Like most people, we love a lazy pyjama day every so often but aibu to think this was actually quite an active day? Friend who I was chatting with said she missed having lazy days like this Confused

BTW DH was working half the day before you flame him for not dong childcare

Drop DD3 off at swimming class, meanwhile take DDs 4 & 5 swimming in other pool

Take DD2 to a b-day party, hang around for an hour, then pick her up 2 hours later

Take DDs 3, 4 & 5 to the funfair at the local park for a bit, then meet friend for a coffee (with her kid)

Spend some time with DS who is revising for GCSEs he's finally realised having a secondary school teacher for a mum has benefits as well as being embarrassing

Take DD1 to the supermarket and do a shop. She love cooking so bought stuff for the big meal she was planning whilst I did a general shop

I thought I'd done quite a bit but my friend went on and on about me having a lazy day, which only made me wonder how busy she must be!

What counts as a lazy day for you?

Oh yeah, I missed that.
So in between all these "lovely" boring activities, there will also be the usual washing/cleaning/cooking etc??

Yeah, fucking lovely relaxing day Hmm

Plus you know...getting several kids ready for swimming/parties/events/bathed/bed is just a floaty lovely mist of happiness, right?! Grin

FeedTheSharkAndItWillBite · 22/05/2017 18:36

Right. I said, "maybe not lazy but rather relaxed."

Sure, some active parts but with at least 2 hours (actually, probably more like 3 imo, counting the food shopping with a presumably somewhat mature and independent teen/child, seeing as DD1 cooks... But I understand that I may be a bit weird in that regard, I just find food shopping relaxing) of nice, relaxing and leisurely activities.

FeedTheSharkAndItWillBite · 22/05/2017 18:38

I guess it depends.

I fthe OP also cleaned the house and did the laundry and other imo definitely not relaxing/lovely things? Sure.

But what the OP describes sounds like a very nice day.

AceholeRimmer · 22/05/2017 18:43

That's the polar opposite to a lazy day for me! Lazy to me involves not leaving the house or getting dressed. Although saying that I haven't done either of those today (SAHM to little ones) but I haven't stopped today! So actually lazy to me actually means comatose or dead GrinBut shows we all interpret differently.. her life must be really busy.

anon1987 · 22/05/2017 18:59

I expect she was being passive aggressive and trying to make you think you have an easy life.
Did she go to work?

ifcatscouldtalk · 22/05/2017 19:03

She really hasn't seen lazy done properly if that's her idea of lazy.
My sofa has the imprint of my backside after a lazy Sunday!

Titsywoo · 22/05/2017 19:22

Sounds like a lot of people associate a busy day with being really stressful and not stopping from the time you get out of bed until you get back in it! Grin

You can have a day that is busy and not stressful.

This competitive busyness gets on my nerves.

SwimmingInLemonade · 22/05/2017 20:09

All the people saying that's a "lazy" day are nuts. Confused

Is this friend always starting busyness competitions? If she kept going on about it, it sounds like she has some issues she needs to work out...

yaela123 · 22/05/2017 20:13

Salmotrutta Yes, I did also do 2 loads of washing and hanging to dry, hoovering, general tidy-ups and clean supervise the cleaning of DDs 3, 4 & 5's bedroom. I just didn't mention them cos that's stuff I do pretty much every day

OP posts:
yaela123 · 22/05/2017 20:13

And kept everyone fed and watered!

OP posts:
yaela123 · 22/05/2017 20:15

Btw I'm not saying it wasn't a nice day. It was mostly lovely.

But nice does not equal lazy Confused

Running round after your DC all day, activity after activity is lazy? Seriously? Hmm

There's some competitive parenting shit on mn sometimes.

Herewegogo · 22/05/2017 20:23

Wtf, this thread is bonkers. A lazy day to most sane people is doing absolutely nothing all day other than existing. Any activity of any sort, be it taking kids swimming, to the park or to a party, automatically cancels out the 'lazy' part of the day.

DeadGood · 22/05/2017 21:18

"But what the OP describes sounds like a very nice day."

FeedtheShark nobody is saying it wasn't nice. That doesn't mean it was lazy!

What aren't you getting about that?

Salmotrutta · 22/05/2017 22:24

Well, there you go then yaela!

You did lots of domestic chores and herded kids around here there and everywhere!

Absolutely not lazy.

Some posters on here are deliberately not thinking that you just listed "out of the house" stuff!

arethereanyleftatall · 22/05/2017 22:31

Lazy day for me means none of us getting out of our pyjamas all day. Doing whatever we fancy but in our house only, no visitors.
I bloody love it, and it happens about one day every 3 months or so.
