not really AIBU but seriously the thing has just vanished. Any ideas anyone?

In the last 24 hours I've found things the toddler has put in the rubbish bin, the recycling bin and shoved down the back of the cushions on the sofa.

Can you remember when you last had it actually in your hand? Sit down for a minute, breathe out and let your mind's eye wonder back to when you last actually held them. It sometimes takes a couple of goes, but this works for me every time. DH used to scoff but does it now. All the best.

But from the pre-hook days, under the kitchen sink or in DH's van a long way away would be favourites.

I vaguely remember a thread where the OP had lost her car key and after pages of agonizing thread where every suggestion was tried and the OP eventually gave up in despair it turned up in her sock drawer. Try your sock drawer.

Agree with put down somewhere on the way to the loo.

Mine have also ended up in the dog lead drawer a couple of times, so check places where you might have put something away when you came in.

I smell a reverse. Stop expecting people to run about after you and make your own way back to the key rack.

Attached to each set of car/bike keys hanging on the back of the door or hanging on the hooks for spare/utility keys in the cleaning cupboard in the utility room. So if anyone wants to break into my house you should be sorted!!

What were you doing when you last had it, did you unlock the door, did you bring in shopping etc?
What were the kids doing?
Did you also use your car?

DH's are currently on the chopping board in the kitchen. He's gone out to a meeting and will be looking for them later. I haven't seen them teach him a lesson (never works)

The other day my keys were tucked inside my toddlers pants....I only found them because as she ran away from she jangled

So from experience- in the pocket of what you were wearing last time you had it, under sofa cushions or behind sofa, different section of handbag than usual or (if ds has anything to go with it) in the bin..........

I know you've checked the sofa cushions but I lost a car key and checked all mine, no luck.... 12 months later i found it under the back part of the sofa arm cushion nearest the wall.
DH once lost his, he had put them in the fridge

On a shelf in the loo. Maybe atop the cistern.
In a shoe near the door.
In the pocket of that jacket that you don't normally wear.
Or another pocket of something that's in the washing basket. Or back in the wardrobe.
Under the shopping bags on the kitchen counter.
