In my mad life of looking after everyone...I am trying to find time for me. Kids....family....partner....I am lucky and love my role but the days turn into weeks and the weeks into months and I feel like I am on a hamster wheel. What do you do to for you? Am trying to get inspired in finding moments I can call my own and feel a little more self fulfilled.

Stilldrivingmebonkers do you have children?
How do you find all that time?

HerBluebiro · 11/05/2017 20:14

I garden. I cannot be arsed to meditate (I think I'm doing it wrong). I watch rubbish on TV. I play computer games. I watch the birds.

I commute. In silence. In my car. It is divine.

Bigglassofwineplease · 11/05/2017 20:15

Assuming everyone has kids on Mumsnet?! Maybe some get a lot more support. I am a single mum so have to be responsible 98% of the time. The other 2% is when they are at friends' houses etc. I don't have any family support....

Oh reading! I haven't read for pleasure in forever! I mean years. But yesterday I got home from work and had 40 minutes before DC's granny dropped them home so I sat out in the sun and started a book. It was lovely.

FreeNiki · 11/05/2017 20:16

I go to the gym.

Other than that, not much.

Bigglassofwineplease · 11/05/2017 20:17

GrinI never have the radio on in the car to work. Silence is heaven

Same here bigglass. Single mum. DCs granny collects them from school every other Wednesday and keeps them until 6pm, I work until 5 so the 40 minutes between me getting in and them getting home is my only me time.

PeaFaceMcgee · 11/05/2017 20:19

I lie on my bed for at least an hour whilst DH puts the DC to bed.

Dbsparkles · 11/05/2017 20:19

Running and classes

uhohspaghettiohs · 11/05/2017 20:20

I go to a group PT and lift weights! It is amazing and addictive, great for my endorphins and gives me something to look forward to.

I also have two beauty box subscriptions so that is my treat every month. When they arrive I feel happy and content for at least a few days! Well worth the money IMO.

Bigglassofwineplease · 11/05/2017 20:20

SadI dream of having my mum here with me. I lost her 8 years ago. Miss her so much. I would have us time then and wouldn't need me time.

About 5 hours of running a week (usually a couple of commutes thrown in). And I listen to podcasts during that time. I don't know what I did before I used to run.

Out once a week with friends for drinks and dinner.

BitchQueen90 · 11/05/2017 20:24

I go to the gym. Have a coffee and nice cake out once a week (by myself.) Get my nails, hair and eyebrows done. Have facials once a month.

gottaloveascamhun · 11/05/2017 20:25

Yoga, swimming once a week each. Nails done every 2 weeks and a nice chat with my lovely technician who comes to my house. Spa day once a year. Weekend away without kids twice a year. Occasional nap at the weekend. I teach part time and have young children so I savour peace and quiet!

My Hobby: I take my dogs to training classes- it's very therapeutic to just concentrate on one thing without interruption and working at my own pace! (It helps, that they are very clever and learn quickly! Grin)
I also try and read every day...

IllBeAtTheSpa · 11/05/2017 20:27

Also a spa trip about 2-3 times a year (how could I forget that 🙈)

Bigglassofwineplease · 11/05/2017 20:28

GrinMaybe....I am just experiencing me time being on this talking to you! I have just had an hour to myself and not realised it! The kids are in their rooms. I just need to be more organised.....this could have been a bath or a walk or a keep fit DVD....or telly....or a glass of wine.... Actually, I am going to have a glass now! Thursday is the new Friday

I have zero time really as I work full time and look after DS every minutes I'm at home. I carve out little pleasures though. So I have really nice stationery at work and lovely coffee. It'll do for now.

Bigglassofwineplease · 11/05/2017 20:33

I love nice stationery. New pads and a nice smooth bic. Maybe I am getting me time in ways I didn't appreciate before....
