Think it's weird that my neighbours EAT their dinner in the street?

I live in a usually quiet cul-de-sac (now I say usually, we do have 2 persistent drug users who are middle-aged women and an old couple who seem to think it's 'normal' to have their ds, dil and GS round to their bungalow 7 days a week from 7.30am till about 9pm).
Now the aformentioned old couple have a tendency to think they 'own' the cul-de-sac they sit out side in all weather's watching their GS (who isn't a nice little boy- he swears and punches other kids) ride around on various powered cars from about 10am till about 8pm weekends and school holidays and then from school finishing time till 8pm during the week.

This isn't just the odd hour here and there it's ALL the stated times!
Now the better weather is here the whole family sit in the road on deck chairs with a parasol up and a kiddie bench for the GS. They have now started encouraging other children (some of their own family's children some that are strategically dumped on them by the lazy mother who would rather be out on her own than watching her 2 kuds and others on the estate) to congregate in our 'quiet' cul-de-sac, (please bear in mind that there are about 12 houses in this area with about 2 cars for each house).
So today it's been a lovely sunny day I went outside to put washing out only to be met with the familiar smell of cannabis from drug addict no1 them to top it off we went out to take our 3 kids to the park only to be met with the old couple their DS, DIL And GS EATING their full Sunday roast on their laps on deck chairs strewn all over the road!
I am definitely no snob but come on surely this is a no-no? Or am I just as my husband puts it 'getting myself worked up over nothing'?

It must be difficult to eat a roast dinner balanced on your lap in a deckchair. (Misses point of thread)

RTKangaMummy · 07/05/2017 19:12

Please take a photo from your upstairs window GrinGrinGrin

RTKangaMummy · 07/05/2017 19:13

I would be really intimidated too op

winewolfhowls · 07/05/2017 19:15

At least they are supervising the kids, a bit.

Bluntness100 · 07/05/2017 19:17

It does sound awful and intimidating yes. I think everyone just got caught up in the mental imagery of a family sitting on deckchairs on the road eating a roast dinner. It's so bizzare it's comical. However it doesn't take away from the awful anti social behaviour being displayed.

But still. Eating your Sunday roast on the street is a new one on me.

Gallavich · 07/05/2017 19:17

I wouldn't mind this at all (weird though it is) if they were nice people. But they sound horrible and intimidating so I don't blame you for not enjoying having them in your face 24/7. Can you move?

Marmalade85 · 07/05/2017 19:18

I would definitely be looking to live. This sound horrendous

hmmwhatatodo · 07/05/2017 19:23

I imagine they are doing it to show everyone who's the boss (of the street).

Hefzi · 07/05/2017 19:25

If you hadn't already said where you are, I'd have thought we were neighbours. We don't have gardens, so the fashion here is to drag your seat back and forth across the street, following the sun. And if you open your windows, your home and everything in it stinks of weed for days after. I hear you, OP Grin

Rachel0Greep · 07/05/2017 19:39

I would absolutely hate to see that. Can't even imagine it.

user1489179512 · 07/05/2017 19:40

Oh come on, guys. This is funny in a Shameless kind of way! Excellent.

JanuarySmith · 07/05/2017 19:40

God how awful Op. any chance you can look to move? I'd hate this

requestingsunshine · 07/05/2017 19:40

That's just so weird. How do you eat a roast dinner off your lap??? And in the actual road! Confused

user1489179512 · 07/05/2017 19:40

Horrendous!? Some of you are so tense and uptight.

dinosaursandtea · 07/05/2017 19:48

That's horrible. YANBU. And frankly, it's common as fuck.

GabsAlot · 07/05/2017 19:50

Crispbutty · 07/05/2017 19:51

Does she wheel it all out on a tea trolley? Grin

emilybrontescorset · 07/05/2017 19:52

Why don't they sit in the garden?
Is that too normal?

PodgeBod · 07/05/2017 19:56

There's a really nice retired couple on my road, if the weather is nice they sit in their front garden on a bench and read. I think they're incredibly sweet and I hope me and DP end up like them.
Eating your roast dinner in the road, though Grin Is there nothing on telly?

Esoresila · 07/05/2017 19:59

Sarahcinnorsbiceps......not a 'middle class neighbour' I grew up on one of the roughest estates but I have standards and their are elderly neighbours who feel intimidated by them and won't say anything, but surely it's not too much to ask for a little comprise? It's not just once in a blue moon its EVERY SINGLE DAY!!

OP posts:
Bambambini · 07/05/2017 20:05

Sarahconnor - they're not the Von Trapps or even the Larkins - Op says they can be aggressive and threatening. If they were nice - it probably wouldn't bother me that much.

Bambambini · 07/05/2017 20:07

We sit with the inlaws in their front garden in the sun waving to everyone as the buses and cars go by. We probably get a few looks.

toffeeboffin · 07/05/2017 20:17

If they were middle /upper they'd simply be eating al fresco.

You lot are so judgemental.
