If you wake up and are still under conservative rule?

Not goady, just genuinely interested in how you intend to make life better for yourself and those around you

conserveisposhforjam · 09/06/2017 06:37

Yeah and they might get all those seven so a majority of 3 for that coalition. But that would be v unsteady.

Given the rw landslide we were all expecting I'm going to be having a nice day down the pub with my benefit cheque Grin.

She didn't get the mandate for hard Brexit. Well done Britain..

EngTech · 09/06/2017 06:40

Well, the sun still rose in the East this morning and will probably set in the West 😀

Shows IMHO, UK is still divided but proves that a stubby pencil and a cross on a bit of paper proves the electorate can send a message to the politicians.

A case of sit back, breath and see what unfolds over the next few days as no doubt there is a lot of horse trading going on behind the scenes 😳

KERALA1 · 09/06/2017 06:43

Strong and stable (snigger).

Thrilled that the murdoch press losing its power

DoctorDonnaNoble · 09/06/2017 06:43

They worked with the DUP in the Major years. As a leftie that was a hell of a lot better than May with a majority. However, loads of Tory MPs love ignoring the whips.

OhWhatFuckeryIsThisNow · 09/06/2017 06:46

Ive woken up proud and inspired. May called the election because she was going to crush opposition into the dirt. And almost half the voters said no. I'm incredibly proud of all those young people who got out and voted. Never been a Corbyn fan, but have been so incredibly impressed with his leadership.
I'm going to walk into work with my head high.

Probably off down the pub, using they benefit money to drink. Patting themselves on the back that the prat that is Jeremy Corbyn will increase their benefits at the expense of people like us who both work 70+ a week.

Sour grapes Mrs May? Grin

Please do not speak on my behalf - a person who works ++ hours in the NHS and is definitely happy the smarmy smile has been wiped off the faces of the Tory voter

skips off to work

forceslover · 09/06/2017 06:53

As a remainer, I'm hoping for a softer Brexit, and staying in the single market. That's why I am happy this morning. Optimism!

mummabubs · 09/06/2017 07:09

@Cinderllaspinkdresswasthebest ... snap! 😊

BoysofMelody · 09/06/2017 07:12

I'm also pondering on how the next chinless wonder to lead the Tories will needlessly shoot themselves in the foot.

TestTubeTeen · 09/06/2017 07:15

I feel absolute contempt and rage at May.

Like Cameron with the referendum, she had arrogantly gambled in pursuit of her own personal political power, whilst having no finger in the wind for how people think, feel and live.

This is, to an extent, another protest vote.

I am bloody delighted that this truly awful woman has fallen into political quicksand.

Do I think we are better off? No, I think things will be messy and detrimental. Our politics are an embarrassment.

The French seem to have ended up way better.

Sallystyle · 09/06/2017 07:21

I will go to bed happy. I am happy that I will no longer have a family member on FB laughing at people who voted Labour because Corbyn is so unlikable May will wipe the floor with him.

This evening I'll open a bottle of wine.

Sallystyle · 09/06/2017 07:23

Sorry if that makes little sense. Getting to the end of my night shift and feeling exhausted.

tardytardes · 09/06/2017 07:28

"As a remainer, I'm hoping for a softer Brexit, and staying in the single market. That's why I am happy this morning. Optimism!"

^yes me too.

A great morning.

Not a Labour voter and my Tory vote evaporates when there isn't a good majority as the DUP get involved.

Theresa May will step down. She was pushed into this after the council elections. The whole process went on far too long.

I'd like the EU Ref rerun, but can that happen with Article 50 triggered?

There'll be a lot of confused non-Jeremy Labour voters. The majority of people I know fall into this category. He will hang on until he's 90 and change the party completely.

A lot of red and blue centrists with nowhere to go today.

TheDowagerCuntess · 09/06/2017 07:44

TestTubeTeen yes!

This just shows how out of touch the Tories are, and seemingly always will be.

I fucking love the GBP.

GhostofFrankGrimes · 09/06/2017 07:50

Wonderful morning. So proud of JC and all the Labour supporters/activists.

UsedToBeAPaxmanFan · 09/06/2017 07:55

Well, this labour party supporter has woken up feeling pretty happy to be honest.

Slarti · 09/06/2017 08:02

Perhaps Corbyn will continue to make ground against the media narrative and more people will see him for what he is, rather than what they are told, which isn't a far left extremist at all but a moderate progressive.

BartholinsSister · 09/06/2017 08:06

I wonder if Labour had a better leader we wouldn't be looking at yet another Conservative victory this morning.

Londonlovely · 09/06/2017 08:11

"I wonder if Labour had a better leader we wouldn't be looking at yet another Conservative victory this morning."

WTF?

Brittbugs80 · 09/06/2017 08:11

Can Brexit be stopped or is it too late now Article 50 has been triggered?

I'm not looking forward to the uncertainty and instability ahead.

I've felt unstable (with the situation not myself!) since Brexit and I can see both sides. I've deep ingrained splinters from being sat on the fence that long!

tabbymog · 09/06/2017 08:14

After posting this... sleep!

I'm happy, it's as good as a result as we could have hoped for right now. It gives us a good platform to build on and confidence that our party leader really is the right person for the job. There's no-one else who could have galvanised all those young people who are part of this country's future, not its past. He’s principled which is desperately needed. The fact that he’s accepted a policy in the manifesto that he’s always disagreed with but recognises that most people disagree with him, demonstrates that.

I've said before, that so-called left wing parties globally have to formulate and articulate a vision of the society they want to see, and the economic and social policies needed to create that society in this rapidly changing global environment. Keep focused on that, fight the Tories issue by issue in the next parliament, and we can be optimistic about the next election. IMHO, the Tories are self-destructing, as political parties do. Theresa May has to resign, she’s shown herself to have no leadership qualities, to be far too arrogant for her own good, and her policies towards human rights terrifies me. Keir Starmer has this right.

I wonder if Labour had a better leader we wouldn't be looking at yet another Conservative victory this morning.

When the election was called there were predictions of conservative landslide increasing their majority by upwards of 100 seats. I think people getting behind corbyn is what's given us today's result. The grass roots labour membership are behind corbyn. I actually think if the parliamentary labour party had stopped their bickering and actually got behind him we'd be looking at an even better result today.

mummabubs · 09/06/2017 08:25

I had the same reaction @Londonlovely ... what utter drivel! Both points are wrong! Here is a leader who has not only triumphed in two internal leadership elections, but also increased support and seats for the Labour Party in record numbers! Don't think we need a better leader! And as for the 'Tory Victory', pray tell what victory was this? The one where they lost seats, including those that they'd held in some cases for centuries(!) or the victory where they can no longer claim a majority government? I'm genuinely intrigued to hear your reasoning BartholinsSister!
