To not want to wear jeans EVER again?!

LilacSpatula · 25/04/2017 13:40

DD is 20 weeks old and although I didn't put too much weight on, jeans are soooo uncomfortable I've been living in maternity leggings. No unsightly lumps and bumps, they're warm and comfy.

However, now on my third pair from H&M and the fucking cat keeps jumping off my lap and ripping them. Pair no.3 have just died because someone knocked on the front door.

Any solutions to non-ripped leggings but not jeans and no lumps?! Driving me mad!

Denim jeggings? Look like jeans but feel like leggings. Next do some nice ones.

Are these the Tesco comfy begging/jeans? Tube pants?????

Frouby · 25/04/2017 14:44

I live in harem trousers and a vest top over the summer. Next have loads of different styles and colours. I luffs them. They look fine with either ballet flats, converse pumps or flip flops or sandals when it's warm enough.

I think leggings are fine with long line tops over summer but not for much else. On me anyway. I look like a moomin in dresses and leggings.

Giddyaunt18 · 25/04/2017 14:44

I love Harem pants! I have a lush black pair but they are a devil to iron!

AnnieAnoniMouse · 25/04/2017 14:47

I'm offering a different solution....

To not want to wear jeans EVER again?!
ElspethFlashman · 25/04/2017 14:53

Oh I have those Next hareem pants. They're called the Tapered Jersey Trouser. Basically like wearing pyjamas outside but nobody knows! They're baggy around the tum and arse but slim on the calf and hide a multitude. Look great with Stan Smiths.

Only danger is now I never want to wear anything else so it's a slippery slope. Also the patterned ones are a bit horrible - I stick to plain black.

There is a pair of jeans I swear by though post-babies. The 360 ones (also by Next, literally the only 2 items for adults I buy in there). They were built for post natal women who want to cry in changing rooms. Suck every blessed thing in and stay sucked in for weeks.

My cat waits for me to put a blanket on my lap before jumping on, has learned to do this after being moved over so that I can put it over my clothes. Have saved lots of leggings that way. Unfortunately not found a solution for snagged tops so have a lot of raggy shoulders.

cafenoirbiscuit · 25/04/2017 14:57

Zara do lovely black leggings - they are about £20 and last forever.

HonestK · 25/04/2017 14:58

I know you said no jeans, but I'm a fan of Topshop's Jamie highwaisted jeans. Wait wait, hear me out!
Since my little one they are all I wear as the high waisted acts as a mum pouch concealer and the material is comfortable. I would say the black jeans wash out quickly - my excuse for never washing them.
Maybe worth a try :)

HonestK · 25/04/2017 15:07

Haha! Yes please! Although I'm considerably more fluffy than this

BorpBorpBorp · 25/04/2017 15:09

Trim the cat's claws?

NervousNellie29 · 25/04/2017 15:09

I buy jeggings!
Combination of jeans and leggings. Super amazing and comfortable. Stretchy enough that there's no lumps and bumps but seems to be a tougher material than leggings.
I buy mine from FatFace but I'm sure you can find them cheaper elsewhere Smile

NervousNellie29 · 25/04/2017 15:10

I basically live in these so worth the £42 for me

flownthecoopkiwi · 25/04/2017 15:13

Stretch jeans from Tesco, foundcthem by accident and fab. Look like jeans but elastic, forgiving, waist band

TheFairyCaravan · 25/04/2017 15:18

These are the Next tapered jersey trousers that you need.

I suffer from a severe pain condition and would live life in pyjamas if it wasn't for these. I've just come out of hospital today, with a huge cut across my pelvis, I've got these on and a jumper and I'm still comfy.

amusedbush · 25/04/2017 15:21

Jeans = leg prisons. I'm just back from a city break where I wore skinny jeans every day to "smarten up". Today I'm wearing leggings and a long top and it's like wearing pyjamas to work. BLISS.

Gingerbreadmam · 25/04/2017 15:26

just a warning against the next ones, i was reading about them on the mn thread and snapped some up.

Now i dont know if its because i am fat but they annoy the f out of me. Yes they are comfy. Until you walk then the waist band moves all over and if you ever suffer chub rub well you will also get sore inner legs after a decent walk.

My thigh skin has replenished itself a few times since getting these!

EB123 · 25/04/2017 15:28

I hate jeans and look awful in them so gave them up years ago. YANBU. I do live in leggings/tights with dresses x

dangermouseisace · 25/04/2017 15:38

I bought a pair of skinny jeans reduced in H&M. They are really stretchy, high waisted and pretty comfy. I find most jeans cut the circulation off in my legs (like sitting cross legged). These don't- best £10 ever!

MycatsaPirate · 25/04/2017 15:39

Dorothy perkins sell jeggings which are so comfy.

And I have a fab pair of black leggings from Top Shop which were £20 but worth every single penny.

However, the cat hairs stick to the black jeggings but not the blue ones. So don't get the black ones :o

sparechange · 25/04/2017 15:50

Unicqlo do amazing jeggings
I live in them

TheFairyCaravan · 25/04/2017 15:55

I've been wearing the Next ones for 3 or 4 years, the waistband has never moved on any of mine.

icy121 · 25/04/2017 15:55

Black extra thick strong suck you in stretchy black leggings. I got a pair from Zara for work to wear with an oversized white or black blouse and voila - uniform. Got sick of spending money on black trousers that lose all shape round the bum. Didn't matter how much I spent - £15 gap sale, £150 Reiss's finest. All went the same bloody saggy arsed way.

Never looking back. I think my favourite pair were about £18. They took me through to about 5 or 6 months pregnant, now I'm in inferior stretchy cotton topshop black leggings (same Zara billowy blouse!! Odd design with a slit up the back which was a bit weird at purchase but now I just put a matching colour vest top under and have saved a load on maternity blouses).

Weekends: athleisure. Sweaty Betty reversible patterned/black leggings are amazing. Spendy as fuck but haven't lost shape, and you get 2 pairs for one with reversibility.

Gave my skinny jeans to SD. She's just grown out of 12-13 clothes (11 and a half) so my size 10s are v comfy for her. I'm entirely done with 'em.

LilacSpatula · 25/04/2017 16:08

Loads of great ideas on here, thank you! I'm glad it's not just me.

I'm getting booties for the cat lol.
