AIBU- to not understand all the Michelle Fowler hate?

Well the title says it all really. I think the actress is doing her best to play a difficult story line which I'm finding very enticing if I'm being honest. IMO I think it's one of the better storylines eastenders have had lately and would even go as far to say the new Michelle is better than the original!

I stopped watching when fake Michelle was sitting at the allotment reminiscing with fake Martin about their childhood. EE has jumped the shark and I couldn't suspend disbelief any longer.

There are some characters that you just can't replace. Michelle is one of them!

Hate summer, no it wasn't me 😂 I don't remember that thread but it sounds hilarious! Have to say the hair and the mac doesn't quite do it for me, maybe that poster may come on this thread to defend Michelle and her fabulous beige mac.

Unfortunately I agree, this new Michelle just isn't ....... well, Michelle. Her odd acting style and lack of authenticity is distracting from what could have been an interesting story line.

I did laugh at her first scene. The whole "mystery feet stepping out of the cab, camera pans up to reveal who it is" but that doesn't work when the character has a new head! Grin it only works for the likes of Peggy Mitchell. We have to actually recognise the character!

I don't watch Eastenders so cannot comment, but I saw Jenna Russell years ago in Les Miserables and she was fab, times must be hard for her if she feels the need to be in ' the worst soap'in the history of the world. Just my opinion!

I never saw any genuine spark between her and Preston. Made the whole storyline pointless if there's no spark.

Michelle is supposed to have gone to America and become a teacher, married an American and had a more affluent lifestyle than anyone in Walford. In the real world she would have changed, the weird thing would be if Susan Tully came back and played her as a completely unchanged character.

She is strugglng to create any warmth in this character. She seems wooden and strangely disconnected from anyone really. There is no believable emotion. I think she is a disaster in the role.

Not watching but the name rang a bell - and if wikipedia is right, shes the singer of the red dwarf theme tune.

As I said , I don't watch Eastenders; but I am surprised that can't people are saying that Michelle and Preston (whoever he is) are wooden and the storylines are rubbish. That just about sums up the whole programme, it has always been dire, I am shocked that people still watch it.

nick if you don't watch it how do you know the acting is wooden etc? There are some great actors in eastenders, Shirley, Stacey, Kim, Denise to name a few.

I feel sorry for Jenna too, it's not her fault the storyline is so shit and that they've miscast Michelle. Accent is awful though.

I haven't seen it since 'shell married Lofty then ran off to America. Isn't Susan Tully a director these days?
