To think that I was not being a pussy over this huge spider? (Picture of spider included)

Okay I know the body isn't big but look at its long, horrible legs! This was on my curtain earlier and I didn't notice until I was watching TV and saw something move out the corner of my eye. I felt sick and called bf wailing in horror about the disgusting thing and he told me I was being a pussy and to be a man and just kill it. Well I didn't kill it (as I don't kill insects or the like except wasps and only if they sting me first) and managed to capture it into a cup under a thick magazine (feeling sick all the time!!) and released it outside. Bf said I was overreacting drama queen making it a big deal out of nothing though did say he didn't expect it to be that big when I sent him the pic!! WIBU if this spider got its way in again to capture it in a tub and wait til bfs here dozing off to sleep and then unleash it to crawl over his face to see if it's not such a big deal!?

Yes this is lighthearted and really just a reason to say look at how gross that spider is! ShockGrin

Is it just me or are the spiders getting bigger in this country? I'm sure they weren't as monstrous when I was a kid!

AdalindSchade · 03/06/2017 16:53

House spiders will die in the garden anyway.... or return. Putting them out there isn't really the kind option

Not true.

OhSoggyBiscuit · 03/06/2017 16:57

There's a spider somewhere in this room, lurking. It performed a drop attack on me on Tuesday night and I haven't seen it since...

Once a massive (by UK standards) spider walked across my living room carpet and stopped right in front of me and stared at me with his beady eyes. When I tried to catch him, he jumped/flew away. Not sure what the hell kind of spider it was, unless he moved so fast that I imagined that he jumped Confused

You need to put WARNING in the title OP

myusernameisnotmyusername · 03/06/2017 18:33

I'm not keen on that. I used to be terrified but we get a lot like this in our lean to by the side of our house. One once ran over DD's foot and she screamed and accidentally trod on it! I think there's one in my gas meter cupboard! A couple of years ago there was an opportunity to hold a tarantula so myself and dd (then 2) did it. The thing ran right up my arm! No camera though unfortunately so I have to keep reminding myself when I see one of those. Fwiw I think you deserve a lot of respect for catching it and putting it outside! Apparently if you get one that's the male and the female will be somewhere Confused

Imagine them taking part in this?

Chloe84 · 03/06/2017 18:45

You need to put WARNING in the title OP

The clue is in Picture of spider included in the title 🙄

myusernameisnotmyusername · 03/06/2017 18:56

I just caught another of those spindly ones. I looked at it will a new respect knowing they eat the big ones!

Addley · 03/06/2017 19:02

Aw :)

It's probably a tegenaria domestica. Harmless and useful.

RegTheMonkey1 · 03/06/2017 19:06

I live in the back of beyond and spiders coming in are a common occurrence. There was one regular visitor - legs like the one in the picture but a big hairy body about the size of my pinky nail. I called it the Thursday Spider, because it only ever scuttled under the living room door (very old house) on a Thursday night when my husband was out for his weekly pint. It used to saunter across the floor, smirking at me.

The worst one was when I was taking laundry out of the laundry basket and this ... this ... THING leapt out and attached itself to the front of my jumper. Do you know, I never knew I could scream that loud - I thought I had burst my eardrum.

HornyTortoise · 03/06/2017 19:45

LOL. A warning is needed even though the title clearly states that there is a picture of said huge spider? Hmm
