Eh fuckwitery

onemorecupofcoffeefortheroad · 02/06/2017 22:10

I luffs Jezza.
My Tory voting Thatcher loving father just texted me saying "Corbin for PM'
I knew he was a decent person really!
His female companion, a Daily Mail reader who voted for Brexit has texted him saying she's "all for Corbin".
I knew they'd see sense eventually 😂

user1487175389 · 02/06/2017 22:11

Saying Trident is keeping us all safe is like saying that my special spell is keeping away monsters. Well, I haven't been attacked by a monster yet, so it must be working.

Or maybe nobody really wants to nuke or invade us that much?

JugglingFromHereToThere · 02/06/2017 22:11

He was definitely better than her I felt. She looked very awkward whereas he is a much more confident public speaker. But then he has good things to say too!

I love the whole aspect of investing in people including our children and young people, for the future!

GrumpyOldBag · 02/06/2017 22:12

Corbyn just seems to be getting better and better every day.

And Theresa May worse and worse.

She had a great opportunity to show some empathy to the nurse and she totally blew it.

She looked so uncomfortable, robotic, never answers a question.

Corbyn looked relaxed and confident.

engineersthumb · 02/06/2017 22:13

I detest Corbyn for destroying the labour party, in fact I detest miliband for destroying the labour party! The whole point of trident is the "big stick", I can't stop you hitting me but I'll hit you back. Call it MAD or CASD or anything you like but it falls down if the man at the top doest categorically state they will use the system. Do we still need them? Russia, North Korea, Israel, India, Pakistan and Iran are all good reasons to have a deterrent and a simple straight forward policy.

onemorecupofcoffeefortheroad · 02/06/2017 22:13

Oops sorry about misspelling of Corbyn - was overexcited that mine and my father's political views were aligned.

GreenGinger2 · 02/06/2017 22:13

Relaxed and confident but still no answers and plenty of waffling.

Jupitar · 02/06/2017 22:14

Obviously the thought of a nuclear bomb being set off by anyone is horrifying, but it's facile to suggest supporting trident is being "keen to kill millions of people".

But that wasn't the point, they kept going on and on, will you press the red button, what circumstances would you etc etc, then they finished with that and some twat brought it up again, it's a deterrent which hopefully would never have to be used. I forget the numbers but isn't it something like there's only 6 countries with nuclear weapons out of 180 odd, how come the 170 countries without weapons have never been bombed?

McTufty · 02/06/2017 22:14

guepe

I don't think it's that hypothetical looking at the state if the world.

And lulu that woman made herself sound like an ill informed naive idiot. Lovely to sit in the audience and virtue signal, but her pathetic over simplification is actually very dangerous. Being "keen" to kill millions as she put it is actually making the death of millions less likely in this nuclear age, unless someone wants to point me to evidence mutually assured destruction is a myth.

MoominFlaps · 02/06/2017 22:15

Ffs he didn't say he wouldn't ever use it.

JugglingFromHereToThere · 02/06/2017 22:19

I thought he did well too on normalising the kind of investment in people and services being put forward - many other successful countries invest in their health and especially education and training to at least this extent.

onemorecupofcoffeefortheroad · 02/06/2017 22:20

engineersthumb Corbyn didn't destroy the Labour Party - Ed Milliband did that.

Bejazzled · 02/06/2017 22:21

I thought he answered everyone with well practiced sound bites - until the questions got difficult and he totally floundered.

StatisticallyChallenged · 02/06/2017 22:21

I'm not a Corbyn fan but I thought the nuclear weapons bit was excessive and it just pissed me off instead of turning me off him.

He said no first strike, not no retaliation. I believe he's said he will write the appropriate letters to the Trident commanders.

I don't think it's that big an issue, really. No first strike is something I can very much get on board with.

GreenGinger2 · 02/06/2017 22:21

But they pay more tax.

Orlantina · 02/06/2017 22:22

At what point do you fire Trident?

Russia went into Crimea. Nothing. Russia went to the Ukraine. Nothing.
What if Russia went to the Balkans?

At what point do you fire a weapon that will destroy the world?

fruitbats · 02/06/2017 22:22

Moomin and nor did he say he would. He refused to answer the question

PigletWasPoohsFriend · 02/06/2017 22:24

Corbyn didn't do as well as he has done and did get a bit snappy at times when not on his comfort questions.

May came accross better than she has but still stumbled at times.

Both did ok.

RTKangaMummy · 02/06/2017 22:24

Are you guys watching LAST LEG?

They are talking about TM tell face which is really true

The funny face she pulls when stressed

GrinGrinGrinGrinGrinGrinGrinGrinGrin

*TM IS STILL - WEAK AND WOBBLY imho
*

Orlantina · 02/06/2017 22:25

and nor did he say he would

Theresa May said she would. I wonder though what would be going through someone's thoughts knowing that the world was about to end.

I wonder if she would like to live in a nuclear free world?

JugglingFromHereToThere · 02/06/2017 22:26

I think he made it fairly clear that you have to work on not getting to that point.
Taking action before that in many ways to make our world a safer place.
I think that's a realistic and wise way to be thinking.

abilockhart · 02/06/2017 22:26

And all the middle aged, right wing old fools on nuclear weapons were embarrassing and put to shame by the young woman and her comment.

"why's everyone so keen to kill millions of people"

Agree. It was the moment of the night.

SilverdaleGlen · 02/06/2017 22:33

I think the veneer his PR team have wrapped him in slipped a little.

The lady with that comment was trite, NO ONE wants to blow up millions of others. David Davies has it right, it's not that we would but it's the fear that we could that's a deterrent.

Look at it this way, will anyone attack the US right now? I wouldn't, because I don't think for a minute that Trump would hesitate (I hate him btw). But Corbyn? I reckon I'd try it on the threat of a chat...

He's right that talk and negotiation and diplomacy are paramount but they mean nothing without a little bit of strength. And it's ridiculous to assume everyone is sane enough to negotiate with. ISIS for example aren't the IRA...

Maxandrubyrubyandmax · 02/06/2017 22:34

I thought he was about to cry when Dimblby asked him whether he wanted to answer the last question on the fact he wouldn't press the button and alll he could do was shake his head. He was so riled he didn't really hear the question about immigration for spouses and referred to the woman's husband as "that person you were talking About". TM did really well I thought.
