DS is 26 months and fir the last two days and today has refused his lunchtime nap. He normally has a nap from.about 1pm to 2.30pm but we've had him saying No and get out when he's gone into his cot. Is this the end of the naps or just a phase? X

All of mine were younger than 18 months. I mean, they'd still nap if I let them but then wouldn't go to bed until 10pm so it was Hobson's choice really.

CuppaTeaTeddy · 17/04/2017 17:26

I still nap now.

ijustwannadance · 17/04/2017 17:32

My DD had stopped by 1 too. Selfish madam.

Notthisnotthat · 17/04/2017 17:32

About 3ish but depending on the day's activities. DD stopped napping at nursery first (3 full days) but still needed a nap when at home, on the other days. DD is now nearly 9 and was lovely to see her fall asleep in the car the other day after we spent a full day outside playing at an farm. I love naps!

bigTillyMint · 17/04/2017 17:34

DD had a gap between 4 and 12 of not needing an afternoon nap. She is nearly 18 and shows no signs of giving it up yetGrin

DS dropped his nap about 2 1/2.

Crunchymum · 17/04/2017 17:38

DC1 stopped when he went to preschool (he was just a few days over 3)

DC2 still naps now at 2y 3m. She may have one or two days a week she doesn't but she is no way ready to drop napping completely.

thethoughtfox · 17/04/2017 17:39

Mine is nearly 4 and is almost ready to stop napping. Some days will lie in her room for between half an hour and and hour and a half talking awn to herself but at least resting. Most days still sleeps from between 1-2 and a half hours. I love it. I call it my lunch break.

thethoughtfox · 17/04/2017 17:39

*talking away to herself

MaryWortleyMontagu · 17/04/2017 17:43

Just before 3.

Cutesbabasmummy · 17/04/2017 17:59

Thank you for all the replies! If this turns out to be the end of napping I have noooo idea how I'll get stuff done on my 1 day a week at home!!

My 13 month old can survive on one 20min kip. Usually in the car. I'm a wreck.

allowlsthinkalot · 17/04/2017 18:03

Dc1 - 3.5 years
Dc2 - 20 months
Dc 3 - 23 months ish
Dc 4 - 16 months

R1nderCella · 17/04/2017 18:13

DD was 11 months old, it was becoming such a battle that it just wasn't worth the stress on both our parts. She just seems like the type of person that can function on minimal sleep. She had her first full nights sleep at 2.4 years and now at 4 generally sleeps from 7pm to 6am.

Norma27 · 17/04/2017 20:16

Another one for less than 1yr old. Even if we have a 3 hour car journey she will be awake singing the whole time. She did start sleeping through as soon as she dropped the nap tho.

farfarawayfromhome · 17/04/2017 20:17

Mine is 3.5 and still cracks out a two hour nap each day.

Those who don't, how long do they sleep at night? How are they at bedtime? DD couldn't handle a day without a nap....

SellMySoulForSomeSleep · 17/04/2017 20:21

Consistent napping ended before 18months. Occasional napping in the car ended soon after her 2nd birthday. She is nearly 3. If she has a massively disturbed night due to to illness i might get a 10 minute cat nap out of her.

I'm very tired.

mamalovesmojitos · 17/04/2017 20:23

Before 18 months

LittleLionMansMummy · 17/04/2017 20:32

I'm sure ds was almost 4. He was at preschool.

DinosaurFarmer · 17/04/2017 20:42

DS1 was about 2 - pretty much when DS2 arrived. DS2 (now 4.6) loves his sleep so will often still have a little nap some days after pre-school which can be anything up to 2 hours - they're not scheduled in bed naps just dropping off on me or the sofa although sometimes he will go and lie on my bed and drop off. He also loves a car nap! Even with these he is still asking to go to bed at 7 and sleeps for 10-12 hours.

I don't know how he's going to manage a full day at school come September! Grin

weddingopinionsplease · 17/04/2017 20:44

DS - 18/19 months. Slept from 7-7 no naps since then apart from the rare occasion he's ill.
DD is 18 months and she still has 1 nap a day plus sleeps 7-7, seems like she still really needs her naps. Long may they continue 😂

SparklyLeprechaun · 17/04/2017 20:45

DS was still napping for 2 hours at 4. DD stopped at around 3 because the nursery discouraged naps in preschoolers (I got very angry over this)

WhenSheWasBadSheWasHorrid · 17/04/2017 20:46

With both kids they started dropping the naps at 18 months and completely ditched them at 2years.

Purplefrogshoes · 17/04/2017 20:51

19 months Sad but he does sleep 12 hours at night Grin

Apocalyptichorsewoman · 17/04/2017 20:54

Both of my boys were about 18 months ( crys quietly)

I can't tell you how much I missed it, and I did try to stretch it out...

But - They were reasonable sleepers and from 4months onwards they were doing at least a five hour stretch of sleeping overnight, which gradually extended as they got older, so by 9months they were going the night through.

I could never nap when they did though because I would just get into a deep sleep when they woke up again, and I felt absolutely dreadful!

It WAS nice to get an hour or so to myself though. I was doing a degree at the time so I used it for studying, and I really missed it when they dropped it - particularly at 5pm when they were struggling Hmm

But I can't really complain because I did get several consequetive hours overnight...

GreyBird84 · 17/04/2017 21:06

1!!
2.5yrs now & just doesn't seem to need much sleep.

I envy these people who's children go down 7pm - that would be such a luxury. DS is still awake now!!
