I've just realised I'm julienning carrots and cucumber for the moppets to dip in organic bloody hummus while admiring my shiny new bottle of craft gin.

Then I realised that they probally wont eat their fish fingers and chips now, and I spent all day mumsnetting so the house is a shit tip!

Feel free to add your own Grin

the fact that we live in a Monarchy has something to do with it

It might be apocryphal but I have heard a story that the Queen when asked how many servants she had at Buckingham Palace replied None , but [insert number] of people work there.

Which if true outclasses the posters on here.

Almondbrew · 06/06/2017 16:53

Awks yeah me too Grin

On the topic of hummus the shop bought stuff is vile. Only home made hummus in this semi-detached new built.

Almondbrew · 06/06/2017 16:54

"Which if true outclasses the posters on here." Truly classy people are mortified at the tough of being classist or even aspirational as being aspiration is so very common. Kava socialist

Coddiwomple · 06/06/2017 16:57

I don't know if it's true or not Lass, but if it is, as much as I admire the Queen, it's really hypocritical. Whatever you think of the Royal Family, you can't deny it's existence, rights or duties.

TrinityTaylor · 06/06/2017 17:00

Almond - living in a new build is a Mumsnet No No!! Your house could have been built on someone's land , won't you think of the air quality??!

LassWiTheDelicateAir · 06/06/2017 17:04

Whatever you think of the Royal Family, you can't deny it's existence, rights or duties

Er, Neither she nor I was. The point was the Queen does not refer to the Buck House employees as "servants".

Puffpaw · 06/06/2017 17:14

More to the point why is a vegan collective serving swan on toast?!

TrinityTaylor · 06/06/2017 17:22

This is probably a daft question but people don't actually eat swan, do they??!

Oldgranny · 06/06/2017 17:28

no certain not pretensions in giving a go
!!
Has anyone ever actually eaten cauliflower rice ???

Gowgirl · 06/06/2017 17:28

All swans belong to the aforementioned queen, we don't eat them....

My LB very much enjoys a snack of chorizo and stuffed olive, buggered if i can get him to eat anything other than junk food the rest of the time!

Freddie1996 · 06/06/2017 17:33

How I laughed.... My DD has sushi for her after school snack.... Only from M&S mind BUT in my defence I work there as a sales asst!!! Xx

onedogatoddlerandababy · 06/06/2017 17:34

My three year old ran past all the packets of bread in Sainsbury's whilst calling out 'I want sourdough mummy...'
An elderly gentleman just looked at her and murmured 'sourdough, eh?' 😂😂

speedynamechange73 · 06/06/2017 17:36

Just made my own elderflower cordial.

Fishwiife · 06/06/2017 17:37

I ordered cleaning balls for my le creuset decanter.....

Coddiwomple · 06/06/2017 17:38

The point was the Queen does not refer to the Buck House employees as "servants"

and my point was that, being the QUEEN with all that goes with it, it's completely irrelevant how you call them.

user1483875094 · 06/06/2017 17:40

What on earth is a Hatley Rain-Coat??? Where can I get one? How much do they cost?

Italiangreyhound · 06/06/2017 17:46

Julien carrots definitely are better! (than sliced)

choli · 06/06/2017 17:51

None of those foods would be considered MC in the US, just food.

dinosaurbum · 06/06/2017 17:53

The moment I realised I was a pretentious middle class was when we was out for dinner with family, rounding up we petit fours and coffees.

LO reached a crossed the table and grabbed a macaron.

I shrieked and yelled "no dinobum Jr that's grandmas macaron"

Also how he shakes his head when the (constantly) change the layout of M&S food hall...

These threads are always really cringe. How do people even think these things up? And how can food belong to one social class?

this with knobs on

NeedANewTattoo · 06/06/2017 18:00

We're moving to the south of France next year with in laws and currently discussing which if the 4 Range Rovers we won't need. 4 is excessive apparently but 3 completely reasonable.

MaQueen · 06/06/2017 18:02

The Dowager Queen Mary recounted an incident when a young (11/12 years old) Princess Elizabeth bumped into the American ambassador, in a corridor at Buckingham Palace - 'Now, who is this lovely little lady here?' said the ambassador genially.

Princess Elizabeth looked affronted, pointed toward the floor and commanded 'Bow, boy, you have to bow'

Dowager Queen Mary overheard the exchange in disgust, marched up to them both and introduced Princess Elizabeth as "This is the Princess Elizabeth, who one day, hopes to become a lady"

Iwanttobeanonymous · 06/06/2017 18:05

The staff at ds's school all compliment me on my wonderful packed lunches!! (Mostly he has school dinners but if they are going out I do him a home packed lunch)
He has a box of salady things/crudites with a little protein and fruit for afters. A pitta or wrap. Its lretty normal food and what he likes.. We dont call him the veg monster for nothing!!

LassWiTheDelicateAir · 06/06/2017 18:05

Has anyone ever actually eaten cauliflower rice

Once and it was horrible. A waste of a perfectly good vegetable. The same applies to "pasta" made out of courgette or squash.
