How are you planning to vote if you earn over £80,000

Just wondering the above really.
I can't stand the conservatives and always assumed I would vote Labour in this election, however with the tax increase over £80k I feel I'd be shooting myself in the foot a bit.
What do others think?

Reds - if you have any involvement in teaching or giving guidance to the students at your school, I pity them. You are not short of an opinion, but you're incredibly short on facts.

There is one bank that we should all be directing our ire towards: RBS. However, if it wasn't for the arrogance of the former chief executive, who pursued an unnecessary and expensive acquisition at the height of the credit crunch, it'd probably be ok.

Lloyds needed bailing out because the Labour government forced it to takeover the doomed HBOS. That bailout money has all been repaid and then some - estimated profit to the UK taxpayers of almost £1bn.

The other financial institutions that were bailed out during the crisis were reckless mortgage providers like Northern Rock and Bradford & Bingley, which effectively no longer exist.

So.. where are all of these bailed out banks paying big bonuses with your taxes?!

This may be the most accurate of all.

What proud said to LuluJakey was thoroughly uncalled for and pissed me right off and I'm glad to see MNHQ took down the post but if anyone thinks I've overstepped please report those posts that have offended them Flowers

takesnoprisoners · 29/05/2017 13:44

Tories. Because Labour party in its current form is a group of wankers.

Marv1nGay3 · 29/05/2017 13:49

DH earns over 80k, I earn less. We are both voting labour. I believe in the NHS, funding for the arts and am shocked at the current government's cuts planned for education.

Funny how anti-semitism is a "tired old troupe" but 'misogyny' and 'disablism' are rolled out at every possible opportunity.

You think that calling someone a twat is uncalled for but comparing voting Tory to the Nazi's is okay (apparently MN do too)? There really is no fucking hope is there.

Happily, the Cons look set to win. I suspect the MN servers will collapse with the 'why do people hate the disabled / women blah blah' posts made.

Does anyone know where you can get mugs with 'Liberal Tears' written on?

PaulDacresFeministConscience · 29/05/2017 14:26

I've voted Labour, for the first time ever. I can't fucking stand Jeremy Corbyn - but I'm not voting for him, I'm voting for my local MP. The current incumbent is Labour and she's a local lass who has done a decent job. She also doesn't like JC and has been quite honest about that.

As much as I hate JC I cannot stand by and watch the Tories systematically single out the poor, the disabled and the most vulnerable in society and shit all over them so that they can deliver tax breaks to people who don't need them. I earn well over the national average wage - I'll never say no to having more cash in my take-home pay but I don't need a tax break because I can afford to pay more tax. My income isn't so precarious nor my job security so uncertain that I have to choose between heating and eating.

So I have voted with my conscience. My preference would have been Lib Dem but they don't stand a prayer in my area as it is a two horse race - so I put my vote where I thought it would make a difference.

Chloe84 · 29/05/2017 14:27

Proud I find this tedious now but lest you are really so hard of comprehension, I'll explain.

Lulu said she hoped people like you (based on Tory policy) would not rule the country.

I suggested that instead of calling her a useless twat, you should argue why people like you should rule the country.

I fail to see what you being born in the 50s, working in IT and half-Jewish has to do with the above. Except perhaps that you are old enough to know that you should refrain from playground insults and bullying but persist in calling another poster 'dumb twat'.

Good to see MNHQ have deleted your last offensive post to Lulu.

Green actually. Lucky enough to earn enough to be hit with new tax but from a very modest background and hate what the Tories are doing to the most vulnerable in our society. I wouldn't vote Tory in a million years.

PeterhouseMS · 29/05/2017 14:39

Labour.

Theresa May has economically incompetent. The swivel-eyed loons in the Tory party with their 'Hard Brexit' will cost us all a hell of a lot more than any of Jeremy Corbyn's tax rises.

ProudConservative · 29/05/2017 14:42

Ah. I see. Thanks for spelling it out for me. Hmm

I think people like me (educated, net contributors to society etc) are likely to run the country. The moaning and uneducated tend to stay like that. Of course that's unfortunate when you are sitting around waiting for government handouts and voting to ensure the state supports you.

Anyway, I'll look forwards to picking this up on the 9th.

ChinaRose · 29/05/2017 14:43

Voting cons (dh earns more than 80k, I earn less). The UK will not be an attractive place for investors if labour get in, there are lots of other places we can take our business. The wealthy may be greedy but they certainly are not stupid and will find ways to avoid paying yet even more tax to this wasteful country. We had some new windows installed last weekend and had a chat with the owner of the small company who makes them. He's already made tentative plans to shift his business to Gibraltar if Labour get in, he's not prepared to be shafted for years of hard work and wasteful governments.

Thanks, I'll tell my boss about my lack education of and contribution to society when we clinch the multi-million pound deal I'm leading on. 😂

sysysysref · 29/05/2017 14:48

Not Labour. DH will vote conservative, I will probably vote lib dem. He earns extremely highly and whilst in principle he is happy to pay more tax in practice he believes that it would not be used sensibly and will get lost in the system. My parents will move abroad if labour win and my dad is 100% serious about that

Justanothernameonthepage · 29/05/2017 14:54

I wouldn't vote based in keeping bankers in the UK and not for any banker bashing reasons. I know several people in different banking companies/areas and over 50% of them are leaving due to Brexit and relocations. The ones who would stay if their jobs allow them, are already on the higher tax rate, and most of them see no problem in paying slightly more. The ones who complain and moan are 80s dinosaurs who believe anyone earning less than 200k is simply lazy or stupid.

Are you actually advocating employment for employment's sake when a computer can do something better?

No, you're right, let's replace all jobs with computers.

I think you're just proving my point. You see profit as more important than human livelihoods. That's fine, it doesn't shock, but it does largely identify the "proud conservative" demongraphic.

RoccoW14 · 29/05/2017 16:47

Reds - as stated below, I'm fully aware of the situation at RBS. It was caused by the negligent actions, ten years ago, of a former chief executive. What do you propose doing with RBS? Put all current employees on a basic living wage to pay for the historic actions of the former chief executive? Completely wind down and close the bank? You do realise that any option that might make you happy would incur significant losses to UK taxpayers. The best option is for RBS to return to a profitable going concern, and if that means hiring employees on competitive compensation packages, then so be it.

Your earlier assertion however, was that all who are connected with the banking industry are somehow indebted to you. That's nonsense!

Amateur - do some reading about Automation and Artificial Intelligence. It's coming. Some jobs that people have today will not exist in a few years.

AmateurSwami · 29/05/2017 20:32

Yes, I understand that two, having read up on it extensively, though I thank you for insulting my intelligence. It's something I strongly oppose.
