She is 16 months and tripped over yesterday lunchtime. Since then she won't weight bear on one foot at all. She can't walk and can't even crawl.

The foot isn't swollen or bruised and I can touch it and move it without her crying.
She's had calpol and slept ok but still can't weight bear.

A and e or wait it out another day?

God what is it this weekend with posters demanding only evidence-based facts be posted in response to threads asking for advice? This is Mumsnet, not paediatric-specialist-net. Anecdotal evidence is what we do.

Anecdotally I know a toddler who badly broke his leg but didn't really cry or bother, and the doctors he saw missed it because they decided not to x-ray at first. I also understand not wanting to cause a fuss on bank holiday weekend when the child doesn't seem to be in much pain at all. I don't think you're terrible for waiting Flowers I hope DD feels better and it's just sprained or sore rather than broken.

Topuptheglass · 17/04/2017 14:38

God Nabobs give it a rest. Nothing like being sanctimonious is there?

What's your problem anyway?

Go & bully someone in real life, face to face, instead of sitting behind your keyboard targeting a mother whose only 'crime' was to query a visit to A&E Hmm

Op I hope all is well.

MiniCooperLover · 17/04/2017 15:09

OP as the parent of a child who broke his arm at 3 and collar bone not long after I think I unfortunately you got someone whose paediatric knowledge is low. I think you should take her back to A&E, take books, snacks to occupy her but do it.

Grumpbum · 17/04/2017 16:10

I also think you should head to A&E we arrived at 1730 and didn't get out until 0230. Frustrating, boring and a pain but necessary and previously walking toddler who now won't weight bear would ring bells for me m.

My ds broke his leg at 18 month's, he wouldnt walk on it but would crawl, i thought i was being overly cautious bringing him to get checked, glad i did now! 4 weeks in a cast and he was grand again

Placeanditspatrons · 17/04/2017 16:28

She will now walk holding my hand but with the front of her foot held off the ground, so on her heel.

I'm going to go back to minor injuries tomorrow for an X ray.

Ds did similar at about 18 months.
Didn't weight bear for a fortnight, was walking oddly for about ten days after that.
He was x-rayed several times over that period and no fracture was seen. So it was assumed to be a soft tissue injury.
Then one day he put his foot down normally and was totally fine.

Daydream007 · 17/04/2017 18:03

Take her now.

RufusTheRenegadeReindeer · 17/04/2017 18:08

Oh bless her

I hope she (and you) are ok

springflowers11 · 17/04/2017 18:13

It sounds like a fracture to me-

Adelie0404 · 17/04/2017 18:17

This is an anecdote but my DD at around 18m had a "toddler" fracture of her femur. Her nanny slipped holding her when going down the stairs. She wouldn't weight bear at all but didn't cry much. Poor nanny, she phoned me and I was working in a hospital 40 miles away. She took her straight to ED. I eventually got there just after the Xray (you know that was hours later). I knew a red dot on the envelope meant a fracture. She needed a cast for a few weeks and was absolutely fine with it. Except didn't have a proper bath for that time as she couldn't cope with the inflatable cast protector!!

So do go for the Xray!

UnicornButtplug · 17/04/2017 18:23

Taking het back tomorrow seems the eight thing to do. My nephew broke his collar bone at about 3, just too add to the toddler breakage statistic

NormaSmuff · 17/04/2017 18:31

Hope it is her toe op

Miniwookie · 17/04/2017 18:39

Why is everyone saying rush back to a&e? What do they think will happen if op waits until Wednesday as advised by minor injuries? If she's just holding the front if her foot up is does sound like the toe.

Placeanditspatrons · 17/04/2017 18:45

She's walking a bit now but with her toe held up. She seems to have learnt to balance better and not put that bit of her foot down so I'm not convinced it's 'better' as such.
