To be annoyed at this EBay buyer?

Sold a glass bowl on EBay this week. Just had a message saying it's arrived in pieces and the purchaser is not happy. I responded "Quite aggressive! I am sorry to hear that. Please can you send me a photo?"
I know I shouldn't have said she was aggressive ( even though she was! ).
She has already left negative feedback - I had almost 500 and 109% positive until then!
I think she could have given me the chance to put things right! I have had things from EBay in the past which were broken or there was a problem with and have contacted the seller and sorted it out.
Any ideas what will happen now?

Trifle I think OP said the negative feedback was left before she even replied to the buyer ...

LightYears · 06/05/2017 18:51

It's suspicious she hasn't sent a photo.

Trifleorbust · 06/05/2017 18:53

Oh I see. That does seem a little unreasonable, but the item was broken so it isn't beyond the pale for her to point out that she didn't get what she paid for. A bit quick off the mark, yes. But the 'bit aggressive' was a poor reaction on the part of the OP.

greenlavender · 06/05/2017 18:55

If you were that rude then she may break the bowl even more & then send pictures.

LightYears · 06/05/2017 18:55

don't think you have quite understood what eBay is about, it is a selling site , not a dating site or Facebook. Grin

Puzzledandpissedoff · 06/05/2017 19:01

Good luck, too, with trying to get the negative feedback removed Hmm

It only happened to me once, when a buyer of an extremely fragile item, clearly marked collection only, demanded I post it and emailed filthy abuse when I refused. The idiots at their call centre just parroted a script about "it's his opinion" and it took speaking to Appeals to get any sense at all

Which is why, like so many other "private" sellers, I don't use ebay any more

QueenofPentacles · 06/05/2017 19:12

I just received a very badly packaged broken item and the seller insinuated I had damaged it. Yeah right I can make veneer bubble up with my laser eyes.
So you must always be very polite to buyers or you will get negged.
tbh if she had opened a dispute in resolution centre it is tricky for her to neg you. If you refund her fully you may have been able to get the neg removed, probably not now since you said she was aggressive.

@viques
"surrounded by polar bear poo "

Coffee / keyboard interface!

Never heard it called that before, but what a marvellous description.

JaneEyre70 · 06/05/2017 19:17

You can respond to feedback, along the lines of buyer never gave me chance to put right. However, I wouldn't dismiss someone with 1 negative and more than 500 positive from buying off.
In honesty, I would refund and chalk it up to experience. And block that buyer. It's a lesson we learned the hard way, ending up significantly out of pocket for a so say damaged item that was sent by specialist courier but the buyer was so "distressed and upset" over that they couldn't engage about it or send photographic evidence of the damage. We only sell things now via local FB selling sites. You get the money when they collect and it's far less hassle and expense.

kali110 · 06/05/2017 19:59

Add her to the block this? What exactly has this buyer done wrong, apart from receive a broken item and then be called aggressive by the op?
for all anyone knows she could be at work right now! Not everyone has time to send pics Confused
This week the app and mobile site wouldn't work for me for 2 days!
The op has said already she was wrong for responding how she did.

Libitina · 06/05/2017 20:03

We sold an item a few weeks ago that was brand new in it's box. Buyer with feedback of less than 30 (we have over 3k and 16+ years),came back to say it had obviously been used and what were we going to do about it. We also asked for photographic proof. Still waiting 6 weeks later.

We rarely sell on Ebay these days due to previous chancers.

kimann · 06/05/2017 20:11

errrrrrr - she wasn't aggressive. you shouldn't hv called her that. YABU. Grin
