Think it's weird that my neighbours EAT their dinner in the street?

I live in a usually quiet cul-de-sac (now I say usually, we do have 2 persistent drug users who are middle-aged women and an old couple who seem to think it's 'normal' to have their ds, dil and GS round to their bungalow 7 days a week from 7.30am till about 9pm).
Now the aformentioned old couple have a tendency to think they 'own' the cul-de-sac they sit out side in all weather's watching their GS (who isn't a nice little boy- he swears and punches other kids) ride around on various powered cars from about 10am till about 8pm weekends and school holidays and then from school finishing time till 8pm during the week.

This isn't just the odd hour here and there it's ALL the stated times!
Now the better weather is here the whole family sit in the road on deck chairs with a parasol up and a kiddie bench for the GS. They have now started encouraging other children (some of their own family's children some that are strategically dumped on them by the lazy mother who would rather be out on her own than watching her 2 kuds and others on the estate) to congregate in our 'quiet' cul-de-sac, (please bear in mind that there are about 12 houses in this area with about 2 cars for each house).
So today it's been a lovely sunny day I went outside to put washing out only to be met with the familiar smell of cannabis from drug addict no1 them to top it off we went out to take our 3 kids to the park only to be met with the old couple their DS, DIL And GS EATING their full Sunday roast on their laps on deck chairs strewn all over the road!
I am definitely no snob but come on surely this is a no-no? Or am I just as my husband puts it 'getting myself worked up over nothing'?

Scrubbers?

papayasareyum · 07/05/2017 18:06

When we were selling our house about a decade ago, the estate agent commented on our neighbours opposite, two or three houses who would sit together on doorsteps/deck chairs and eat/drink. The estate agent said we'd struggle to sell if they were doing that during viewings and it would reduce the value of our house!!

Esoresila · 07/05/2017 18:07

Smokecloke.....scrubbers are the lowest of the low lol

It's certainly strange but maybe they are trying to be sociable?

Foster a good friendly neighbourhood

though it would put me off

EezerGoode · 07/05/2017 18:08

If you can't beat em..join em..grab a joint ,have a puff and see if there's any leftovers

SmokeCloak · 07/05/2017 18:08

I think it's nice to sit out the front and chat to your neighbours. Not so sure about eating my Sunday Roast out there though Grin

BarbaraofSeville · 07/05/2017 18:09

There's too much other stuff going on in your post to make sense of it but the bit about eating dinner in the road sounds like the most harmlessly bizarre behaviour ever.

SmokeCloak · 07/05/2017 18:10

I used to sit out the front with a couple of neighbours when all the kids were young and wanted to play on their bikes etc.

grasspigeons · 07/05/2017 18:11

I'd be more irritated by the smoking but we didn't used to have a garden just a communal area out front of the houses so a lot of people ate breakfast in particular out front.

MrsPeelyWaly · 07/05/2017 18:13

OP, you sound just peachy. Hmm

VladmirsPoutine · 07/05/2017 18:14

Live and let live.

You sound very Hyacinth Bucket.

Bluntness100 · 07/05/2017 18:15

I'd find it odd but amusing and probably just say hi and wave
They are obviously out there watching the kids play. Of all the things they are doing this is the most harmless i think.

Maudlinmaud · 07/05/2017 18:15

I have a nightmare neighbour. Just one, he fills me with the rage but thats because he doesn't leave me alone. These folks are not actually doing anything to you, so I would just watch and laugh.

DianneDionne · 07/05/2017 18:15

OP this is really weird. And funny. But I can see how it would be irritating to live with. I'm not sure what you can do though.

At least the children are getting decent food??

Puddington · 07/05/2017 18:15

but the bit about eating dinner in the road sounds like the most harmlessly bizarre behaviour ever

Haha! Well put. I can't envision this. I don't know if I'd necessarily be annoyed by people doing that (some other stuff in your post sounds a bit crap though) but the thought of eating a Sunday roast while sitting in a deckchair in the street makes me anxious! Surely you'd be uncomfortable and spill bits of it Confused

Whatsforu · 07/05/2017 18:15

Well see I have got seriously uptight neighbours who practically tut and shake their heads if we let the grass grow an inch!!! So I kinda like the sound of yours.

jarhead123 · 07/05/2017 18:17

Really weird - but then some people ARE weird!

YANBU!

ThePinkOcelot · 07/05/2017 18:18

Where has it been warm enough to sit outside today? I've been freezing all day!

Maudlinmaud · 07/05/2017 18:19

20 degrees here in NI, I have changed colour ocelot

Janey50 · 07/05/2017 18:20

Scrubbers! Grin

DearMrDilkington · 07/05/2017 18:21

I love that they're sat in the road in deck chairs and a roast dinner on their laps.Grin

Have they got dessert out there yet?

Ravenblack · 07/05/2017 18:23

Move?

BlueDaBaDee · 07/05/2017 18:23

They sound fun Grin

MovingOnUpMovingOnOut · 07/05/2017 18:23

And is it a Viennetta?

LynetteScavo · 07/05/2017 18:26
