Sorry for the rubbish title but I couldn't see a new thread!

Thanks for the new thread CaveMum. Can't believe we started the last thread with the strike on Syria, and this thread with a strike in Afghanistan, and a potential strike on NK looming. Madness!

InaDelerium · 14/04/2017 01:08

Am I the only one to think that a strike on North Korea is necessary?

Tobolsk · 14/04/2017 01:13

InaDelerium

On one hand yes it is nessasary. On the other it's a tactical nightmare.

If Russia or China come to the aid of NK then it will go south very quickly. Sooth Korea is screwed. Eastern Europe is screwed.

No one will ever invade the USA. A invasion force has at least 3 days in open ocean...... it would be like target practice for the US forces.

A very good reason for us to NOT to piss Mexico off, then. It wouldn't be the first time an enemy has tried to convince Mexico to ally with them to invade the US. Germany tried in WWI (Zimmermann Telegram).

Tobolsk · 14/04/2017 02:13

Mexico, and for that matter Canada do not have the military superiority to launch a successful offensive.

saffronwblue · 14/04/2017 02:18

Yay I have found you - hands out really delicious chocolate cake all round. So great.

I feel as if we are just sliding into a war footing without it being openly acknowledged. #45 just trying out what it feels like to drop a bomb here and a missile there, with nobody saying Stop it Donald, Put it away.

TheClaws · 14/04/2017 02:20

The alt-right are in an absolute Trump love-tizzy at the moment. They didn't like the Syria strikes, but something about a REALLY BIG BOMB (with an amusing acronym!) really appeals to their MAGAs.

TheClaws · 14/04/2017 02:30

Inadelerium I think striking NK would be ill-advised as their full weapon capacity is relatively unknown and they are not without allies. NK also will not hesitate to protect itself. Most NK people are at the mercy of the regime - that is what you need to take out. Striking would only cause more distress to the people, IMO.

Lweji · 14/04/2017 03:11

Am I the only one to think that a strike on North Korea is necessary?

What kind of strike?
With what type of weapons?
To which type of target?
And what would the consequences be, in your opinion?

Lweji · 14/04/2017 03:13

No one will ever invade the USA

Ah, ah.
I think that ship has sailed.
Or rather, that election has already been lost.

TheClaws · 14/04/2017 03:19

#BREAKING: US officials say they are prepared to launch "preemptive strike on North Korea" if NK tests nuclear weapon. This is...not good.

TheClaws · 14/04/2017 03:20

Methinks they are just itching to launch a missile or two in there.

AcrossthePond55 · 14/04/2017 04:54

I'm hoping it's just more willy waving on Trump's part. The problem with him is that if he gets away with something (Syria & Afghanistan bombs) then, with his ego, he simply has to move on to something bigger.

I don't know what can stop him if he's determined on 'sending a message' to NK, short of either the military refusing to obey his orders or him being declared non compos mentis by Pence and a Cabinet majority.

BREAKING: North Korea's vice foreign minister says President Trump is "making trouble" with "aggressive" tweets

CaveMum · 14/04/2017 07:26

Apparently the MOAB strike killed 36 militants and destroyed the ISIS base.

www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-asia-39598046

I'm not sure on the cost of a MOAB, but I'm guessing that's the equivalent of tens of millions per militant.

Thanks cave for thread. Smile

I've been away but following what I can when I can. Then I come home and am on the verge of the Mother Of All Tantrums when I can't find you, and managed to avert that when I did, phew!

Sky News has an unconfirmed report that the MOAB killed 32 Isis fighters in them there caves with no civilian casualties... I'll wait for a confirmed report on that thank you.

DT must be loving all of this.... it's like a giant board game for him isn't it...

Roussette · 14/04/2017 07:31

Snap Cave. Must have typed the same as you at the same time!

Roussette · 14/04/2017 07:31

p.s. Trump can't wave his willy, it's too small. Official

Dumdedumdedum · 14/04/2017 07:45

Thanks to my recently adopted policy of keeping my head in the sand and avoiding all news that would upset me, I have only just looked at these threads and realised about the MOAB. I just burst into tears of impotence, horror and despair. The bastard's going to start WWIII in the end, isn't he?
Thank you for the new thread, CaveMum - short but sweet title, unlike Trump and his doings.

Bananamanfan · 14/04/2017 07:55

Do you mind a newbie entering the thread to say "shit"?

Roussette · 14/04/2017 08:00

Hi Banana Smile

I don't want to be looking back on this and thinking... remember the time we posted about MOAB and now look what is happening in the World. Trump is just not measured and he doesn't listen to others. He just wants to bomb the shit out of anyone he fancies in a show of bravado.

I've been away and just read some of his recent tweets and I am Shock Shock

CaveMum · 14/04/2017 08:02

Newbies, converts and undercover spies all welcome.

You can pick up your tin foil at that table in the corner Wink

To be honest, I can't see WW3 starting, but I can see South Korea and/or Japan taking a hit if Trump pisses off Lil' Kim too much. Of course if that happened that's the end of the NK regime, but whether Lil' Kim has the sense to realise that is another thing.

I'll see your shit and raise you a ho-o-o-o-oly fucking shit. Very appropriate on a Good Friday.

Bananamanfan · 14/04/2017 08:07

Hi!Smile
It all seems incredibly indiscriminate. He's watched too much Superman, he's popping up all over the place. Japan must be bricking it.
