Was on the phone to my teen tonight and sat in the garden, Spotted a hedgehog running down the path and shouted to dp. He came out, dressing gown on but not done up and asked where the hedgehog was.

I pointed to the shrubbery and said 'it's in there and can you please put your willy away?'.

Only to hear a voice from the other side of the hedge saying 'the hedgehog has just come through into our garden'.

Both the neighbours were outside - it was dark, I couldn't see through. Utterly mortified!

I see them every morning when I am waving DD off to school. I shall have to hide now won't it?

BreakfastAtSquiffanys · 21/05/2017 22:29

As long as the willy remained in your garden, you're OK...

Crunchymum · 21/05/2017 22:31

Maybe they didn't want the willy to follow the hedgehog? Grin

Plunkette · 21/05/2017 22:31

Whether you need to be embarrassed depends entirely on what your neighbours were wearing or doing in their garden in the dark...

DFSspringsale · 21/05/2017 22:32

Grin but it's your DP who should be mortified, not you.

PinkFluffiUnicorn · 21/05/2017 22:33

Hahahaha
Hopefully they will think you named the hedgehog 'willy'

TellMeItsNotTrue · 21/05/2017 22:33

Welly in the garden and shout tomorrow "DP! I told you last night to put this away, just tripped on it again!"

sunshinesupermum · 21/05/2017 22:33

Lol!

NC1nightstand · 21/05/2017 22:34

Oh that's priceless OP! Thank you for that!Grin Are they not the type to find it funny too? Quite jealous you saw a hedgehog, I haven't seen one fi r about 3 years. As for the neighbours it will either break the ice a bit and you may become closer or they will jy St pretend they didn't hear you/see dh.

DFSspringsale · 21/05/2017 22:34

Oh by the way I love your NN.

AceholeRimmer · 21/05/2017 22:34

Love this. This is the stuff that makes life good Grin

MycatsaPirate · 21/05/2017 22:34

I have no idea what they were doing in the dark but as they have two young children I suspect they were trying to just have a 'quite moment' :o

Dp actually had pants on, it turns out. But obviously it would be really awkward to now go out in the garden and say very loudly 'oh you have pants on!'.

Because they would think I was backtracking.

jy st = just

Highalert · 21/05/2017 22:35

Yes You really need to leave some wellies in the garden where they can see them Grin

MycatsaPirate · 21/05/2017 22:36

quiet moment See, even my fingers are tripping over themselves!

We get on well with them. I shall just feel slightly mortified at facing them after saying 'willy' behind the hedge.

Still not photos of our hedgehogs, those little sods can run really fast!

Could be worse, could be wanger/dinkle/spam javelin/purple headed monster/one eyed snake or similar.

LadySalmakia · 21/05/2017 22:47

Eh, I love a bit of the nature, if I was your neighbour I'd have been so stoked by the hedgehog all I'd've cared about is: Priority One, you knew where the hedgehog was because SQUEEEE and Priority Two, you knew where we were in case of, you know, stray "hedgehogs" in the wild.

LadySalmakia · 21/05/2017 22:48

Well. Either that or they were swingers having a bit of the old al fresco and wanted you to know they were there just on the off chance you were keen too. But that seems unlikely :)

MycatsaPirate · 21/05/2017 22:51

Bless them, I don't think they have the energy for swinging - toddler and 5 year old plus two full times jobs!

They are lovely neighbours, we have no issues with them at all. However they now might be wary of using their garden post 9pm in case they think dp will be chasing me round the garden waving his willy at me.

You should write to Mrs Mills at the Sunday Times. I'm sure she'd give you some good advice as to your next move... Wink
