Q and A corbyn and may

OP posts:
ssd · 29/05/2017 22:10

little, you read moon wrong too!

Jux · 29/05/2017 22:11

I think Paxman has lost it. I hope I never see such a crass display of affected stupidity again. Paxman, you're better than that.

Corbyn came across well.

May had learnt her lines but not how to say them convincingly.

Littledrummergirl · 29/05/2017 22:11

Sorry Moon, it seems I also misread your post, I think the shock got to me.

Orlantina · 29/05/2017 22:12

Did you notice that May didn't say strong and stable at all?

Do you think someone's had a word Grin

Littledrummergirl · 29/05/2017 22:12
Grin
MoonShapedPool · 29/05/2017 22:12

Sorry guys my bad!! Me: disenchanted Labour voter, was going to vote Tory, Corbyn's performance tonight changed my mind, will put cross in Labour box, relieved Grin

ssd · 29/05/2017 22:13

no but she saying now no deal is better than a bad deal, that's her new line

Crumbs1 · 29/05/2017 22:13

I too find myself surprised by JCs stature, gravitas and credibility tonight. He engaged with the audience in a way TM didn't, he was warmer, more sure of his policies and just nicer generally.

LassWiTheDelicateAir · 29/05/2017 22:13

Scottish independence wasn't covered but Corbyn has been quoted today saying:-

While Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn insisted he would not do any deals with the SNP, he attracted criticism after he appeared to indicate he would “open discussions” with the Scottish Government about a possible second independence referendum if he became prime minister

So, nope he has lost my vote. If he were pm he would be as pathetically useless in a second Better Together campaign as he was in the Remain campaign.

MoonShapedPool · 29/05/2017 22:13

Catgirl we clearly share misgivings!

SmileEachDay · 29/05/2017 22:14

Maybe Noel Edmunds has moved into being a political advisor?

ssd · 29/05/2017 22:15

so you'll be voting tory then lass, as they clearly never change their minds about what they have said?.......

Orlantina · 29/05/2017 22:16

Did people notice how the audience reacted to her predictable answer on school funding?

She got jeered. Not good for her.

SmileEachDay · 29/05/2017 22:17

Yeah, being laughed at isn't great when you're PM...

yolofish · 29/05/2017 22:17

3 things:

  1. Paxo let TM hoist herself by her own petard - clever interviewing
  2. JC came across really well, much better than I expected
  3. TM really does have very good legs... but why was she wearing red?
Parker231 · 29/05/2017 22:19

TM was rubbish - she said her set pieces but as usual didn't answer the question and so much information not available. After all the trouble with the u turn on the social care tax, she hasn't any idea what the cap will be but still wants people to vote for her. She's lost a lot of votes tonight.

LassWiTheDelicateAir · 29/05/2017 22:19

so you'll be voting tory then lass, as they clearly never change their minds about what they have said?.......

I will be voting whichever of Tory or Lib Dem has the better chance of winning my constituency. It has never been a Labour seat.

Corbyn's ridiculous principles during the EU referendum when he refused to share a platform with Cameron would mean we would not get another cohesive , all party Better Together campaign.

noblegiraffe · 29/05/2017 22:19

Notice how she didn't mention grammar schools when talking about schools, just more diversity in the school system.

They didn't refer to grammar schools in the manifesto either - just 'end the ban on selective schools'.

No conviction there then.

LassWiTheDelicateAir · 29/05/2017 22:20

TM really does have very good legs... but why was she wearing red?

She does !.

noblegiraffe · 29/05/2017 22:23

I think she wore red because the background was blue and if she wore blue she'd have disappeared.

Ihaveafeeling · 29/05/2017 22:25

After watching and being unsure, I'm now very sure it won't be a vote for Corbyn - he's like watered down dish washing liquid. Not up the the job and seems very wet. Pity.

Jellykat · 29/05/2017 22:26

yolofish in answer to question 3, i have heard the theory that people tend to argue less with people wearing red.. maybe she's heard that too Grin

nina2b · 29/05/2017 22:27

Her legs are hideous and scary.

April229 · 29/05/2017 22:27

JC did really well I think.

May's idea that they would listen to charities etc. And decide dementia cap is hilarious.

She's not listening to the police, teachers or health workers about essential services none of us can do without, why would we believe she would listen and adjust the numbers for inheritance tax, dementia and EU negotiations on the basis of what professions say. It's a government of not listening.

Think she got off quite lightly I think with the questions.

LouHotel · 29/05/2017 22:29

I was going to vote Labour in spite of Corbyn. Im now perfectly assured he wont be a liability in no10
