What exactly is the Conservative government doing or going to do, for the 'working classes'? What are their tangible, core policies, to benefit the average Joe & Jane?

Just that

OP posts:
fakenamefornow · 12/05/2017 16:38

I keep coming up against time and time again whereby my collegues with strapping 16 and 17 year old kids won't work a single hour over 16 hours because heaven forbid they should work for it when they can get it for free.

  1. What is it they get for free?
  2. There is a thread with a very similar theme at the moment about taxing people more if they earn over 80k, OP says husband will quit job/reduce earnings if asked to contribute a bit more.
Cleorapter · 12/05/2017 16:58

What exactly will labour do for the people actually paying into the system and holding the country up?

Are you implying only people earning over 80k are paying into the system?

Anon213 · 12/05/2017 16:59

I have met several of those people over the years who won't work a single hour over 16 because of tax credits. They need to be scrapped because they dont encourage people into full time work.

Silvertap · 12/05/2017 18:02

Another one who has come across an awful lot of people who refuse to work over 16 hours. Used to drive me mad.

RoseGoldProsecco · 12/05/2017 18:05

Also you have to lol at someone whose username is Maggie blue not liking the tories!!

pennypickle · 12/05/2017 18:09

Exactly the same as Labour. Raise taxes for the rich to give to those who cant be arsed to work I imagine..

Dianneabbottsmathsteacher · 12/05/2017 18:11

the conservatives are wolves disguised as sheep

Yawn bloody yawn op. Does 4 legs good 2 legs bad mean anything to you?

RortyCrankle · 12/05/2017 21:00

How many more of these anti Tory threads do we need in AIBU. It's pathetic and repetitive and boring as fuck.

PS The Tories are going to win the GE with an increased majority so suck it.

MyBeloved · 12/05/2017 21:13

I do know my new tax code (issued this april) means I have more personal income before having to pay tax. That's more money for my family each month.

I'm not a high earner.

I know I will have to pay less death duty on my parent's property when they pass on.

I'm fortunate in that I have not had to wait long to see specialists within the nhs and do feel that many funding issues could be tackled by fining people who repeatedly don't turn up for appointments.

I work for a government funded care project - doesn't fit with the 'bad Tory' mantra.

No political party is perfect.

The tax code goes up every year. It is not a Tory giveaway.

The will be no NHS if the Tories get back in.

YeahILoveSummer · 12/05/2017 22:43

hope that they will start to put an end to the nonsense I keep coming up against time and time again whereby my collegues with strapping 16 and 17 year old kids won't work a single hour over 16 hours because heaven forbid they should work for it when they can get it for free.

What's strapping 16 and 17 year old kids got to do with anything?

FelixtheMouse · 12/05/2017 22:45

Keep the totally incompetent and hopelessly divided Labour party out of office?

Anon213 · 12/05/2017 23:08

Corbyn seems to be planing on bankrupting this country so he can introduce communism via the back door. Russia is loving this.

MyBeloved · 12/05/2017 23:18

I won't be voting for Jeremy corbyn. His party is anti Semitic, mysoginistic and in total chaos.

I may vote lib dem. I may vote Tory. But I will not vote Labour while jc is at the helm .

SeaWitchly · 12/05/2017 23:29

Well the Tories are repealing the ban on fox hunting.
Yeah that's a great policy that the masses can really get behind.

Otherwise they have very little to offer.
More of the same failed austerity plan I suppose. Deliberately underfunding the NHS and underpaying it's staff, that sort of thing.

Oh and continuing British weapons sales to their mates in Saudi Arabia... Corbyn has vowed to end this if Labour are voted in.

HelenaDove · 12/05/2017 23:32

Yeah Anon they are currently "helping" my pensioner husband through the DLA to PIP "process"

RainbowsAndUnicorn · 12/05/2017 23:43

Offer our children a better future rather than the current generation of do little gain a lot that the benefit system currently allows.

Outlooks for children will be better with the cap in place that limits benefits to two children, less will be born into families that had no intention of actually supporting them.

SynysterGates · 12/05/2017 23:46

fuck all

KeiraKnightleyActsWithHerTeeth · 12/05/2017 23:57

Get rid of that lot from over there who are taking all the jobs.

fruitandbarley · 13/05/2017 00:29

They are doing nothing, but the media will convince a lot of people otherwise. We should have critical thinking taught as part of the national curriculum. I urge anyone with children to look at the cuts being made to their school. There's an app online. And if you've used the NHS in the last few years , have a look how the Americans get on and see if you fancy living like that.

Biker47 · 13/05/2017 08:21

Yeah and it went up £2.5k in 13 years of Labour rule, it's went up £5k the past 7 years.

No they're not, it will be given a free vote. Which was in both the 2010 and 2015 manifesto, it's not brand new infortmation, it's 7 years old now.

user1471439240 · 13/05/2017 09:06

ThisIsStarting nails it above.
The vast inequality of tax credits have swung it for lower paid people.
Great while qualifying for, an absolute kick in the teeth once their children grow up and no longer claim.
The Tories have tried to cut tax credits, the coming majority in the election will enable that.

allegretto · 13/05/2017 09:21

Unless there are empty wards all over the country because they can't afford beds which I'm unaware of.
Yes! There are empty wards all over the country. There are empty hospitals over tge country. The problem isn't "space".
