Trump asked two top intelligence officials to publicly deny that there was any collusion with Russia, officials say

"Trump made separate appeals to the director of national intelligence, Daniel Coats, and to Adm. Michael S. Rogers, the director of the National Security Agency, urging them to publicly deny the existence of any evidence of collusion during the 2016 election.

Coats and Rogers refused to comply with the requests, which they both deemed to be inappropriate, according to two current and two former officials, who spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss private communications with the president."

Firstly, I want to express my support and prayers for the victims and their families. NO ONE should send their child off to a concert and have this happen. It's monstrous and inhuman. It is the act of a madman.

Secondly, I'd like to apologize on behalf of the American People for the stupid statement by Scrotus. "Losers"? Dear God. "They think 'monster' is a 'great' name"? God in Heaven. It shows that, to him, 'losing' is the worst possible thing in life. No you arsehole, having your dearest ones killed by madmen. That's the worst. It's embarrassing to have this 'loser' and 'monster' as the voice of our Nation. The person/people behind this ARE monsters, not 'losers'.

When something like this happens, websites like MN become even more important because it's a place where those of us in 'far flung' places can say "I'm sorry this happened. I'm angry for you. I hurt for you".

Hands across the water.

Thank you Across for your eloquent post. I cannot begin to imagine what a lot of people are going through today.

I'm a 'loser' at Scrabble so my kids tell me. It's the wrong term for POTUS to use because at this moment in time those who committed this atrocity will be celebrating their 'win'. They are monsters and they are cowards.

I couldn't quite believe Scrotus statement either. Embarrassing to watch. He can barely string a coherent sentence together. DH (a Dr) and colleagues have been watching YouTube clips of him talking 10, 15 years ago- he was always an arse but he sounded intelligent and normal. There opinion (based on deteriorating language ability) is Dementia (not necessarily Alzheimer's), and not the earliest stages either.

He is almost certainly not fit to hold office Sad

Ethics office rejects White House attempt to halt inquiry into lobbyists

t.co/RXWwAHtxTs

Ah!

It's another do as I say, but not as I do from Republicans:

"In 2009, the Republican senator Chuck Grassley asked the government ethics office to use its authority to force Barack Obama to reveal how many waivers he had granted to ex-lobbyists in his new administration."

"Eight years and a political flip later, Republicans in Donald Trump’s administration say OGE lacks that authority, and they have asserted that there is no need for them to publicly disclose any ethics waivers."

"Grassley’s office did not return repeated requests for comment."
