Pres is very worried about Jared news - thinks he may "give away secrets." Take from that what you will.

originalbiglymavis · 20/05/2017 17:44

I'm just hoping for a bird of prey to land on his head and attack the hamster.

He is as odious, sexist and corrupt (not forgetting bling-de-luxe) as the people he is meeting with. I'm sure they will get on like a house on fire.

AcrossthePond55 · 20/05/2017 17:45

Addendum: I believe that the Pres (or whoever) has the option to purchase a gift from the Govt at market malue if they want to keep it. So if Scrotus wants to keep the medal, he'll have to buy it.

I vote we're not selling it!

originalbiglymavis · 20/05/2017 17:46

I think it suits him. A little small and discreet for his tastes, but tasty nonetheless.

cozietoesie · 20/05/2017 17:47

This trip is all about business. What else did anyone expect? Smile

Here's what I said on @maddow yest. Happy Saturday! www.msnbc.com/rachel-maddow/watch/can-the-trump-russia-special-counsel-be-undermined-by-trump-948759107764 … via @msnbc

originalbiglymavis · 20/05/2017 17:51

Of course. Do we expect him to visit the theological source of (some of) the worst terrorist groups going (not to mention the majority of the 9/11 murderers) and just talk money (mostly for him I suspect)? You betcha boots.

TammySwanson · 20/05/2017 17:51

It's a country that has a huge divide between rich and poor, treats minorities and women like second (or third, fourth) class citizens, uses slave labour and is riddled with corruption, so no wonder the orange buffoon loves it.

lionheart · 20/05/2017 17:52

I think it was Huckleberry who said basically said that what candidate Trump said counts for nought. The interviewer asked her if candidate Trump was a 'fiction.' Grin

This is perhaps another reason why the marches against Trump and in solidarity with the US resistance matters so much.

Must feel right at home then.

Military hardware + oil = 'tonic' for Trump who says 'Jobs! Jobs! Jobs!'.

They must have been desperate to tie this up.

OP posts:
cozietoesie · 20/05/2017 18:10

Yes. Apologies. I should really have added 'boasting' to the 'business'.

AcrossthePond55 · 20/05/2017 18:15

It's just all so over the top for me. Then a 350bn arms deal on top of that?

It's like inauguration day all over again. My mind simply refuses to believe it's real. Somehow, there's a 'disconnect' between what I'm seeing/hearing and the part of my brain that digests information.

I've actually had to turn off the TV. Yes we get TV out here 'in the woods'. Thank God for generators and satellite dishes. Or in the case of Scrotus news, maybe I'm not so thankful.

Dumdedumdedum · 20/05/2017 18:27

Across - know exactly what you mean. I think it's because we don't want to have to believe this crap is now our reality (don't get me started on May's social care shit). Watching The West Wing doesn't help, either!

cozietoesie · 20/05/2017 18:35

I'm not sure it's as much as that, Across. I make it about $165 billion, including - you'll be amazed to know Wink - a good slice of business for various American companies. (Other than straight arms that is.)

Here are some further details.

Saudi deals

cozietoesie · 20/05/2017 18:41

PS - but it will possibly have gone up to a trillion dollars by the time he returns. Maybe more - who can tell? Grin

originalbiglymavis · 20/05/2017 18:52

The most bigliest deal ever ever EVER made in the history of the world. And it was never what done it. Me me ME!

I suspect he has parent issues...

lionheart · 20/05/2017 19:06

Then again, Huffington reports on the question of the legality of this deal.

OP posts:
cozietoesie · 20/05/2017 19:06

Just wait until he tries to work 'the Saudi deal' into the budget process.............

Trump just signed a $110 billion arms deal w/ the Saudis. A legal analysis just deemed it illegal.

Sorry I can't link to HP through this post--every time I try to include the link it says it is not secure.

I would hate to bug anyone. Wink

OP posts:
cozietoesie · 20/05/2017 19:10

Ah. I didn't realise there were significant issues, lion. (I've just read the piece.)

cozietoesie · 20/05/2017 19:11

Here you go.

Saudi Arms Deals

cozietoesie · 20/05/2017 19:12

Or not - as the case may be! Wink

AcrossthePond55 · 20/05/2017 19:21

Thanks for the link cozie. I've added it to my reading list on my laptop. We're just about ready to power down the generator and go outside and sit in the sun. I think it's Gin o'clock.

Well, I guess these days it's ALWAYS Gin o'clock!!
