Taking the 5th is done to avoid making statements that 'may' incriminate yourself. It pretty much says 'yeah, I did something illegal but I'm not going to tell you about it'. It doesn't just mean that you've done what they're asking about, it could mean that you've done something else illegal that answering the question could lead to, i.e. 'I'm not going to answer your question about XX breaking into the jewelry store because it may lead to the fact that I received the stolen goods'.

Here's what they generally say: “On the advice of counsel I invoke my Fifth Amendment privilege against self-incrimination, and respectfully decline to answer your question.”. To each and every question, separately.

And what do 'people' tend to think when they hear that response?

Weeelllll, if you're talking about me and you can 'presume' the worst . As most people do when someone takes the 5th on anything. AFAI am concerned, it's an admission of guilt of some wrong-doing, you just don't know exactly what.

TBH, if it will help tumble the Trump regime into oblivion, I vote to give Flynn total immunity and a free trip to Disney World!!!

I've always felt that he should get immunity. Like taking the 5th, I can't see that it helps him do more than avoid jail.

I agree. I just hope he has valuable enough info to seriously implicate Trump et al and not just taking the 5th because he did something illegal on his ownthat would implicate only himself, iyswim.

I do - but who can tell? In fact, there's even an argument that taking the 5th to some (suitable) questions might be more effective in the court of public opinion.

That piece that you posted, Lion about the opioid disaster that is gripping America is very sad. I watched a video on the BBC a couple of weeks ago about the city with the highest number of overdoses in the country and it was focused on a supermarket where people just kept OD'ing in the toilets . The firefighters interviewed said they attended more OD's than fires (about a third of their callouts iirc) which is utterly tragic.

This is what Scrotus should be tackling - no idea how given the issue is escalating but things like Sessions regressive policy stances on the War on Drugs will only serve to make this worse.

The video of D and M? To paraphrase; 'One video is worth a 1000 words'. All I can figure is that he gets iron-clad prenups (and tbh I don't really blame anyone who has a lot to lose for wanting one) AND that he has some type of 'non-disclosure' clause in his divorces that are tied to the ex losing a great deal of money. Neither of his exes have said one single thing (good or bad) about him throughout this whole debacle.
