You can get nasty friction burns from sliding down bannisters (not that this ever stopped me as a child).

MsHooliesCardigan · 17/04/2017 18:40

E11 those do look lovely. I must admit that I'm quite stubborn in not wanting to ever be further out than zone 2 but it is something I've begun to reconsider

limitedperiodonly · 17/04/2017 18:49

I learned how to win in the bannister race against my friend TizzyDongue.

My secret was putting a few of those fabric softener sheets on either side of my knickers.

The best thing was that I used to pinch them from her house. My mum would never entertain them.

FreeNiki · 17/04/2017 19:02

E11Millie £440k for a 2 bed flat in Leytonstone as per that link?
Am I missing why you think that is so amazing?

originalbiglymavis · 17/04/2017 19:14

Excellent way to polish the handrail.

limitedperiodonly · 17/04/2017 19:17

My house is not worth anything like £32 million. Though it is a mile from the one I've linked to.

That's why it is fucking laughable for Skerrywind who lives a bit outside Edinburgh, or anyone else who doesn't live in London to talk about buying a home here.

Why don't people who can't help just bugger off?

limitedperiodonly · 17/04/2017 19:20

Excellent way to polish the handrail

originalbiglymavis I though so

Shopkinsdoll · 17/04/2017 19:24

You can get this up my way. And you get change

Where is limited's link? I keep scrolling back and forth and can't find it.

In the interests of balance, I have seen many many posts on threads about houses in more affordable areas where Londoners/southerners have said "Oh wow! you get so much for your money up there, round here it would buy a studio" or "weeps at the price". It happens ever such a lot.

limitedperiodonly · 17/04/2017 19:40

It's here Bibbity

That's not anywhere near the price or the size of my home, but it's the asking price of one a mile away.

It's why I'm weary of people who don't live in London, talking about London housing prices.

MrsSchadenfreude · 17/04/2017 19:47

Limited, are we neighbours? That is the first one that comes up for me on rightmove within a mile! There is also this which is many millions cheaper.

limitedperiodonly · 17/04/2017 19:52

We might be neighbours MrsSchadenfreude. Let's do lunch Wink

marthastew · 17/04/2017 19:54

Op, what about a Monday to Friday lodger? They might be easier to find for a small room as they have a main home elsewhere and you would have the place to yourself on weekends.

You could get something bigger and with a bit of outside space if you looked a little further out. This flat looks fine but not somewhere that would be very relaxing to live in. Look at Ealing which is peaceful and will soon have cross rail.

MrsSchadenfreude · 17/04/2017 19:54
Grin
bibbitybobbityyhat · 17/04/2017 20:02

Limited, srsly, if I thought for a moment that was anything like your house I would have tapped you for a few more gins at the London meetups Wink.

Am going to look up what's within a mile from me now ...

marthastew · 17/04/2017 20:02

Op, for example this one. Near new crosssrail and it's a whole house with a good garden. It would go up in value when the new line opens and when you did it up a bit etc. No lease and it just looks so much more relaxing than living on KTHR.

bibbitybobbityyhat · 17/04/2017 20:04

A mere £3.95 million within a mile from me. But then I do live in the most unfashionable London quarter!

limitedperiodonly · 17/04/2017 20:09

Bibbity Grin You're on for gin.

I didn't realise the full extent of London prices until about an hour ago until I looked up Rightmove and noticed the place I walk home past every day.

I actually am still having difficulty processing it.

If I didn't think people outside London should STFU before, I certainly do now.

GinAndTunic · 17/04/2017 20:11

marthastew, that is a super-cute house.

MrsELM21 · 17/04/2017 20:15

I don't love it... needs a bit of TLC

Emmageddon · 17/04/2017 20:52

@marthastew that house is really nice. Much better than the flat the OP is considering.

Munchkin1412 · 17/04/2017 21:17

It's a good price for a 3 bed in that area. Is there a catch?

CrypticDrip · 17/04/2017 23:41

Limited - bibbity has confirmed my point so hopefully you won't require links! On the thankfully rare occasions my SIL visits, she tells me how many millions my Edwardian house would be worth in various parts of London. But it's not bleeding well in London, is it!!! She paid an exorbitant amount for a pokey house in a nondescript road but she gets to peruse her career and enjoy the buzz of living near the capital. We're both happy with our homes and choices.

And stop telling people to STFU - it's a discussion forum.

CrypticDrip · 17/04/2017 23:43

Pursue her career!

AvaCrowder2 · 17/04/2017 23:49

Limited that place is nice. I always think London is its own place, it's expensive for a reason. Not for us, we've been out of the market for so long that we are priced out. Sadly.
