Cancel my driving test?

tocancelornot · 25/05/2017 21:27

I passed my theory June 2015, since then I've taken well over 35 lessons and I have failed 3 driving tests.

I have a test booked for next Wednesday, and today is the final day I can cancel it. I don't feel ready for it, and I'm feeling so anxious that I'm going to fail again. I'd rather not waste the £100+ and redo the theory test which is only £23 and it will give me another 2 years to pass.

I just don't know what to do...cancel or not?

Itsjustaphase2016 i think its because i reversed back too much and touched the barriers, which is the same as if i was doing a reverse around the corner and hit the kerb

Im not sure about the pass rate, but i this is the closet one to me

VelvetSpoon well done on not giving up,i think if you have the motivation and postive mindset you can do it! i reckon nerves just get the better of people. Having said that, my brother took about 18 one hour lessons lessons and passed first time with 1 minor; so hes a natural at it.

I think when i do eventually pass, i will be in a state of shock and probably wont even belive them! but thats a long way to go as i need to redo the theory now Sad

Well I failed made a dumb mistake but I'm rebooking as soon as possible because I can drive dammit! I just do badly on tests

tocancelornot · 02/06/2017 23:12

abbsisspartacus oh no, sorry to hear that, it seems we're in the same boat! what happened during the test?

The run up to an island it's not marked clearly that it's two way traffic so I went to get into the right lane then realised it was oncoming traffic in that one no other island is like that around here I was kicking myself

bluegreenyellow · 04/06/2017 00:54

just wanted to say u made a silly mistake and failed ive passed my test now but took well over 200 hours of lessons and 3 failed exams before i did

tocancelornot · 05/06/2017 13:34

abbsisspartacuswas it your first test? i think thats a mistake due to nerves of the test but now you know for next time, its good youve booked another one as the waiting times are so long

I have just booked my theory test again for the 30th of June, i think tha gives me enough time to practice all the questions and do hazard practice. I feel like im taking 10 steps back Sad

Well done for keeping going - I wish I had, but am now in my mid 30s and no closer to passing! I absolutely hate driving and get very nervous during the tests. I'm about to start lessons again and am in the same sort of area as you - I'd love to know if you find a good instructor who you'd recommend. Thanks!

tocancelornot · 05/06/2017 14:20

ElleMcElle the main thing keeping me going is the amount of money ive spent on this! its so expensive and i dont want all the money to go to waste which is why i need to get back on it
How many lessons and tests have you had?
And im still no closer to finding a new instructor, i think what ill do is carry on with the one i have for max 5 lessons as i think thats all i need. But if i do hear any others, ill let you know

ElleMcElle · 06/06/2017 09:38

I've lost count - probably 50+ hours and 3 tests...

ElleMcElle · 06/06/2017 09:39

I HATE it - hate even travelling in cars, forget driving them! But I'm pregnant now and worry that not having a licence could be a real problem in the future, so I need to sort it out. Every time, it has been very few minors but a fail on one nerves-related major.

Mulledwine1 · 06/06/2017 09:44

I postponed my test - it was in the May. I had A levels and went away in the summer and so did my test in the August instead. I passed first time. I would postpone until you feel ready.

tocancelornot · 07/06/2017 13:13

ElleMcElle Thats why i want to pass now as its good to have the license even if you wont be getting a car and driving straight away. Where i live i dont need a car; public transport is really good with bus and trains and if needed, i can get a lift.

Im the same; consistent with the 4 or 5 minors but i get 1 major due to nerves and thats all it takes. When is your next test and when does your theory expire?

Forget kalms and rescue bollocks. Unless you have asthma you need beta blockers. Passed 5th time on those babies!
Nerves were horrendous before taking those

youvegottobekidding · 08/06/2017 13:48

I failed my 3rd today 😔 Funnily enough I don't feel as deflated as I did when I failed my 2nd! I got 4 faults, the one major one being because the examiner said I didn't check my mirror as I made a lane change. I kind of thought I'd passed at the end!

It's just annoying - but onwards & upwards, I know I can drive, it was a good drive & that one error let me down. If only I had a pot of cash just to spend on tests, it wouldn't be so shitty!! I have it my best & will try again, it's all I can do. I'll get there one day!

tocancelornot · 10/06/2017 15:43

youvegottobekidding oh sorry to hear that Sad at least your minors were not that high, i got 5 in my last test as well

I know what you mean with the money, it is so expensive to learn what with lessons, then the test fee and then paying your instructor on the test day. I booked my theory for the end of this month and havent started the revision but will do soon. as soon as thats done im going to take a few more lessons with my instructor then book the test. I just hope ill pass that one

What about an automatic? It's been a revelation for DS.

MissDuke · 10/06/2017 16:01

Have yu managed to find a new instructor op? You did really well, you just need to crack those manoeuvers. Sounds like you need a new patient instructor to get you through.

tocancelornot · 10/06/2017 16:04

picklemepopcorn i think my driving is fine, im used to manual its the manoeuvres i lack confidence on

OP posts:
tocancelornot · 10/06/2017 16:06

MissDuke thank you. not yet, i need to do my theory test again which i havent even started practising. i dont think ill be getting a new instructor, i will need max 5 lessons i reckon after theory test to just master the manoeuvres. I will tell him at the start of the lesson i need him to be patient or else i will find another one. Its a hassle finding a new instructor as id have to get used to them and their car.

Have you tried the AA app for theory test? I think it's about £2.99 or something, it's brill that's what I used. You've no worries though on that score, you've obviously passed that before so should pass again easily. I think I might download it again myself though to freshen up, who knows I may have to re-take my theory 😱

tocancelornot · 13/06/2017 12:54

youvegottobekidding thanks, i remember using a few apps first time round and also a website which was great as it had all the questions you could possibily be asked and mock tests. I relied soley on that website and got (if i remember correctly) 48/50 for the questions and about 60 for hazard. Haha looking back at the questions even I've felt like im looking at them for the first time!
