Ever since me and my partner moved in together in Jan, I 've looked after his 4 yr old stepdaughter, felt more and more broody by the day and recently found out I was nearly 3 months pregnant! Today I spent in soft play with LO, suffering from bellyache, sore feet and needing to pee the whole time I was there and now I'm organising LO and running her bath but I can't wait to get to sleep!! Truth is, it feels like hard work, pregnancy 's uncomfortable but I'm loving every minute of family life.
I even love my 'tum' and boobs!! Me and OH have decided we want our babies close together so any advice on the chaotic years to follow would be appreciated!!

all her time looking after the girl, not her stepdaughter.

Now I'm really confused.

Not surprised . I hate this phone.

Before I had kids I always got comments off people who I babysat for that I was so maternal and I'd be a brilliant mum. When it came to it, completely different story. I quickly learned it's miles different looking after someone else's child than to your own. I was determined to have one after my little boy but I've decided to have another and I'm excited but also crapping myself too lol I agree with everyone else see how you get on good luck!

Did you need another thread OP? Hmm

Congratulations OP that's lovely. My DH and I knew we wanted a big family too, we bought a 7 seater when we only had one child Blush. We now have 3 and still want one more so the reality doesn't put everyone off. That's nice you have a good relationship with your stepdaughter too.

Flap in fairness I thought that thread was totally lighthearted and don't think it's contradictory.
I do think it's odd that the ops oh has contact with his stepdaughter but then seems to expect his wife to do all the actual parenting

stealth but in that thread the op says they are thinking about starting a family but in this thread the op states she is already pregnant.

Report
Lj8893 · 30/04/2017 18:35

Oh I just realised both threads are different ops. Ignore my previous post!

Report
StealthPolarBear · 30/04/2017 18:36

Ah I get it now. Must be the same op with a different name.

Report
FlapAttack78 · 30/04/2017 18:37

Ha oh is it the same OP?!?!?!? I had no idea

I just thought a read of this would help OP not get too lost in the dreaminess of motherhood based the afterglow of "I did it" following on a few hours in soft play!!

Ignore me entirely please. I am talking crap.
Op started another thread saying her feet hurt and she was burping constantly. We've all been there and I thought the replies were a bit mean.

I'm even more confused now Grin

I agree with Stealth, don't take on all the parenting of your OH's step daughter when she visits, unless you're prepared to carry that on when your baby arrives. It would be very confusing and upsetting for the step daughter to be "replaced" by a baby. It's a tricky dynamic.

Perhaps mention to your midwife about needing to pee all the time. Could be a UTI.

There was another very similar thread about pregnant women in soft play. I'm too tired to search for it though!

I agree with ilostitinthe, if you're having to pee loads already it could be a UTI. Might be worth asking at your next appointment or booking one in.

A uti needs antibiotics which will need to be prescribed by a gp, not a midwife so would be worth the op seeing her gp sooner rather than later.
