I'm cogitating on Gianforte's statement after the alleged (I'm trying to be proper) assault.

If the allegation is correct and it happened as the Fox journalists described, then Gianforte put out that statement knowing there were three witnesses to his actions other than the victim.

Did he assume they would stay quiet? Was he expecting that level of complicity because they were from Fox? It really is extraordinary.

Macron wasn't the only one being unhelpful in his choice of language according to Caitlin Moran in the Celebrity Watch weekly article in the Times. From the article-

CW was amused to see that when the Pope — a man who speaks perfect English — met President Trump this week — a man he has condemned as “not Christian” for proposing the building of a wall between America and Mexico — he decided to speak to him in Spanish.

Although it is probably heretical for an atheist such as CW to speculate on the pope’s motives, it can see no other reason for him to do this other than “a childish spite in watching Trump nod like a dim dog while waiting for the interpreter to translate”.
