yes

ImaWurzel · 19/03/2007 19:24

I reckon it's ok in moderation.
(Wurz runs away to find a big wall to cower behind)

tassis · 19/03/2007 19:24

I'm shocked too

and a little amused

(I take it you knew this from your childhood with slightly different words?)

hairymclary · 19/03/2007 19:25

haha i remember learning that at school too. Not entirely sure why though

Twiglett · 19/03/2007 19:25

I'm ROFLing too .. I'm just a little shocked

Oh this really makes me go
It's like being forced to sing the company song in China.
Yes, I'm all for schools feeding children healthy lunches, and even for lunchbox policies, but this isn't education, it is propaganda. And pizza IS NOT JUNK! (and neither is a small portion of chips and cheese/hamburger with an orange juice and an apple, actually)

ImaWurzel · 19/03/2007 19:26

I learnt it at guides.

Aloha · 19/03/2007 19:27

I presume when you say 'learned' you mean, taught by teachers? If just learned in the playground, that's obviously fine

VeniVidiVickiQV · 19/03/2007 19:28

Aloha, you have to admit, it does depend where you buy it from as to whether it is nutritious.

Psycho · 19/03/2007 19:28

They played this at our school disco.

One mother complained at the PFA meeting about it, everyone nodded at the meeting but then Pissed themselves laughing behind her back as the uptight mother.

I did wonder at the time if she was a MNer, and looked out for her outraged thread

ImaWurzel · 19/03/2007 19:28

Brown Owl. I didn't learn much there only stayed for 1 month!
Mum wouldn't buy all the stuff needed.

It's used to be our brownies official camp song.

WelshBoris · 19/03/2007 19:29

Is it JunkFood week on Mn?

DrMarthaMcMoo · 19/03/2007 19:29

I find the whole 'brainwashing' aspect of it distasteful, tbh.

Ds1 and ds2 have both been subject to this complete polarisation of foods at school into "good" and "bad", whereas I tend to take the...oh dare I say it..."moderation in all things" line. That doesn't mean they have junk food all the time - I generally cook from scratch, they eat well and I can't remember the last time they went to McD's and they've never been to KFC...but when ds1 (then aged about 6) starts saying of the grated cheese for his spaghetti bolognese "I won't have any, Mum, because cheese is bad for you" I start to see red.

And my friend's little boy (at the same age) was hysterical one night thinking he was going to have a heart attack because he's had a piece of chocolate cake after his dinner - "and chocolate cake makes you fat and then you have a heart attack and you die!"

I'd rather ds2 have a piece of chocolate cake than the slimy carrots he's been given recently as a "healthy snack".

juuule · 19/03/2007 19:30

Mine learned a version of this at Rainbows (no junk food lines). It had other verses too. Such as: -
A Ford Escort, a Ford Escort,
Mini, Mini, Mini and a Ford Escort.
Ferrari, Ferrari, Mini,Mini,Mini and a Ford Escort.
Just nonsense songs giving rhythm I thought.

Twiglett · 19/03/2007 19:30

I particularly like the juxtaposition of this song segueying immediately into

What shall we do with the drunken sailor

yes Aloha taught by teachers

No, I think a Pizza Hut pizza is every bit as nutritious as a Pizza Express one....it's just a lot less nice and middle class

And chips from macdonalds are exactly the same as ones from Cafe Rouge.

Aloha · 19/03/2007 19:31

MarthaMoo, that doesn't surprise me, and it really does piss me off.

DrMarthaMcMoo · 19/03/2007 19:31

We had a school trip to Pizza Express - the manager told us most of their salads are higher in fat than their pizzas

brimfull · 19/03/2007 19:32

it's only a bloody song !!

Aloha · 19/03/2007 19:32

It's not just a song though, is it? It's a propaganda song.

brimfull · 19/03/2007 19:33

well my dd sang it at brownies/guides etc for years...she's 15 now and wouldn't step inside one of these places if you paid her!
