Honestly, you don't need two seats, just a bit of planning 😊

Haudyerwheesht · 14/05/2017 23:35

Good luck OP.

Iamastonished · 14/05/2017 23:48

“raise the arm rest”

They have to be down for take-off and landing.

GabsAlot · 14/05/2017 23:53

can u ask to be sat with your dc so on side is at least someone u know

as somone already said u have to have the arm rest down on take off/landing so thats not really an option

maybe ak for the extended belt

Good luck op. Also-you are not nasty!!! You are strong.Flowers

blackteasplease · 15/05/2017 08:52

Lots of good advice here.

I don't have good dieting advice but PPs have made great suggestions.

I second phoning the airline and seeing what can be done, even if it is buying a second seat.

Who is in your party? Are there children included? I would make sure you sit with other members of your own party on either side so you don't have to worry about any "space wars" with strangers.

weddingopinionsplease · 15/05/2017 08:57

Good luck OP you have time to lose a bit of weight which will help ease your anxiety about the seat. So many great suggestions here already

PeachyPip · 15/05/2017 09:03

Why don't you look up the airlines seat sizes and do a mock up at home. It depends how your fat is distributed as to how comfortable you will be.

welshweasel · 15/05/2017 09:04

Good luck, you can do this!

I'd book a second seat now though, just in case the flight gets full. It will stop you stressing about it. I saw someone being refused to fly because they couldn't fit in the seat without putting the armrests up and it was a fully booked flight. Airlines will be used to it so don't worry.

Gwencooper81 · 15/05/2017 09:18

You are not nasty OP! Fat, well yeah but I am too.. and I'm lovely Grin. I imagine you are too.
I'm a size 24 and it's a squeeze but I've managed flying. You won't be the only bigger person. Just remember to ask for your seatbelt extension and sit next to one of the kids if possible.
As for the dieting.. well I'm starting today as well. I'll keep popping back to see how you're doing and I wish you all the best. 3 months is a nice long stretch to lose some inches.
Good luck!

HildaOg · 15/05/2017 10:16

You'll fit in the seat and in three months you could lose a few sizes if you want to. Focus on your holiday and the great time you're going to have.

Be kind to yourself and with how you refer to yourself in words, there are lots of nasty people in the world, I bet you're not one of them. That's a character flaw, not a body flaw.

None of us are perfect. Do what you need to do to make your trip easier and make yourself happier.

pinkdinosaur · 15/05/2017 15:05

blackteasplease · 15/05/2017 15:24

OP, you are not nasty or disgusting. Horrible things have happened to you, and you are not to blame.

Being fat isn't nasty or disgusting anyway, although bad for your own health.

The good news is that it's perfectly possible for you to lose weight and you have a lot to motivate you - husband and lovely kids to do active stuff with. Good luck!

Kokusai · 15/05/2017 15:24

You are not nasty! Be kind to yourself.

You'll be fine if you are next to family - book seats in advance so you know for sure you'll be next ot them. Sit in the aisle seat.

Or you could always book two seats if you are that worried?

Majorgoodwinschickenbeatstrump · 15/05/2017 19:15

OP you sound really lovely, I like how you have got so many nice replies too. Enjoy your holiday, I too would ring the airline if you are worried. They won't think anything of it.

AllRoadsLeadBackToRadley · 15/05/2017 19:47

OP you can do this.

Day one here too- so you're not alone.

I was abused too.

PM if you need a chat. 💟

AllRoadsLeadBackToRadley · 15/05/2017 19:48

And...you can lose the weight - but they'll never be able to lose the abusive-cuntness. So you're in a bettter position than them already.

GaelicSiog · 15/05/2017 19:54

You don't need to fit in the seat if you're travelling with family, you can take up part of their seats too. You're only in trouble if you sit next to a stranger and they complain. Otherwise it might not be comfortable, but you will be fine.

Small steps. No, you won't lose a huge amount of weight by then, but if you start tomorrow, that's a big step forward. Accept you won't be a size whatever by then, see how much you can lose instead. It will be fine, and please don't let it ruin the holiday Flowers

SorrelSoup · 15/05/2017 19:58

Good luck! I'm rooting for you!!

Doodlebug5 · 15/05/2017 20:01

I went on a easyJet's flight at 23 stone 11lb. It was fine I needed a seat belt extender but no issues :) don't fret

RJnomore1 · 15/05/2017 20:02

Oh love you're not nasty. You're an incredibly strong woman whose body and brain have both done amazing things to get you to where you are, with a family and happy cared for little ones.

Maybe it's time to start loving yourself a little more. I find when I'm down on myself I eat more and it's a cycle. When I remind myself what's good about me it's easier to remember why it matters to look after myself.

I hope you have a wonderful holiday.

glenthebattleostrich · 15/05/2017 20:05

Hi OP,

Have you looked at any of Michael Mosley's stuff, lots of low carb Mediterranean type meals. The 800 kcal diet is tough and intense but I've heard some great losses on the Facebook page.

Or the awesome BIWI is starting her low carb boot camp on 22nd May. Have a look at that, it really works, I went from 14 stone to 12 last time I did it.

And remember lots of us are here to support you.

ThomasRichard · 15/05/2017 20:08

OP, please do call the airline and see what they can do to help. It's so much better to have a plan rather than the stress of turning up not knowing what will happen. You might well be able to book the seat next to you at a discounted rate (I know Virgin do this).

Good luck with the weight loss too Flowers
