In my mad life of looking after everyone...I am trying to find time for me. Kids....family....partner....I am lucky and love my role but the days turn into weeks and the weeks into months and I feel like I am on a hamster wheel. What do you do to for you? Am trying to get inspired in finding moments I can call my own and feel a little more self fulfilled.

I listen to my own music in my car for 10 mins a day when I drive home from work. Feels pretty luxurious nowadays.

I'm taking my mum out for lunch this weekend, that's quite a treat too.

BuggerOffAndGoodDayToYou · 11/05/2017 20:38

I watch Neighbours every day when I get home from work before I start on the house. I have my hair done every 6-8 weeks and I treat myself to a massage or facial once a year.

My main 'me' time is actually 'us' time. We go walking or running together most days.

TinklyLittleLaugh · 11/05/2017 20:38

I garden
I write and go to a writers group once a fortnight
I go to church
I exercise
Occasionally I paint

But really, I have my life arranged pretty much how I want it and don't have much to complain about.

splendide · 11/05/2017 20:39

It's all about perspective!

I genuinely get a lot of happiness from a lovely new notebook and a fountain pen. Boring work stuff it's lots more bearable with a new ink!

sadsquid · 11/05/2017 20:39

I do a drawing class once a week and I'm doing an OU degree, which is stressful in the run-up to deadlines but is massively satisfying as well at least it is when I get decent marks . I want to go for more solitary walks, I used to love my commute on foot pre-kids, but by the end of the day I'm normally so knackered I change my mind.

clearoffunumpty · 11/05/2017 20:40

My allotment is all for me, I can choose between good old digging/planting session or a bit of fannying around with the hoe and watering can Smile

Bigglassofwineplease · 11/05/2017 20:40

FlowersMoopoint.....enjoy every moment with your mum

I read. I love a good novel, and have read about 40 already this year. I always read a few chapters when I go to bed, and then quite often read during my lie in day at the weekend (dh and I have one day each to lie in). I read while sitting at swimming lessons/supervising soft play/etc as well.

I also play stupid games on my phone Blush. It was one called GeoHitch until recently, when it was discontinued :( now I've started a game called ingress. It makes me go out for a walk as well, because it's one of these geolocation games like Pokémon go.

mizu · 11/05/2017 20:41

Bath and book, couple of times a week.

Parker231 · 11/05/2017 20:41

Regular gym classes, hair appointments, massages, trips away with the girls for shopping, sightseeing etc

NorthStarGrassman · 11/05/2017 20:43

I'm learning to play the cello. It's brilliant and something that is entirely for me and doesn't benefit anyone else in any way!

Lovelilies · 11/05/2017 20:46

Single Mum here too.
Rarely have any time without at least one of my 3 around 🙄
I like to have a nice bath!
Whenever I do have a few hours without DC, there's always 'stuff' to be done. Today I painted the garden fence, and had an hour's nap 😁
If I wasn't so knackered I would
Do some exercise
Cook nicer food
Go to hairdresser/ beautician
Read
Go looking round lovely shops

Bythepath · 11/05/2017 20:48

I run, about 3 times a week up on the hills with no music just enjoying time to myself. I also do gardening and meet up with friends.

LizzieMacQueen · 11/05/2017 20:48

I play the piano.

Someone once told me to do something physical, musical and whimsical every day. Lovely concept if you have the time. I guess you could substitute weekly rather than daily.

Fireinthegrate · 11/05/2017 20:56

I've just got myself a horse. This one is for me, whereas over the past upteen years ponies and horses have been for my daughter.
I am loving all the care as well as the riding.
Once I've got used to her I know my riding time will be my zone out time.

QueenofallIsee · 11/05/2017 20:59

I buy beautiful pens and notebooks.
I read lots of novels and listen to audio books when I do the housework. I have my nails done every few weeks.
I go to bed early on new sheets (changed by DP) every Friday and leave DP/kids/dog to fend for themselves (bliss).
I see each of my close friends at least once a month for dinner/drinks/cinema/catch up.
DP and I go away alone once a year for 3 nights

ProseccoBitch · 11/05/2017 20:59

I bloody love stationery too.

I read, I always keep my current book in my handbag so if I can snatch some time it's there. It's the only thing that I don't get distracted from because I can't do anything else with my eyes, hands or brain!

Beedoo123 · 11/05/2017 20:59

Yoga... just once a week but it's time just for me Smile

theSnuffster · 11/05/2017 21:17

I meet friends for coffee once a week, taking it in turns to host at each of our houses. We've met most weeks for over 4 years now. I feel guilty though because it's my day off work so time I should spend doing housework or grocery shopping. But honestly it's what keeps me sane.

Writerwannabe83 · 11/05/2017 22:00

Every month I go and have a facial, massage and some beauty treatments.

Twice a month I arrange my shifts to fall on certain days so that it means I'm home on a day that my DS is in childcare - it's heaven.

About twice a month I will spend the night at my moms house (inbetween working two shifts) so I can have an uninterrupted bath and uninterrupted night's sleep.

Once a month I have a 'Film Night' with my sister where we watch films and order pizza.

DH is also brilliant and deals with DS on Saturday and Sunday mornings so I can get a lie in if I'm not working.

When DH comes home from work I make myself a cup of tea and hide away upstairs for 30 minutes so I can drink it in peace and when it's hot Grin

DH also takes DS out quite a lot so I can have some peaceful alone time.

DH also takes DS on holidays (if I can't get Annual Leave at the same time) so I get a lot of alone time then too Grin

I'm really lucky actually.

SparklyUnicornPoo · 11/05/2017 22:03

I do some volunteering (Guiding).

If the weathers ok I walk the long way home from work, which is along the river, there's a really nice spot that I like to sit at for a while, its about 2 miles out of town so it's quiet apart from some farm animals, I grew up in the countryside so it reminds me of home.

millmoo · 11/05/2017 22:07

Today I took a sickie (I was burning up and had a very sore throat) and I led on the sofa all day and read a whole book -it's been amazing and great for my mental health ! Just a whole day to me -had a really really tough few weeks at work and just needed a day with no disturbances to put things into perspective Smile

EssexCat · 11/05/2017 22:08

I play tennis. Once a week for an hour. It is the highlight of my entire week and keeps me going.

bluejelly · 11/05/2017 22:37

I run three times a week.
Book group once a month.
Long weekend with girlfriends and another with dp once a year.
It's more about escaping work than escaping children!

Bigglassofwineplease · 11/05/2017 22:39

Loads of lovely ideas. I'm going to have a think whilst I desperately try to have some me time getting some beauty sleep. There's another 24 hours to get through tomorrow! Thankyou. Wishing you all as much you time as you can get xx
