour don't know what they are getting themselves in for".

I'm hoping I'll be proved wrong.
Not that it matters but I'm late 20s and those who made these comments range between 50-60.

Hope this doesn't come across as ageist, it's not my intention at all Blush

DH and I are in our mid 40s. My dad is in his early 70s. We all voted Labour.

WhiskyChick · 10/06/2017 19:27

I'm late thirties and I was pretty astounded that they assumed that the swing was from people newly able to vote

Jellykat · 10/06/2017 19:28

I'm 53, DS1 28, DS2 19

WhittersE · 10/06/2017 19:28

DH and I are early 30s and both voted Labour. My parents and in-laws are in their mid-50s and voted Labour.

My grandparents, who are in their mid-80s, also voted Labour. Pretty sure they have some life experience!!

Waxlyrically · 10/06/2017 19:35

48 - always have other than a brief dalliance with the lib/ dems during the Blair years. 20 yr old DD also voted labour. We're in a firmly Tory seat though sadly.

SaskiaRembrandtWasFramed · 10/06/2017 19:40

I'm 50, I was a teenager under Thatcher, I will never vote Tory.

LordBuckley · 10/06/2017 19:40

I'm nearly 70 and I would have voted Labour if the British government hadn't taken my vote away from me (expat).

I still had the vote while Blair was leader, and voted LD rather than vote for him.

I think it's great that Corbyn's trying to take the party back to its socialist roots.

I'm 31. DM is 62. Neither of us are big fans of Scottish Labour and their jobs for the boys behaviour but it's always been a case of going with whatever option would be strongest against the Tories and, as this was a UK election, it was Labour for us. DM's dad was a miner and she would sooner vote for a shite on a stick than a Tory. Some memories don't ever fade, I think.

I voted Green last time but there was no Green candidate in my new constituency. Which is now Tory, after being SNP for ages. Planning on writing to my new MP re: the DUP and women's rights and also the stream of anti Catholic bigotry coming from several Scottish Tories on social media, considering his constituency is one of the most Catholic in Scotland.

Buckinghambae · 10/06/2017 19:50

  1. I have moved between LD and Labour over the years, but agreed with every word of the manifesto.

I am seriously considering joining the party now.
