AIBU to move to France and persuade him to marry me and live in France as the French First Lady thing?

She was a teacher but not his teacher.

Badcat666 · 29/04/2017 00:07

Him and the Canadian PM... Be still my beating heart fans self ding dong

Okkitokkiunga · 29/04/2017 00:08

His parents changed his school to try to separate them.

I think they e been married for 10 years. Apparently he told her when he was 17 that he was going to marry her. DH reckons it is proof of his determination to succeed.

GinSwigmore · 29/04/2017 00:10

She was running an extra curricular group he was a member of.
And as a former teacher, it makes no difference whether he was in her class or not, you are loco parentis and you are breaching trust.
Not having a go at you, just stating facts.

That said, had Bill Wyman and Mandy Smith lasted I would still be judgy pants about them too Wink

GinSwigmore · 29/04/2017 00:12

Or proof of her dedication to suck seed (too low? Too low)
Bad Gin

GinSwigmore · 29/04/2017 00:14

But hell yes, would rather have him (and her) elected, than Marine Le Pen any day of the week.

greenworm · 29/04/2017 00:14

In France the age of consent is 15.

seoulsurvivor · 29/04/2017 00:18

Anyway greenworm...I taught 17 and 18 year olds when I was only about 22 and I still wouldn't have dreamed of doing anything with them.

For me, that's just a line you don't cross.

GinSwigmore · 29/04/2017 00:21

In Germany the age of consent is 14
BUT
there is a caveat regarding age gaps being exploitative/an adult being with a minor even if consensual. So even if legal does not mean it is laissez faire

But at least he's not a fascist.

TheNaze73 · 29/04/2017 07:14

I totally get why he's with her.

isthisacceptable200 · 29/04/2017 08:05

Aren't the whys and wherefores of Macron's relationship his business only (and possibly his parents'!)?

He really needs to win as a Le Pen presidency is an appalling concept and would be a disaster for all of us.

isthisacceptable200 · 29/04/2017 08:06

I do vaguely fancy him too. He's a bit too slight though.

velourvoyageur · 29/04/2017 08:31

He is an enormous ego in a nice suit. Read a nauseating interview with him in Le Point yesterday. Still, tout sauf Le Pen.

Ktown · 29/04/2017 08:37

I think they got friendly when he was 15. Which is ok in France.
It was 20 years ago and the French are a little more relaxed about these things, as a generalisation.

hollyisalovelyname · 29/04/2017 09:19

I think it's odd.
She was a mother of three ?
17/18 year old boy?
She was 40 approximately.

Hefzi · 29/04/2017 09:46

It's interesting that at the same time as there's a thread running about how low people are to have affairs, there's this thread! Not only is there an age gap of over a generation, not only was it a teacher - pupil relationship but also, she was still with her husband (the father of the girl who was in his class in fact) when they got together Grin MN cognitive dissonance at its finest from some PP!

The80sweregreat · 29/04/2017 09:50

His parents moved him to another school. It didnt work!

Bambambini · 29/04/2017 09:58

Parents must have been distraught. She as an adult, teacher and mother should have walked away no matter how much she facied/liked him.

The80sweregreat · 29/04/2017 10:00

He has nice eyes.

JanetBrown2015 · 29/04/2017 10:39

If they want his genetic children by the way they should go for it. They just need a donated egg and surrogate or could even use her daughters' eggs.

Madamfrog · 29/04/2017 10:56

The moving schools thing is a red herring, in France if you are aiming at the highest level of education you go to classes préparatoires aux Grandes Ecoles (which are after the Bac but situated in a lycée, though not every lycée has them). Henri IV in Paris is one of the very best, so he would, as a high-flyer, have aimed for it and had to move anyway.

Oh yeah...

VladmirsPoutine · 29/04/2017 11:36

Thing is - with geriatrics that take up with young women there is usually a financial incentive to do so. I don't think for one second anyone would give Trump the time of day if he were not a billionaire.
Odd scenario this as she seems just your typical french woman. He's the high flier.

Marmalade85 · 29/04/2017 11:58

I read somewhere that they (EM and his wife and his parents) won't confirm or deny when exactly their relationship started but I believe it was around when he was 15 and she was almost 40 and married with 3 children. His parents were appalled and tried to stop the relationship but couldn't.

Marmalade85 · 29/04/2017 12:00

Also I think the French view politicians sex lives as totally separate from the politics so is more accepted.
