Big lips

There seems to be so many (beautiful) ladies walking about with pumped up lips. Obviously pumped and filled and they just don't look natural; like their top lip doesn't fit/work in the way a top lip should.

I am not body/face confident AT ALL but I don't understand this. I wish everyone could see their own beauty. I wish I could invent a mirror where it's impossible for us and our children to 'see' our 'flaws' (that we beat ourselves up about but no-one else sees).

Has anyone had these fillers? Are you please with the result? Is it permanent?

I wish thick glasses and big lips was 'in' when I was a kid, I only had to wait 30 odd years for my looks to fashionable 😂

CricketRuntAndRashers · 17/05/2017 10:22

I know that this isn't the OP's intention, bu I personally used to hate (and I mean honestly hate, I used to suck them in all the time) my lips...

Whilst I don't want people to think that I had my lips done I'm actually quite happy big lips are a trend now... Makes me feel less self-conscious.

I've started to wear lipstick actually. Which may sound weird, but for such a long time I didn't dare to do so. It'a actually quite liberating.

Maudlinmaud · 17/05/2017 10:23

I grew up in the time of Pamela Anderson and the wonder bra adverts, I look back at pictures and see my bosoms lifted up to my chin Blush Same thing happening today, young teens and women want to look like Kylie Jenner. It's the way the world works.

thatwouldbeanecumenicalmatter · 17/05/2017 10:24

I think so as well Sleepfreezone the thing is if you went to a hairdresser and asked for your hair to be excessively treated with chemicals to the point where your hair is going to snap off they will refuse to do it - the equivalent doesn't seem to be happening within the cosmetic implant industry.

CricketRuntAndRashers · 17/05/2017 10:28

Btw, Tali, I think that's really brave of you, posting your lips. I just took about 20 "selfies" and still don't dare to do so... Blush

Another with naturally big lips here, Hate it when people assume ve had them done, 1 lady in work even cornering me to ask me where the clinic I went to was and wouldnt believe me when I said they were natural.

To get rid of her I ended up showing her a family picture as my brother and I both have big lips inherited from my grandad, she didnt speak to me for a few days after that! What I make up for in lips I lack in eyebrows as I have barely any there. Swings and roundabouts, I do wonder what they look like though when the fillers fade or whatever its called, do the lips go saggy? Is it a case of continuing to have them done?

TinfoilHattie · 17/05/2017 10:32

I really hate the trend for everyone looking fake. It's not about just make up where you're accentuating what you have, it's about botox, fillers, lip injections to make you look like a clone.

Also very worrying that as these treatments grow in popularity there are some very unqualified people offering to do them. At least if you get a duff hairdo it will grow out, and if you don't like your make up you can wipe it off. Not the same with fillers, botox and lips.

Really sad.

Farontothemaddingcrowd · 17/05/2017 10:33

Mine when I had the top lip filled. V subtle and you'd never notice them in the street. Badly done fillers are awful but they can be done well.

I think that someone's lips should not bother anyone else but the person, if they look botched that's completely their problem and I don't care about strangers enough to give a shit. Having said that if they came to my place of work and asked for advice I would advise them accordingly , fillers can last up to six months , you can (although uncomfortably ) have fillers dissolved . Botox and fillers are not the same thing. Fillers can me amazing , look amazing , if done correctly . I have been lucky enough to be born with my Brazilian natural full lips , have never had fillers , only Botox , but I don't condemn anyone who wants to try just enhance their appearance in any way, Just you find a professional to look after you.

herethereandeverywhere · 17/05/2017 10:34

The trend for everyone under 30 (and some try-hards over 40) to look like a blow-up doll is just baffling. Over inflation of lips, in particular the top so that they start to turn inside out (the inner curving outside) is just horrid. Combine that with too much botox and heavy contoured makeup & fake lashes and it literally looks like they came off a shelf and out of a box in Soho...

I have had lip filler myself, so subtle no-one noticed it. I'm ageing (40) and my lips were looking deflated and crinkly. I had the smallest amount which filled out the crinkles and slightly lifted the downturned corners (goodbye resting bitch face!). I was asked about whether I wanted that curled inside out top lip (a bit Michelle Pfeiffer) and refused it as it would look so obviously false on me.

I also have botox but my Dr does me 'with movement' so I have no 11s or forehead lines but I can still lift and drop my eyebrows in a slightly limited way. I also have my crows feet area done and have absolutely none at all but can still lift my cheeks for eye expression when I smile.

It is possible to have subtle enhancement but some celebs seem to deliberately go for over-done and false. Confused

I have very thin lips and always feel a bit envious of women with nice big natural lips. But, the trout pouts I've seen lately just make me Shock
I'm on a Facebook beauty group that I daren't mention and the photos of young women with ridiculously big fake lips is shocking.
Yes I've got my judgey pants on, it's hard not to.

AnneLovesGilbert · 17/05/2017 10:37

elQuintoConyo I think I love you Grin

I'm another one with naturally big lips and it took me years to feel confident enough to wear lipstick as people have often assumed they were fake and when I worked in bars the number of shitty comments I got about having "blow job lips" gave me the fucking rage.

MuvaWifey77 · 17/05/2017 10:42

Thanks Cricket I dont have a lot of confidence but I'm proud of my lips. People want to think they've been filled then they can, I know different.

MuvaWifey77 · 17/05/2017 10:44

Lips do go back to normal after a period of time, depending which filler you use, juverdem etc.... some last longer . But they should not look floppy , or saga, they Just reduce in size.

Maudlinmaud · 17/05/2017 10:44

On the subject of botox, I would like some, especially as it's used to treat migraines. NI doesn't offer this on the nhs so I would be going private. Cosmetic procedures are cheap here not sure how they measure up to the rest of the uk price wise. My dentist advertises botox and many many local salons too.

MuvaWifey77 · 17/05/2017 10:45

Saggy*

TaliZorahVasNormandy · 17/05/2017 10:45

I've had the "Blow job lips" quip. Shame they'll never find out.

CricketRuntAndRashers · 17/05/2017 10:46

My lips. 100% natural (if I were to have a procedure I'd probably want to plumpen my upper lip...)

I'm wearing lipstick and it's very freeing. My mother used to get angry about my lips when I was little, telling me to stop pouting etc (when my lips were simply relaxed).

So I sucked my lips in (ever since I was maybe 6-7?), didn't dare to wear lipstick etc...

Idk. I mean, I may not understand why anybody would want to have big lips.

But Idk... I think if it helps them feel better?

I mean, I personally have been tempted to either plump my upper lip (so I would stop looking sad/pouty) or have a procedure to make my lower lip smaller.
Maybe they feel a similar way?

TaliZorahVasNormandy · 17/05/2017 10:52

I work with some women who have lip fillers, just to give the mouth more definition.

MadameSzyszkoBohush · 17/05/2017 10:54

Your lips are beautiful chicken.

TaliZorahVasNormandy · 17/05/2017 10:56

I'd like to have my mouth corners pulled up a bit to give me a more happier resting face.

greedygorb · 17/05/2017 10:56

I've noticed the lip thing a lot round here recently. Its definately younger women- under 30 probably. At first it was just tan, weird drawn in eyebrows, too many eyelashes and bad shading. Then they all got sort of weird looking and my friend pointed out it was fillers and botox. Now the lips. They all look like pantomime dames. It's a shame. It's hard to tell what they actually look like. They're everywhere. Make up can be changed but you do wonder what damage they are doing to themselves with the cosmetic procedures.

WorriedLAC · 17/05/2017 11:02

Katie Price was on Loose Women with her Mum and her Mum said she hated what Katie had done to her face, especially her lips, which were particularly disfigured on the show, her Mum said she couldn't understand why she did it. Katie was just totally dismissing her Mum's comments.

I am also sure someone must have told Nicole Kidman and Meg Ryan at some point that they had gone too far, two very beautiful women who unfortunately look much older than their years, an awful irony considering they were quest to look younger.
