to wonder how anyone could think Theresa May is the best person to solve the terrorist problem when she's just failed to do that for the last 7 years?

I simply don't understand how she can stand there after 3 terrorist attacks in short succession and say 'Trust me. I'll make sure there is no problem with terrorism' - when we can all see that she's been in power for 7 years, first as Home Secretary in charge of policing (cut the police force by 20,000 officers) and now as Prime Minister, and totally failed to do that?

Claiming Corbyn would be worse is a bit irrelevant - maybe he would be, maybe he wouldn't, but at least he'd fund the police properly.

I simply can't think of one single reason to believe that the Tories have a ruddy clue on security.

Newsthump puts it well:

God and there we go 'encroaching on civil liberties' you'll say suspects have human rights next and shouldn't be deported or indefinitely detained.

Are you being deliberately thick?

The encroaching on civil liberties was in relation to you and me (assuming you're not a terrorist), and her capacity to access all emails from the entire population.

Also, suspects, by definition are only suspects, not shown to be guilty. So, no they shouldn't be indefinitely detained or deported without a fair trial. With, you know, evidence.

Would you want to get a speed ticket without the police being able to produce evidence that you did deserve it?

What kind of society would the UK be if suspects were always treated as convicts?

And notice that the Terrorism Act already gives police the right to detain for longer, etc.

Seriously. Educate yourself, look at what has already been accomplished, already is in place and ask yourself what are the consequences of what you propose for your society.

Drunk people also kill when they drive. Perhaps the police should arrest every drunk suspect. And lock up for life anyone drink driving. Sounds reasonable?

Stunning betrayal of the people.

dotandstripe some wonderful details you've nicked from The Sun there Grin.

If she was so concerned about terror, why hasn't she done anything in her year as PM? Don't tell me she's been "thinking about Brexit" the whole time.

Have a reputable news source for Corbyn AND May's voting record on terrorism. She was absent for a lot of those votes surprisingly:

I should have used stronger terms then.

How about the aftual GF on this thread, MNHQ?

Lweji · 07/06/2017 13:10

Anyway, the gist was that there's no point in repeating the same thing over and over to answer the same questions.
