To not want to pay nursery fee

Got a call whilst en route to collect DD from nursery to say that 3 loose nappies meant she had to come home, and also she's not allowed back for 48 hours meaning she'll miss one of her nursery days (not there everyday). AIBU to feel that since they've stipulated the non attendance then I shouldn't have to pay for it?

Should I stop paying my rent because I'm on holiday for 2 weeks?

It's only analogous if your landlord said you have to move out for 2 weeks because he thinks there is a gas leak even if you don't think there is. Should you pay your rent then?

not pay my car insurance because I decided to get the bus for a week?

Again, if your car insurance company told you that you couldn't drive your car because they thought it was dangerous, even if you knew it wasn't, should you just do as they say amd keep paying them as well?

not pay my mobile phone bill because I left my phone at home?

I hope you can guess how this works now but: If your mobile company cut off your service are refused to let you make any calls, should you keep paying even though you needed to make calls?

of course not, so why is childcare any different
It isn't different, that is the point. If you withdraw a service for no good reason, you can't also expect to be paid for it.

And why do none of you know how an analogy works?

gas leak, dangerous car and cut off service are not the same as parenting your own possibly poorly child.

My analogies were if we all decided to take a leave of our personal responsibilities and those which we had pre-agreed by signing a contract.

I work in childcare and my boss can't tell me oh, little Percy is poorly today so you don't need to come in.. oh and btw, we wont be paying you either as Percy's mummy doesn't think he's poorly.

Gosh if I has a quid for the amount of parents that outright lie about their child's health, or dose them up with calpol at 8.55 and wonder why by 11.30 they are burning up, screaming, grouchy, sleepy, and down right UNWELL I could have retired by now!

If my kids are sick, guess what I do? I parent them. That means taking unpaid leave and staying at home until they are better. I've been doing that for nearly 13 years and it hasn't not worked yet.

Most parents also do the same thing, stay home and be with their kids when their kids are actually sick.

It's not quite the same thing when they are not sick and you are paying for the service

It's rubbish but that's the way it works.
