To think he deserves jail? **warning child abuse related**

A man in a town near me has just been sentenced to 8 years in jail after he attacked and killed his uncle. His excuse was that his uncle abused him as a child.

Now, obviously I'm not defending his uncle as child abuse is the lowest of the low IMO, but I don't think being abused gives anyone the right to murder.

All over Facebook people are defending the killer and saying he doesn't deserve to go to jail and that he did the right thing. Is it just me or WTF? Of course he deserves jail, he murdered someone! This mentality of 2 wrongs make a right makes me so worried about the world. Aibu?

I totally understood why he did what he did and if I was on the jury would not have voted to convict him.

On the other hand, I understand that the law is the law and we can't be allowed to go around meting out what we see to be justice, so I understand why he was convicted and why he was sent to prison.

I still don't think he's the bad guy here though. I hope he finds some peace.

*Actually I just saw he pleaded to manslaughter so i wouldn't have needed to convict. General opinion still stands though.

I think he could have had a suspended sentence.

I agree the law must be clear, if you murder then there must be a consequence.

But in reality I would be perfectly happy with this man walking the streets, sharing my bus, working in the local soft play centre. He isn't a danger to society.

The problem is the extenuating circumstances reduced it to manslaughter. Then within that it was a time where he lost control and beat a man to death. That act is what was sentenced, at a manslaughter level not murder. Without the circumstances he would have been looking at life

He should be given a knighthood. Not a prison sentence for ridding the world a terrifying beast.

What does a pervert add to society.
