to think that nobody puts biscuits on a plate just for yourself?

Just seen 3 adverts where someone sits down to a cup of coffee and a biscuit, with a plate of about 8 biscuits. Does anyone do that in real life?!

Surely either you take a couple from the packet or you take the whole packet?! Who is going to frig around dirtying a plate and possibly taking more/less that you are going to want?

I should say that I am non biscuit eater, but I have never seen anyone put biscuits out like this!

Have a teacup with saucer- saucer is extra wide on one side to accommodate biscuit/crumpet/toast/croissant/cake.

Mmm.

Like this, except mine is turquoise.

I put them on a plate.. I don't eat other food out of the packet so don't know why I would for biscuits. There would be crumbs everywhere surely.

bigbluebus · 25/05/2017 16:35

My DS (20) always puts biscuits on a plate - although given how many he takes he may as well just take the packet. I don't know where he got the plate habit from as I am defintely an eat them out of the pack type person Grin

Katedotness1963 · 25/05/2017 16:43

My husband doesn't bring any biscuits if he makes the tea!

SleightOfHand · 25/05/2017 16:56

Have a look down the cracks in your sofa OP...... Yes, point proven, plate needed.

DonaldJBottyburp · 25/05/2017 17:00

Blush I might do this a bit.

Let me tell you I've had some amazing, amazing biscuits. Beautiful biscuits, even. I. Have. Had. Some. Beautiful. Biscuits. And you know the best kind of biscuits? Biscuits from a plate.

chachaboom · 25/05/2017 17:07

Does nobody have a biscuit tin?! Empty 2 different types in (dark chocolate digestive and bourbon being the best), carry in front of TV with cup of tea and select at will until tea is gone. OH uses the tin lid as a little tray on his lap. We're pros.

Fourquenelles - those are the most beautiful dogs I've ever seen.

AdaColeman · 25/05/2017 17:23

Yes, I put bisuits on a tea plate just for me, also little cakes, and crisps in a bowl, I'm not a Philistine!

(But I am Virgo) Grin Grin

BeyondThePage · 25/05/2017 17:35

My nan always eats everything from a plate, at the table. I don't.

She is skinny, I am not

fourquenelles · 26/05/2017 19:13

Thanks EllaHen they are rescued Spanish Galgos. Bred to hunt and discarded when too slow or old. Sad

EllaHen · 26/05/2017 19:57

I only have one goal in life for when I retire and that is to adopt a couple of greyhounds. I love them.

Aha! But I dont eat biscuits!

This is why I asked because the only people I know who do are DH, my sister and my mum and they are all very much straight-from-the-pack people, so I assumed everyone was like that!

Have a look where your husband sits then, I bet there's enough crumbs down there to make a cheese cake base. Not that I'm in anyway having a go at your cleaning routine. Grin

dairymilkmonster · 26/05/2017 21:04

my MIL probably would - PIL here for weekend and I am being driven mad already....

I don't no, but my husband does. But he doesn't use a plate, he finds the oldest Tupperware dish he can put his hands on, then he puts either nuts, crisps, or biscuits in, brings it through and eats it. Loads of lovely crockery in the house, gorgeous little bowls in daily use, but nope, he wants to eat his nuts or biscuits out an old Chinese take away carton. Hmm

ivykaty44 · 27/05/2017 13:11

Surely you just stack the plate in the dishwasher after you use it for biscuits?

How else do you stop crumbs from getting everywhere if you don't use crockery for biscuits?

HappyFlappy · 27/05/2017 14:54

Who the fuck drops crumbs?? shock no crumb gets left behind!

Kids do!

For some reason, a half pound packet of biscuits can produce three times its own weight in surplus crumbs . . . . Confused

BandeauSally · 27/05/2017 15:20

Grin happy wasteful brats! No more biscuits for them. They don't use them properly!

DustyMaiden · 27/05/2017 15:21

I make tea in the pot, have my little milk jug and a plate of biscuits or toast with butter in a little cloche and a mini pot of jam

LadyPW · 27/05/2017 19:49

I might put a couple on a plate if I was trying to be good, but usually I'd just take the packet and feel guilty later. Sod the crumbs, it's the calories I'm bothered about (has a lustful thought about the packet of Bourbon in the cupboard...)

opinionatedfreak · 27/05/2017 19:58

I'm a plate user. Rigidly enforced throughout childhood by my housework hating Mother.

But if I was on my own I would only put the number of biscuits I expected to eat out. Usually three unless it is 'wustard weams' or jaffa cakes which I have a particular weakness for and have to eat 4.

So having eight on the plate in the advert would strike me as OTT.
