To think that leggings as school uniform is not 'lazy parenting'?

Had a bit of a debate last night with a friend.

My DD wears black leggings to school. Her school isn't that strict about uniform; ties are optional, polo shirts are normal, etc. They do a daily mile run and lots of outdoors activities, and gym 3 times a week.

She's comfortable in leggings, they keep her warm, so that's what she wears (sometimes - she also has skirts and a summer dress).

But my friend was very scathing about the leggings! She says it's lazy parenting, to which I asked in which way I was a lazy parent for sending my daughter to school in comfortable clothes which adhere to the dress code.

She had no reply; essentially she just doesn't like leggings. It's sloppy, apparently, to let kids wear leggings, but other forms of black trousers are ok. I think she assumes it's to save me on ironing, maybe? Which it isn't.

So AIBU to let my daughter go to school in leggings?

Look at all those asbo kids looking so fucked after spending days deciding what to wear

Tw1nset, at my dd's school they run a mile each day right from primary 1, so age 4. That's on top of 2 hours of pe a week. Kids all love it!

My daughters school expect leggings for PE and don't bother too much about them the rest of the time. In fact she was recently told off for wearing grey tights with a single butterfly in the knee yet plain black leggings are fine.

I'm fascinated to think that people have 'friends' who accuse them of 'lazy parenting'. I wouldn't be having it, and I'm epically mild-mannered.

All the school skirts or trousers I've seen seen to be made of Teflon, Negging the same amount of laundering etc as leggings, so how can leggings be lazy?

Your friend could keep her opinions to herself.

imo leggings are more appropraiate than some of the skirt's some of the girls wear to our local secondary school a few just long enough to cover their bottom even with tights

Btw leggings are not allowed as part of our uniform school but girls still wear them

actually TragicallyUnbeyachted, an age appropriate dress happens to be suitable for an interview

And age appropriate clothing like leggings on a six year old happen to be suitable for school. Pronouncing on what a six year old should wear on the basis of whether it'd be suitable for an adult attending a job interview is just bizarre.

Personally I think if a primary school has a uniform, it should be leggings or joggers paired with a t shirt of some description. Purely for ease of movement.
