to think 9am isn't too early for DC to be outside

Just overheard the neighbours complaining that the DC are out in the garden already. They are quietly watering their sunflowers not running around screaming.

AIBU to think it's none of their business?

Quite ironic that they are out their most days shouting and swearing in front of their own DC and we can't relax without listening to their fights.

Jiggly - because they can't hear her she doesn't shout she just quietly pushes a pram/plays with dirt/reads books/eats

Ecureuil · 16/04/2017 10:47

Speak for yourself Jiggly, pre children it never bothered me. It's preferable to adults drunkenly shrieking after late night BBQ's going on until midnight anyway.
I don't usually let mine outside until after they're dressed/breakfasted etc so usually about 9am.

JigglyTuff · 16/04/2017 10:54

I agree that it's better than late night drunken adults.

I just think a bit of consideration goes a long way when you have neighbours. Probably very old-fashioned of me.

Trifleorbust · 16/04/2017 10:56

By 8am most kids have been up 3 hours already. It's the middle of their morning. They might get a few hours a week when they can play in the garden at this time of year, given the weather and everything else there is going on. I would totally ignore any complaints.

PietariKontio · 16/04/2017 11:00

9.0am, any day, any noise, is fine. We share the world, and others' noise is part of it. Yes that may disturb some people, but they'll surely disturb you at times; late nights, lawn mowers etc.
As someone who worked nights a lot, you can never expect the world around you to be quiet when you want it to be and 9.0am is perfectly reasonable.

Nicpem1982 · 16/04/2017 11:02

Jiggly - I think it's a matter of give and take on both sides of the fence.

Does my dd on occasion play out in the garden before 8am? Yes she does and probably on occasion the neighbours may hear her if she falls over or something and cries, but she's also in bed for 7 every night

My neighbors have on occasion had family BBQs/dinners/celebrations that go past 7pm (not ridiculously late into the night) can we hear them periodically on these occasions generally having a lovely time

Neither of us cause a fuss as it's swings and roundabouts neither side is excessively noisy so the occasions where we can hear each other we sensibly chalk it up to living in close proximity to other people

NoCapes · 16/04/2017 11:07

Trifle I don't think most kids get up at 5am?

I let Ds2(17months) out earlier than 9 sometimes, the sound of him pushing his dolly in his trolley around the patio is much quieter than him banging on the patio doors crying shouting "out!" At the top of his voice
He hates to be indoors, he's like a caged animal!

I wouldn't let the older 2 out till 9am though, they're loouuuddddd

But 9am is fine, and I thought was kind of the unspoken acceptable timing for these things, seems not

Nicpem1982 · 16/04/2017 11:10

Nocapes - me and dh up before 6 everyday dd is up at 630 at the latest

Afreshstartplease · 16/04/2017 11:11

Mine all get up between 6-7am

Ecureuil · 16/04/2017 11:11

I'm bloody glad my children aren't up at 5am every day! They're usually up between 6.30 and 7.30am

Nicpem1982 · 16/04/2017 11:12

Ecru - we're out for 7 most mornings for work/childcare

NoCapes · 16/04/2017 11:14

Yeah my littlest gets up at 6/6:30 too, older ones around 8

But trifle said that by 8am most kids would've been up for 3 hours - which I really really doubt is true

Nicpem1982 · 16/04/2017 11:15

Nocapes - fair point I missed that

Trifleorbust · 16/04/2017 11:16

Sorry, I actually meant to type 9am. I think 6am is abnormal waking time when you went to bed at 6 or 7pm.

Trifleorbust · 16/04/2017 11:16

*a normal

Christ, this phone!

kingscrossnoodle · 16/04/2017 11:18

Depends on your neighbours tbh. Ordinarily I would say not before about 10am but one of my neighbours has 6 noisy kids and a couple of barking at all hours dogs. We also have to keep all of our windows shut at the back of the house thanks to their weed habit. Other neighbours have big dogs that bark back to the aforementioned dogs of neighbour 1. I used to let mine out anytime after 7 just to piss them off

NoCapes · 16/04/2017 11:20

Ah ok trifle yeah I'd agree most little kids get up somewhere around 6

Mine is up at 6 no matter what time he goes to bed though, had a late night the other night and he didn't go down till 9:30, I was expecting a lovely lie in till 7:30 maybe 8, so had a glass or 2 of wine
Nope! 6am and I got "MAMAAAAA BREK BREK!!" Hmm
He got shoved out in the garden early that morning I tells you!

BeaveredBadgered · 16/04/2017 11:21

We were out at 8.30am with our 14 month year old DD. Nothing noisy, just eating hot cross buns.

Nicpem1982 · 16/04/2017 11:25

Nocapes 😂

lizzyj4 · 16/04/2017 11:29

This is why I'm glad I don't have neighbours - 9am sounds more than reasonable. There are much more irritating sounds than noisy children - barking dogs and drunken adults among them. Your neighbours are BU.

kmc1111 · 16/04/2017 11:52

On a holiday weekend I used to keep them in a bit longer, since for many people it's the only time they massively change their routine and have a proper sleep in.

Ecureuil · 16/04/2017 11:53

Pretty much my whole street has young families so I doubt anyone would even notice Grin

Wolfiefan · 16/04/2017 11:56

9am really isn't early. And if kids are playing quietly I can't see the problem.

UppityHumpty · 16/04/2017 12:04

Yabu. Nothing is worse for me than being woken up by my neighbours 'quietly playing kids' before 9am on a holiday. How would you like it if they started waking up your kids at 4-5am as they got ready for their morning commute? Only you find your kids cute.

LouKout · 16/04/2017 12:06

They didnt complain directly so haven't really done anything wrong.
