....to hope even more that a Tory landslide is not inevitable?

Tory manifesto launch day, Jeremy Hunt on the Today programme re Andrew Dilnot care cap:

"We couldn’t be clearer because … not only are we dropping it, but we’re dropping it ahead of a general election and we’re being completely explicit in our manifesto that we’re dropping it, and we’re dropping it because we’ve looked again at this proposal and we don’t think it is fair.”

What else is going?

Abitofaproblem which union? Corbyn was elected by individuals. If union members wanted to participate in the leadership election, they had to be registered labour voters. Unions were still block voting when Miliband got in...that's how he beat his brother!

If I've got this wrong, apologies, and maybe a registered labour voter could clarify! (I'm not a party member).

I think it will be a Tory landslide. I'd rather it wasn't, but I can't see it changing.

mumeeee · 22/05/2017 18:44

We don't want a Tory landslide

citroenpresse You are right.

McCluskey however does have JC ear and was at the final manifesto discussions I believe

Lucylongcat · 22/05/2017 18:56

People worry about the Labour shadow cabinet being weak, but if (a big if) Labour won, then all the big hitters who chose not to take part in his shadow cabinet would soon come flooding back.

Not with him as leader they won't. Some PPC are actively campaigning by stating they don't support him.

Who 'is actively campaigning by stating they don't support him piglet ? Ed balls, through gritted teeth had to say that the labour campaign was going really well but aren'the the public rather accustomed to that kind of leadership hoo hah and pay no attention? Rather the ear of a known union man than a press baron or a sinister diner that you only find out about because Cameron puts them on his gong list.

How do you know who was in the manifesto discussions piglet ? where do you get this stuff from!

John Woodcock for starters. There are a few that have repeatedly said their views on him are on the record.

Leaflets have no mention of him.

Phil Wilson has this on his.

I am no supporter of Theresa May and I am no supporter of Jeremy Corbyn – the only people I support are you, the people of Sedgefield constituency.

Unfortunately it's down to being bed ridden with very bad health and so watching the news.

He was shown going into the meeting. Do you remember the pictures of him falling down the stairs? It was coming out of the manifesto meeting.

MrsKenningtonBag · 22/05/2017 19:30

The EU want a deal. I find all the posturing by May & David Davies really embarrassing.

He was all over the telly on Sunday saying they won't be sticking to the proposed timetable which seemed reasonable to me.

I think this is a load of Johnny Hard Bollocks posturing to get the UKIP vote and they are going to backslide afterwards - at least I hope they do.

Saying we want a good deal does not mean the EU are going to offer a bad one, does it?

citroenpresse · 22/05/2017 20:15

Fair enough Piglet I had to look both of those MPs up. Given that Woodcock seems to have been that vocal he'd look pretty stupid coming out as a supporter now! I'm a bit bemused as to why it is quite so scary a union leader checking manifesto policy for unions when the unions are a very traditional supporter of Labour. The danger of NOT clearing your manifesto promises was made pretty obvious today.
